Scissors: 5.5" Lister Bandage - Tactical All Black

Scissors: 5.5' Lister Bandage - Tactical All BlackWOW, these look pretty cool all black and everything, but that black will scratch off. They are also so dull you're probably better off getting scissors made for a 5 year old. They would barely cut through roll cotton. It's almost like someone took a pair of old bandage scissors and spray painted them black.

I received these in the mail and took them to work with me. I tried to use them to cut a string and I had a hard time getting through it. I would not recommend these scissors for work.

I enjoy having the all black items but unfortunately they are not remaining black that long. The finish is rubbing off on my hands and also when they rub against anything else.

These scissors are terrible. They have been spray painted black to make them look like they are good quality, and they are all chipped and sloppy looking.. I will never purchase anything again without going over the reviews thoroughly. Big mistake.

I'm a paramedic for the past 36 years and go through a lot of gear. I bouth these since I'm in a lot of tactical situations and they work like a charm. I've always carried both trauma shears and bandage scissors and these work great. I'm used to the bigger 71/2 inch ones but I can't say anything bad about these.

Nexcare Tegaderm Transparent 4 x 4.75-Inches Dressing, 4-Count Boxes (Pack of 2)

Nexcare Tegaderm Transparent 4 x 4.75-Inches Dressing, 4-Count BoxesI use these Tegaderm patches for the skin tears my 80 year old husband gets whenever he bumps his arms or legs. They are also good protection for nasty bruises to prevent them from turning into skin tears. They last through several showers.

Adventure Medical Kits Comprehensive Kit

Adventure Medical Kits Comprehensive KitI've had one of these kits since 1992, and I highly recommend it. From the Dental Module to the CPR Module to the SAM splint, this kit has many of the items you'll need in an emergency, and is worth every penny you'll spend on it.

If you work or play hard in the outdoors (I used to do surveying in the back-of-beyond, as well as a lifelong camper/backpacker/bikepacker), this kit is all you could hope for, with a few suggested additions. Get the EpiPen or other epinephrine injector the included book recommends, and I'd highly recommend getting a second SAM splint, the SAM instructional DVD/Video, and a pack of SAM finger splints.

There's a list of suggested for-emergency-use prescription medications; if you get them, also get a 14-day supply of each prescription medication you (or a family member) need on a daily basis. If you're getting this for an earthquake or other natural disaster kit, you'll need them anyway. Have them in this kit to make them easier to find. If you take OTC medications, add a pack of each of them as well; you can rotate them out yearly. If you change your smoke detector battery on Daylight Savings Time change days, it's also a good time to go through this kit and update it.

It's a bit heavy, so you might have to split up the modules if you're backpacking in a group, but this kit can handle many of the oops moments we all see in our lives, and not just in the outdoors. When I'm not out and about it sits in my house, where it's handled everything from scalp wounds to broken bones and even severe burns. Even if you're rushing out to the nearest hospital, this kit can bring a calmer mindset to the patient, as it's obvious you're at least ready and able to help.

Just make a list of what you use and refill it! I can't stress that enough! That's the most common error with getting this kit people don't get the refills and are out of a critical item in an emergency.

This kit's worth it 16 years on mine and still going strong! You can't go wrong with Adventure Medical Kits. Get this one, get another, but GET ONE.

I got this kit as I was putting together our home disaster/earthquake preparedness kit. Overall, I am very happy with it. It is very comprehensive and contains many things I doubt (I hope) I would ever need even in the severest circumstances. I'm not going to list the contents as that would be fairly impossible, but below are main points of my experience:

* Layout I really like the layout of this kit. It unfolds into multiple sections, each one providing good access to the contents contained therein and which are clearly visible. One very nice thing is that it has a detachable and independent zipped and water resistant kit that you can make portable from the rest. This is handy if you need to split up medical duties or go mobile with a truncated first aid kit. As it is, the kit folds up to a fairly compact bundle, which is amazing for all that is in it.

* Capability I am impressed with the selection of bandages, pads, medications and general first aid supplies in this kit. It does seem to cover many areas well: cuts and abrasions, pain, diarrhea, sting, and allergy relief, blood loss, sprains and dislocations, and also provides a fairly good first aid manual.

* Quality All the medications were within their valid dates and most had a couple of years left on them, which is close to the expiration date of most meds anyway. The tube of glucose (for hypoglycemics?) had ruptured out the end of the tube due to a faulty seal, however. That part was not cool. So not only did that make the glucose ineffective if I needed it, it also smeared some things in the vicinity with a nice, lemon-scented goo. (Read: Bear Magnet) In the end, this was only one thing and didn't make me feel that the kit overall was low quality. In fact, I am generally impressed with the quality of the kit. The case itself, with zippers and pouches, are all of good quality and should last through time and use.

I got this kit in a hurry as I was assembling my disaster supplies and I got lazy and just wanted something that had everything. While it really is a good kit and should cover all my needs, I should have put the majority of it together myself. One reason is perishability. When meds, even common ones, are embedded in a kit, you are less likely to rotate the old stuff out with the new. It is better to have a discrete section only for common and prescription drugs that can be easily checked on a regular basis. Secondly, a better kit contains those things that you think you will need, not what a general kit attempts to do. We have small children, for example, and that necessitates some unique things that aren't necessarily stocked in a general kit. Also, no kit can have everything it's just not possible. So I've been adding to this one some additional gear: Splints for fingers and limbs, more of certain sizes of bandages, etc.

I have other first aid kits by AMK and they are generally excellent. I have modified all of them, however, to suit my individual needs. This comprehensive kit is very good for large groups or for an extended period for a family and covers quite a bit; I think it would have been impossible for me to assemble the same gear individually for the price.

Comes with everything you'd need for a month long excursion in the wilderness. Not only does it have everything, but unlike other first aid kits I've bought the items in this kit come in quantities large enough to be useful and used again. Actual tubes of product instead of a just a small rip open package sampler. The only thing I purchased separate to add to this kit was two packs of Celox just in case any of my group incur a severe wound that won't stop bleeding even with a pressure dressing.

Looked like it had been in storage for far too long, some sterile packaging on a couple of items was compromised, and several medications were very near their expiration dates. Customer service response from the vendor was not great, they offered a $20 rebate, but after a few exchanges they reluctantly agreed to take it back and give a refund.

I bought this for our neighborhood as part of our emergency preparedness equipment. Perfectly organized with labels, convenient size and portability, and it comes with instructions for treating common wounds. It's not the cheapest out there but when an emergency happens you won't be searching through half a dozen compartments trying to figure out what you need.

OLAES 4" Modular Bandage

OLAES 4' Modular BandageIt's a trauma bandage for a gunshot wound. Thankfully, I haven't had to use it, so I can only rate it on the exterior appearance of the packaging and what I've read about the OLAES product on the internet.

An EMT friend of mine just turned me on to this item and I'm glad he did. I am used to using Israeli Bandages and this serves the same function however it has a couple interesting features. For one, it has removable gauze stashed inside the bandage so if you need to cover an entry and exit wound then you have the gauze for one side and the regular bandage part for the other! The little cup which serves to add pressure when you wrap a wound can also be used to protect an eye injury.

One issue I have with this item is that once you open the tan main packaging, the bandage is not in another smaller plastic bag like traditional Israeli bandages. This isn't a major issue but I would have prefered that it came in another smaller sterile plastic bag. All in all, I really like this product.

I like the olaes over the israeli, however the largest I've found is 6" bandage, this one being a 4". So for limb and smaller torso hemorrhaging, these are great, for large abdominal/torso wounds, there is an israeli 12". The plastic "thumb" presser, is actually for helping applying direct pressure, as well as continuing to apply pressure from the wrap stretched over ittaking place of what would have been several gauzes mashed on top of eachother to create extra pressure. An innovative invention that worked. I know. Astonishing.

Clearblue Easy Digital Pregnancy Test

Clearblue Easy Digital Pregnancy TestI will never forget the joy I felt when I got my first positive pregnancy test with Clearblue Easy Digital, after months of failed attempts and fertility drugs. And I will never forget the agony and uncertainty when another test (EPT), taken minutes later, had the dreaded words "Not Pregnant." The makers of Clearblue Easy Digital should be ashamed. A quick internet search will show you many, many women who have had false positives with this test. This is not consistent with a test that is supposedly 99% accurate. Something is making this test say "Pregnant" for an awful lot of women who are just a few days away from getting their periods. This was no chemical pregnancy; the test was just dead wrong. I called my OB to tell her about it, and they were aware that this brand could give you false positives. I had no idea until I experienced it for myself. I would never wish that on anyone.

On the bright side, I got to see what it feels like to be a mom for a few minutes. I hope God blesses me with a real pregnancy one day. The test I use to find out will NOT be Clearblue Easy Digital.

AFTER A YEAR OF TRYING I BOUGHT THE CLEARBLUE OVULATION TESTS...TIME WAS TICKING BECAUSE I ALREADY HAVE A THREE YEAR OLD DAUGHTER AND I WANTED TO HAVE KIDS NO MORE THAN 4 YEARS APART. IT GAVE ME A SMILIE FACE ON DAY 12 AND TODAY IT IS DAY 29. I TOOK THE CLEARBLUE PREGNANCY TEST AND IT SAYS PREGNANT!! I RECOMMEND BUYING THE OVUALION TESTS, THE BOOK CALLED TAKING CONTROL OF YOUR FERTILITY AND THE PREGNANCY TESTS!

These products are great! I have had nothing but positive experience with them both. I conceived in the first month of trying preseed and used the digital HPT to get positive results in less than a minute. I indeed was pregnant. I would recommend the combination of these two awesome products to any woman out there who is trying to achieve a successful pregnany as soon as possible.

My husband and I decided to hae another baby and after the first month of trying, I was excited to see if it had worked. I used every test out there because I couldnt wait. I went through about 40 to 50 tests in one month, and I used all different brands. I kept thinking if I was pregnant, one day one would show positive. But every test I took was negative. So I decided to on a whim try the Clear Blue Digital to see if it would be any different from the regular line tests. 5 days after my missed period I got a positive. Now I too read all these negative reviews about the product and I was afraid to believe it. So I took a regular line test. It was negative. So I took two more digitals to see what they would say and they were both still positive. So I kept testing everyday with the line tests from various brands. Finally 8 days after my missed period I got a very faint line. So in my case, not only did the ClearBlue Digital test work, it was much more sensitive then any other I used. And I think I used every brand I came across. So excited! Due in April of next year :)

This test was very straightforward and easy to use. I felt compelled to write this review because I got a positive result even when a blood test taken 2 hours later showed my HcG at 11, making this test even more sensitive than advertised. I would definitely use Clearblue digital again, as it was a lot easier to read with very low Hcg levels than tests that show lines or +/-.

This is a clear thick gel, it works, has no smell, no sting, and the only thing that's odd about it is the ingredients list is different on the box from what's on the tube. Maybe they changed the formula? I bought it at a local store, and will be purchasing it regularly now. In the past several years I've noticed neosporin/bacitracin type stuff doesn't work at all, and I'm glad there's something that works finally. I was always after my doctor to give me Silver Sulfadene cream and was using that until I ran out. This might work on a similar principle. I hope it never stops working.

Germolene Antiseptic Cream with Local Anaesthetic 30g(pack of 2)

Germolene Antiseptic Cream with Local Anaesthetic 30g(pack of 2)I found Germolene in a pharmacy in London in 2010 while looking for adhesive bandages and a topical antibiotic. The pharmacist plucked Germolene off the shelf and suggested I try it. It worked better than any other topical antibiotic I've ever tried.

This product is far superior to most things available over the counter in America because it has lidocaine in it to help numb the painful area while the cream helps clear small infections. It also has a clean fresh scent to it.

Hydrogen Peroxide Antiseptic Solution 16 Oz

Hydrogen Peroxide Antiseptic Solution 16 OzOccasionally I will recommend hydrogen peroxide to my dental patients to treat stubborn dental gum infections at home. Since most gum infections (gum disease) is caused and furthered by bacteria that cannot grow in an oxygen rich environment, it makes sense to flood their environment with a molecule that releases oxygen, like hydrogen peroxide.

First have your teeth thoroughly scaled and cleaned by a dental professional. Then, when you floss, dip the floss in a mixture of 50% hydrogen peroxide and floss between the teeth, getting the floss as far down as possible under the gumline. Do every tooth contact twice and do this twice a day. It will cut down the pathogenic disease-causing organisms in the dental gum tissues pockets. It must be done consistently to have a lasting effect.

This is certainly not a cure-all since it cannot reach to the depth of deeper gum pockets. However, it will help to kill the organisms that cause gum disease. It is best used when the disease is relatively recent and has not caused extensive pocketing or bone loss.

One can finish the process by dipping ones toothrush in the 50% mixture of hydrogen peroxide and brushing the teeth and gums. Afterwards, one should rinse with water, as hydrogen peroxide leaves a an aftertaste that is not pleasent.

JIm Koenig, DDS

This stuff whitens teeth sooo well!!! I remembered my mom told me I should try this, but seeing that she doesn't use it (she doesnt whiten her teeth), I never saw the results. I didn't know what to try, but remembered what my mom told me, so picked up two bottles today.

With one use for one minute, my teeth were whiter than they had ever been after WEEKS of Crest white white strips, and other like-kits as well as whitening mouth wash AND whitening toothpaste.

Not only that, I could feel it killing the germs on my tongue and my gums were instantly less swollen (I have very sensitive gums).

This stuff REALLY IS incredible!! Thank you SOOO much MOM for telling me about this!!! It is SO affordable, but really works!

I'm just really impressed and want to let other people know.

Not too long ago, I read of a variety of ways to have fresher breath. One of the ways was to vigorously rinse the mouth with a 50% mixture of hydrogen peroxide and water for at least a minute prior to brushing. Then give the teeth a good brushing. Oxygen is death to bacteria and hydrogen peroxide is simply a water molecule with an extra atom of oxygen attached, which it readily releases to kill bacteria. Don't expect a miracle immediately as you may have an overwhelming amount of bacteria. Plus, it's good to have your teeth cleaned regularly. I recently had them cleaned and I've now been using this rinse and brush method for about a month. I can feel my mouth getting fresher day by day. It's amazing!

In any case, I picked up this Swan Hydrogen Peroxide Antiseptic Solution (16 ounces) at my local grocery store. It's not very expensive. You mix it with 50% water and only use a little at a time so it goes a long way. Read the warnings on the label, of course, and if you have any concerns, consult your doctor or dentist.

(#1 REVIEWER)I always have a bottle of Hydrogen Peroxide at home. It has so many uses! I use 50% solution of water and H.P. almost daily to clean my toothbrush. Sometimes I use the same solution to brush my teeth. It whitens the teeth well, although it does not taste great. However a little rinse with water fixes the after taste.

I used to use Hydrogen Peroxide for scrapes as well. Recently I fell and got a pretty nasty gash on my shin (4 inch by 0.25 inch). Because I was traveling I did not treat the wound as well as I should and got an infection. In a few weeks when I had to see the doctor to treat the infection, I asked what I should have used to clean the wound to avoid the problem next time.

Surprisingly, the doctor told me that Hydrogen Peroxide should not have been my first choice. The doctor said that H.P. does clean but also damages the healthy tissue and this prolongs healing. The doctor said that studies show that the best way to clean the wound is with plenty of plain water and soap and pressure on the wound to remove the debris. Hydrogen Peroxide should only be used if there is no access to clean water. So it should be in your emergency kit when you hike but not your first choice if there is access to soap and water.

Hope this helps someone to avoid a slow healing infection.

P.S. A note on price. My local grocery store sell 16 oz bottle for $1.50, I saw similar prices in a local pharmacy.

Adventure Medical Ultralight & Watertight .7 First Aid Kit

Adventure Medical Kits Ultralight & Watertight .7This is just what is needed for camping or as an emergency kit for long car trips. There are more items in the kit than was expected. Kit is great for college students who tend not to have items for emergencies.

For outdoor enthusiasts, it's always good to have at least some basic emergency medical supplies on hand. I've used products from Adventure Medical Kits in the past and think they are a great way to have a supply of bandages and assorted other items to handle routine cuts, scrapes, splinters, insect bites, blisters, headaches and other non-emergency room mishaps that can occur.

On a good day, you'll never have to use this kit but on a bad day you'll be so glad you have it with you. I've tried putting together my own kit over the years and it's always a bit frustrating to acquire a couple of these and a couple of those. It just ends up being a big mess. I prefer this kind of a kit since it is organized and provides a good assortment of what you really need to handle the basic mishaps. It's got a good, basic variety of adhesive bandages, gauze bandages, tweezers, mole-skin and some basic medication(aspirin, ibuprofen and anti-histamine.)

It's all contained in a waterproof bag which fits inside a compact zippered nylon carry case. This particular kit is rated for 1-2 persons for up to 4-days. This is certainly better than having nothing at all and should be a part of anyone's backpack.

Johnson & Johnson Johnson & Johnson Band-Aid Adhesive Pads Bandages Large

Band-Aid Brand Adhesive Bandages, Large Adhesive Pads, 10-Count BandagesI have diabeties and suffer with ulcers on my legs these are so easy to use and they stay in place, only wish they came in 50 or 100 count. definetly worth the money.

I have searched many times for a better product, but this item has always proved most satisfactory. Since I have had a successful kidney transplant for over 38 years, my only caveat is being vulnerable to some skin infections, especially in my ankle areas. This product is far superior to any Curad brand. When compared to Johnson & Johnson's other brand of "large band-aid" (it looks just like an oversized standard Band-aid), this item is far superior. I learned by painful experience the other product, even after 24 hours, begins to become "disassembled", loosing the adhesive qualities on one or both sides.

If the intended user will be engaged in any extensive physical work-out when using this product on the extremities, I would recommend applying some medical quality "micro-pore" first aid tape (either paper or "Next Care Flexible Clear First Aid Tape" around the outside perimeter of the large Band-Aid adhesive Pad. With normal walking I have not found this necessary.

The only negative you will find this is the overall price. Most of the Amazon prices start at $25.00 for a box of 10. I am finding this item more difficult to obtain in pharmacies which are now shying away from first aid supplies (no doubt do to the high costs of inventory). Before purchasing at Amazon, you may want to checkout your local supermarket and even some of the large office supply catalogues.

I trust you have found this review helpful.

God Bless.

Millennium Bars Assorted 24-Pack

Millennium Bars Assorted 24-Pack
  • Each of the twenty four 400-Calorie bars has high energy value, and is non-thirst provoking
  • This variety pack of long-life (5 years) energy bars provides ready-to-eat, non-perishable food for up to two people for three days
  • A total of 9,600 Calories in 24 individually wrapped 400-calories portions.
  • A variety of Lemon, Vanilla, Raspberry, Cherry, Apricot, Orange, Coconut flavored bars.
  • Great for hiking, camping, boating and disaster preparedness.

The price point of 24 bars for just over $1.20 each was perfect. These bars are simple, durable, and compact. They handle heat and cold exceptionally well. For those who have not had one, the bars all look alike, regardless of flavor. You might describe them as being like a very firm cookie dough. They don't crunch as much as crumble as you chew. The taste of all flavors is excellent, and really a strong point. I could eat these, either one or more flavors, and not get tired of them. At 400 calories each, they do kill a meal, leave me feeling filled, and give you a modest bounce. They are not intended as true energy bars I think, as much as they handy for emergency food. I keep a half dozen in my car for example. But as a way to avoid hitting a vending machine for a big snack, they are excellent. Keeping a few in a glove box to avoid gas station pizza or junk, is a good thing. They also handle being in a car well enough that you don't worry about melting or a mess when eating.

I rate the value of my purchase by the cost per bar, after shipping. This is where ordering with Amazon Prime proved handy. I would buy these at prices up to $1.50, give or take the quantity, flavor, and shipping options. If you are looking to stock a survival box, shelter, etc, the bulk cases are a good deal given the high quality, taste, and compact size.

That was only $1.12 each. A great bargain. I ordered two packs. But, when I went to my orders, I had been charged $36.35. That came out to $1.51 per bar. No bargain at all!

I tried to cancel. But, though it had only been an hour, (And, it was Sunday) the automated system said it was too late.

They arrived today (Friday). I got 16 Cherry, 15 Coconut and 17 Apricot. The picture of their pack showed at l,east 10 different flavors. 3 is not much of a variety! We have tried all their flavors. Apricot and Coconut are at the bottom on my familys' tastiness chart. But, we've got them now. Live and learn (to like Apricot!)... The best thing about these is the thick wrapper. It is a very heavy foil and that gives me peace of mind knowing that the vacuum seal won't leak. They all pretty much taste the same regardless of flavor. The flavoring is very mild but it is present. Overall, they are like a really, REALLY dense shortbread cookie and are pretty decent tasting. Perfect for the E.D.C. bag or the B.O.B. The ones I ordered are good through 2016 but you know how that goes. If the vacuum seal is still in tact, I would feel good about eating them long after that.

I rarely if ever rate a product badly but I am very particular about my hair which is natural 4b. Since I converted from my relaxer and bc'd Olive Oil Eco Style Gel has been my gel of choice however in the interest of other reviews I have read about this gel I decided to give it a try. Unfortunately I was disappointed, terribly. To give a little contrast of the the gel is thinner in consistency and lighter in color vs the Olive Oil Eco Style Gel. Every morning after I co-wash I do an ACV rinse and then rinse my hair under the shower and wrap it up in a towel. Any gel I use is applied to clean product free hair, when I applied this to my hair it made my hair look dry and did nothing to define the curls naturally. I'm not exactly sure what "sparkle lites conditioner" is intended to be but I'm sure I don't want this combination in my hair.

Mueller 62712 Thumb Stabilizer

Mueller 62712 Thumb StabilizerI bought this stabilizer to support my wrist and thumb. I was diagnosed with the dreaded "mommy wrist". It is very simple to use and it can be used on either wrist/thumb. It offers adequate support without hurting me or being uncomfortable. I gave a rating of three because the piece that wraps around your thumb seems to wear out a little quicker than I would like. I have purchased two of these and the quality and construction were the same both times.

Please continue this line...its not always easy to obtain, Thanks for all of your help!

I've used it for 20 years under the other name. I depend on it, but I mix it

with another color. from Ann

Finally I found a product and a color that works for me, and Clairol is discontinuing it. I bought as many as I could find at Amazon before the product disappeared altogether. It's so easy to use that I can apply it every three weeks and never have any fading. It leaves my hair with a nice texture and a perfect color. I'm not confident that Clairol's replacement product will do what I want, but I won't need to try it for several months.

This product left my hair feeling dry and fragile. I wish they would bring back the old Loving Care temporary. Color didn't last as long, but at least my hair didn't become like straw.

I shouldn't have bought it. It's not permanent. It said so, but I didn't notice. Good price, but who would want non-permanent color?

Earth's Best Organic 1st, Prunes, 2.5 Ounce Jars (Pack of 12)

Earth's Best Organic 1st, Prunes, 2.5 Ounce JarsIf there is a clog in your little ones pipes, enjoy these tasty prunes. Cautionthey may work too well... be prepared for a prunenami!!

Added these prunes to our baby girl's diet to get things "moving" again. She loved them, and now is as regular as mom and dad! As far as the BPA? we researched: amount is negligible and is contained under a non BPA layer. No contact with the food at all. Therefore no BPA in the food whatsoever.

Our kid loves "binding" bananas which means he must be willing to also love "loosening" prunes. Luckily he does and I've got a case of these on subscribe and save. I've tried them myself and they are pretty yummy [for prunes].

I usually always buy and make organic non-gmo foods, for my daughter. However, if I am crunched for time or a particular food is not in season, I will choose Earth's Best. My daughter loves all of the foods offered and I too thought they tasted good. I did contact the company when I saw claims that BPA was still in the lids and the phasing out process wouldn't take place until October of 2012. Not only did they respond quickly, they informed me that BPA has not been part of their packaging process since October 2011 ( I have included the email below). Great Company, absolutely love their products!

I try to make all my son's food, but there are a few things that are more difficult than others. I bought these prunes instead of trying to make my own, and my son really likes them. I liked them too, knowing that they are organic, but then I realized that they have citric acid added.

I don't want my baby's food to taste like anything other than what it is, so I was a little disappointed to see the citric acid, especially since there are reviewers that say the citric acid in the EB bananas makes them taste terrible. I tasted these prunes and Plum Organic prunes in the pouches, and the Plum did taste better. Plum Organics doesn't add citric acid to their prunes.

My son loves both kinds, since he is evidently a fan of prunes. But I will not be buying these again.
