Howard Leight MAX Lite Foam Ear Plugs Uncorded NRR 30 (20 Pair)

I am a light sleeper, all kinds of noises wake me up. I got my first good night of sleep after wearing a pair of Flents Quiet Time Soft Comfort Foam Ear Plugs. Unfortunately, they were from batch of NR31s which are no longer made so I needed to find a better alternative.

After some research, I found the Max Lite LPF-1 and I can sleep more soundly for longer stretches. I usually get woken up by my neighbors bickering every night at 1am, and after wearing these, no more! I have also used the pink and yellow Howard Leight LL1 Laser Lites which you can usually pick up at CVS locally. I measured with a ruler and it looks like both the LPF-1 and LL1 are the same size width-wise (~9mm), but the LPF-1 is more comfortable to me because of the low pressure foam for my smaller ear canals. The LL1s will block more noise since they are rated NRR32 and the LPF-1 is rated NRR29. But if you have smaller ear canals that get irritated by other larger earplugs, the Max Lites may be a good alternative.

These earplugs cannot completely block out loud noises such as honking horns, but it will block out quieter ambient noises such as a car speeding by, people talking outside, car doors slamming, light snoring, hovering helicopters, etc. They have allowed me to sleep through my cat meowing for food or scratching at the door in the morning.

I did notice after wearing one pair of earplugs consistently for about 2 weeks, they stopped blocking out as much noise. After switching to a new pair, the problem was gone, so make sure you replace them periodically.

According to the packaging, these are made in the USA. If you like these, they also come in a 200 industrial sized pack on Amazon.

Side note: To remove earplugs safely, twist like a screw to first break the seal, then pull out. Removing by pulling the earplug straight out without first twisting to break the seal can create a suction effect on your eardrum and possibly cause damage to your hearing.

I tried some "Sleep Pretty in Pink 'Women's' Ear Plugs" because the bright orange Sperian NRR33 plugs that I bought had me waking up in pain that lasted for hours after I took them out. The Pretty in Pink NRR 32s weren't much better in terms waking up with pain or at least great discomfort in my ear canals. So I tried the purple Mack's Slim Fit "Safe Sound Jr." NRR 29 plugs. They're super comfortable and didn't have me waking up in pain, but they didn't help me much in the way of getting to sleep next to my snoring partner, either. The Mack's Slim Fits are alright if I am able to get to bed and get to sleep first. They do enough at least to keep the snoring from waking me up (as far as I am aware of). I needed something more effective, though, that wouldn't hurt. These green-colored Howard Leight MAX Lite NRR30s are the best compromise I have found. I can still hear my partner's snoring, but it's a bit more muffled than with the purple Mack's Slim Fits. They're not as comfortable as the Mack's Slim Fits, but they don't HURT like the Sperian NRR33s do or the Sleep Pretty in Pink can do.

Ace Deluxe Back Stabilizer, Large/Extra Large

This simple device makes it possible for me to function with minimal pain. It is the most comfortable of the ones I've tried. My one dislike is the big red "ACE" label on the front. Since I have to wear this over clothes for work, I cut the label off. Wish the whole thing was just black so it could blend into clothing more easily.

Scissors: 5.5" Lister Bandage - Tactical All Black

WOW, these look pretty cool all black and everything, but that black will scratch off. They are also so dull you're probably better off getting scissors made for a 5 year old. They would barely cut through roll cotton. It's almost like someone took a pair of old bandage scissors and spray painted them black.

I received these in the mail and took them to work with me. I tried to use them to cut a string and I had a hard time getting through it. I would not recommend these scissors for work.

I have been buying food handling gloves at Jethro restaurant supply, but ran out and it is a hassle to drive there, stand in line, etc. These gloves, although more expensive are far better quality, natural feeling and safer (i.e. better grip) to use with knives and cutting up meat and vegetables. I have Leukocytoclastic Vasculitis. It is a most extreme case than my dermatologist has seen in his entire 20 year career. I have used other brands of non-stick pads, such as Curad and even a cheap dollar store version (Rexall). I had no problems with them at all. They never stuck to my sores, not even once. LCV has many different types of pain, one of them being burning pains. Based in the Schmidt sting pain index, I'd give it a 4. I am not attempting to be sarcastic or exaggerate in any way. I got a box of these Johnson and Johnson non-stick pads thinking they would be the best since they were more expensive than the formerly stated brands. I expected them to work, as advertised. I was wrong. They stuck to my sores. The pain of removing them was so excruciating that I nearly vomited. I my opinion, they should take these off of the market.

I got one of these at the hospital, and it is the only pacifier my son has ever accepted. Highly recommend you at least try it if you haven't already. It's great, because you can stick your finger in and babies tend to latch onto it better when you do.

And they look like a suckerfish, as you can see by looking down the translucent nub. It's entertaining AND useful.

And I totally don't laugh at my child.

When my little one was discharged from her stay in the NICU, the NICU nurses threw together a bag for us with all kinds of stuff from their shelves. Included was about 30 of these. I think I'm good to go on pacifiers for the rest of her infanthood.

These little guys are great! We got several other brands of pacifiers at our baby shower, and my daughter rejects anything but these. She's not a huge fan of pacifiers in general, and only wants to take one when she is super, super fussy, or crying while she's waiting to eat. The Soothies are big enough and bold enough in color to find in the middle of the night in the crib, too, which is an extra bonus. They're also really easy to keep clean. I throw mine in the dishwasher. You can also stick your pinky finger in the little hole on the nipple part, and that really seems to be something my daughter likes a lot.

With all that said, the best part of all isn't advertised. These pacifiers are translucent, so when you put it in your baby's mouth, you can see the sucking action. It looks a bit like a lamprey, really. It's absolutely absurd and adorable. I never thought I'd find amusement in watching my kid suck on a pacifier, but it's strangely fascinating, and my husband and I both laugh at it every time. She's our little lamprey.

I ordered this pacifier to use while my baby is in her car seat and swing. While she usually falls asleep after a few minutes of driving she doesn't like being in her car seat and gets really upset. The only thing that soothes her is letting her suck on my pinky but this won't work once Daddy goes back to work and I have to drive when we go out. I was reluctant to give her a pacifier since she is exclusively breastfed and I have heard pacifiers can create problems with latching. So far we have had no problems with her latch and she is calmed by this pacifier in the car or swing. Once she gets a good latch on it, which takes about 30 seconds of holding it for her, she is able to keep it in her mouth until she falls asleep. I don't plan to use this long-term. I know every infant is different but we have had success with this pacifier so far. Please keep in mind I only give it to her when she has a full tummy and needs to suck on something to fall asleep in her swing or car seat.

I have a 5 week old and have tried the other pacifiers, but found that my newborn started chewing on my nipples when I breastfed her because the shape of the pacifier and my nipples were not the same.

After reading some reviews, I bought the GumDrop Newborn Pacifiers and the Philips AVENT Soothies at the same and had high hopes for both of them, but when I got them, my newborn rejected the GumDrop pacifiers as the base of the pacifier is a harder plastic than the Soothies.

She absolutely loves the Soothies, and the round base around them mimics breastfeeding more closely than the Gumdrops. I have since purchased more Soothies and have one in almost every room in the house. As a result of these great pacifies, she has since stopped chewing on my breast and has a better latch!

On the one hand, whatever is comforting to the baby is a winner, and I like that now you can get the Soothie in a color other than the typical green.

However, as far as pacifiers go, the Soothies are my least favorite. First, they are nearly impossible to stay in baby's mouth without assistance. There are a few Soothie holders out there, like the Wubbanub, but who designs a $15-$20 pacifier holder that doesn't detatch from the pacifier? (For washing/replacing purposes...).

Second, these seem to be the worst option for long-term use from a dental perspective. The nipple is about as anti-orthodontic as you can get....just take a look at the difference in shape between these and a NUK. From an oral development perspective, a baby may as well suck their thumb....they'll have the same shaped teeth. If my babies are going to use a pacifier, I'd much rather it be an orthodontic design that puts less pressure on the gums/incoming teeth.

Third, as other reviewers have noted, the non-nipple part of the pacifier leaves little room for a tiny newborn's nose....not a great design.

Fourth, when these pacifiers drop, they bounce and roll to all corner of the earth. Like bouncy balls that pick up dirt and lint and god-knows-what with each bounce.

That said, of my 3 kids, both daughters seemed to go through a "Soothie Phase" as newborns. When it comes to soothing a little one, I go with what works. For long term use, however, I was able to re-introduce orthodontic pacifiers to both my girls at about 3 months (the youngest seems to prefer the Avent orthodontic design, my oldest stuck with the NUK).

Every baby seems to have it's own preferences, so I've held on to our Soothies for each of our kids, but if I could choose a pacifier to get "hooked on," it would be the NUK. My suggestion is that if you have a baby that already likes an orthodontic design, stick with that!

They keep the water out, and come with a one way valve to prevent anything coming out of the victims mouth from getting into yours! Much better than the lip masks they give you in safety class!

I am an EMT and a CPR Instructor, and these are the BEST mask ever made. In the fire district I'm in, whenever we use a BVM and repalce it, we throw away the mask that comes with it and put in one of these. They are easier to seal (which is vital when ventillating) than any other mask I've ever used. I really have no idea why the old style masks are even still made. Dermicel Cloth Tape 1/2" X 10 Yarsd (Box Of 24)

Dermicel is a brand name of Johnson & Johnson. I had some Dermicel tape but needed more. Though Amazon shows Dermicel as the product name and picture, what I got is "Cloth Surgical Tape Hypoallergenic, manufactured for dynarex Corporation, Orangeburg, NY, made in China." I don't care where it was made, and it's a generic that's close, but not quite the same as, Dermicel. At first glance it looks the same, but it's woven differently. Both tapes have tiny notches along the sides to assist in tearing, but Dermicel has clearly-seen lines across the full width of the tape that make it much easier to cleanly tear a piece off. This tape has a smooth uniform weave that doesn't tear as easily, so it stretches and frays slightly at the tear. Of course it can be cut with scissors, but like any tape, it quickly gums them up. Both tapes have about the same stickiness. If you don't mind the difference, this tape is a good price. The product name and photo should be changed to the actual product.
