Brave Soldier Crash Paks First Aid Kit

Brave Soldier Crash Paks First Aid KitAs the name implies, this is a "Crash Pack" not a first aid kit. It's everything you need in the event of a crash on your bicycle (mountain bike or road cycling) or would come in handy after a scrape while bouldering, rock climbing, or cross country running.

You simply can't carry a complete first aid kit on an endurance event, like cycling or cross-country running, because it would be too bulky and heavy. You need something lighter and smaller than anything ever thought up by the outdoor sports industry for general use.

Inside the ultralight and durable mylar bag are a variety of essential single use size items for cleaning, disinfecting, and dressing most scrapes and cuts, as well as a couple of packets of NSAIDs (such as Advil, Bufferin, Tylenol). It even includes packets of bacetracin and butterfly bandages.

I've had mine for about three years now, used it, resupplied it, and the mylar bag looks likes it's ready for several more years of being at the ready in my jersey pocket during the thousands of miles I ride per year.

Before buying the crash pak, I used to carry just plain band-aids in a variety of sizes. No one sells single packs of bacitracin, alcohol swabs, or butterfly bandages for instance, so to create an 'as good' crash pack myself I would have to buy large quantities of each of the items it contains all at once. Thank goodness Brave Soldier has already done this, and even sells the refill variety pack needed to resupply this increadibly well put together crash pack.

I suppose the one CON is that it doesn't include any large, deluxe bandages that are antibacterial and waterproof, but those things cost the same as this entire kit and can easily be bought in any store that sells first aid supplies. I bought a pack of them and put a few in my Crash Pak--so now it's even better.

BOTTOM LINE: The Brave Soldier Crash Pak is exactly what the Emergency Medical Technician ordered for outdoor endurance athletes.

This is a very compact and extensive first aid kit. There are multiple crash packs and I ride with the whole kit just in case I can offer aid to someone else.

Ride safe.

It takes one crash to realize the value of carrying this little package. While one major wound took all the pads and gauze, I was glad to have each and every one of them and the antibiotic ointment. I left the powder to stop bleeding at home on the recommendation of my PA and didn't regret it. This light, compact kit is worth every penny for any road biker!

This gift made my sister in law very happy. She is a serious bicycle rider (I'm not, as you can tell by my terminology) and loves good quality and practical stuff. If you have a sister in law like that, you should buy her this. Received with great enthusiasm.

It is actually a big bag folded in half with a velcro piece keeping it folded. I put some other items inside, sucked the air out and folded over. Nice.

Water proof, compact, and will hopefully never get used! Hah, who am I kidding....

Cantu Shea Oil Moisturizer, 13 oz

Cantu Shea Oil Moisturizer, 13 ozIf you look on the bottle it says "New" at the top. In the older version of this product there contained no mineral oil (which is awful for african american hair), but in this new version they put in a load of mineral oil (second ingredient)! I wish I had known he ingredients for this before hand, because I never would have bought it if it contained mineral oil. I guess I won't be buying any Cantu products ever again. I have it two starts for the smell and viscosity of the "moisturizer". That's at least two things that I liked about it.

One of the best mosturizers for everyday. This does not weigh down my curls and I use it on wet hair and it dries very nicely.

To start: I'm a Latin/Caucasian mixed girl with looser, type 3 curly hair (not kinky) living in a dry desert. I use this product as a sealer after a leave-in conditioner and it's helped keep my curls soft. Plus, when I "scrunch out the crunch" from hair gel I do not have to use any oil. For me (dry climate) the mineral oil is beneficial. I've used this product a few different ways in the past (on DRY hair) but it has left my hair greasy. Using it as I've described as resulted in soft, moisturized curls. It's cheap, so give it a shot.

Adventure Medical Rescue Signal Mirror

Adventure Medical Kits Sol Rescue Flash Signal Mirror, .6-OunceBought this to add to my camping bag for emergency purposes. There are lots of signal mirrors out there, so i chose to go with this brand hoping that a specialty company with a limited range of products would offer something unique or special in their offering.

Well i was wrong, its a signal mirror. I guess there isn't much else you can do with it lol. Many of the brand names claim their mirror signals reflect over how ever many miles. I don't know about that, but i did reflect this one across the street into the neighbors house and it was bright in full sun. I do like its small size, which makes it easy to slip into any pocket on even an Altoids tin for a small Survival kit. It has a small hole if you want to attach a lanyard. Its plastic, which may be a downside to some. I heard plastic scratches and the reflective surface will flake off. This has not happened to mine, but it is protected in a soft case and not used often other than practice.

Out of the package i noticed a small issue on mine. The layers were glued together slightly off, the top layer sticks out slightly from the bottom layer of plastic. The mirror works, but makes the reflected light shoot off at a bit of an angle. Annoying, but not worth sending back.

When it comes to a signal mirror, you need one in your kit for the what if, but don't break the bank. If you purchase this brand or another, Choose the size (2x3, 4x6) which fits your kit. Practice. Know how to use it, then put it in a sleeve or case in your bag and hope you never need to pull it out.

This is smaller than my other signal mirrors, but I suppose "size isn't everything". It's plastic, so keep it protected from scratching or it will not reflect as well over time.

There really isn't much you can say about signal mirrors. I got these because they are $2 cheaper than a Ultimate Survival Technology mirror. They work.....they reflect. But honestly, you can do the same thing with a CD.

Good looking mirror. Reflects nicely and easy to aim with the center hole. The lack of a bag would be a problem except it fit into my ID holder. So now the mirror won't get scratched bouncing around in my survival kit.

This signal mirror is very easy to use. You won't need to have any actual knowledge on how to use signal mirrors.

The only con is that it's not actually water resistant, since after my first dive the layer between the mirror and the back started to peel off.

Benadryl Benadryl Itch Relief Stick Extra Strength

Benadryl Itch Relief Stick - 14 MlI've tried Skeeter Stik in the past, but the store I went to tonight didn't have it. Picked up one of these instead. The product barely comes out of the tube and the little bit that I got out didn't even stop the itch once it had dried. I'm going back to Skeeter Stik and will never look at Benadryl's version again.

I bought this for an occasional mild allergic skin reaction. It seems to work about half the time I use it. And every once in a while, it seems to make itching worse. On the positive side, application is very convenient. I had the same problems as others initially getting the product to dispense, until I figured it out (you can't get it going well if you're pressing the applicator against soft tissue). To get it to work: press firmly down on any bony protuberance (e.g., a knuckle, a wrist, an ankle) several times to get the product started. Then, just apply to where you need it! That part works like a charm.

We had this in our medicine cabinet and after fishing one day I noticed I got tons of bug bites near my ankles. They itched like crazy. Now I use this stuff everyday and they are already settling down. The reason why I didn't give it 5 stars is because of how it's applied. It's like a deodorant stick kind of like the ones with the balls that twirl around. It takes forever to get it out. You have to push down on it, so some comes through the top and then apply it. It doesn't seem like much is applied, but it still works after putting it on. Within 10 minutes or so, there is no more itching at all. I highly recommend this.

I bought this because my daughter had a bug bite on her forehead and was complaining about how itchy it was.

The dispense mechanism is a little bit odd, so I practiced on my hand, in the end I decided not to put in on her head because it would require me to push on her bug bite quite a bit, and she might complain more.

Fast forward to a few hours later and my hand was super itchy, upon examination I could see a little bit of a rash developing, it's been a week now and I still have this rash, it has traveled up my forearm and I am very uncomfortable. I can't believe that something that is advertised to stop the itch produced such a foul reaction in the opposite direction. It seems like this has not been everyone's experience, but if you have the least bit of sensitive skin I DO NOT RECOMMEND this!

2nd Skin Moist Burn Pads - 4 pack - 2"x3"

2nd Skin Moist Burn Pads - 4 pack - 2'x3'I got this a box of this stuff as part of my "doomsday" kit after the tragic earthquake and tsunami in Japan. One night soon after I got this box I nuked .. err .. over nuked gravy in a bowl to pour over some meatloaf. No, this was not a planned test! I picked the bowl up, burned 3 of the fingers on my right hand while using a towel to pick it up one handed, and then dropped the white hot bowl of molten gravy which then proceeded to coat and cook all 4 finger from the first knuckle down to the fingertips on the left hand. In the meantime dummy here tried to grab the bowl again with the right fingers (bare). Wrong move. Getting splashed with molten gravy was like getting hit with boiling oil that sticks so it burned until I rinsed the stuff off. Grabbing after the nuclear gravy covered bowl wasn't too smart either. I rushed to the sink to run water over my fingers and realized that I needed to keep them cold continually because they started burning again as soon as I pulled them out of the water. This one was more than your average burn and I use a keyboard for a living so having 7 roasted fingers was not something I was looking forward to.

Just then it dawned on me that I had just recently gotten this burn gel stuff and decided to give it a test. Man this stuff is great. You just apply it to the burned area and tape it in place. You don't have to keep replacing it like you have to keep re-wetting a towel or keeping your burn in ice water. The gel pads immediately stopped the burning and easily lasted 24 hours without need for replacement until I changed the bandage the next day. If I had used a wet towel I'd have been wetting it constantly all night long unless I used ice through a towel and that gets messy. After using the burn pad I did not get any blisters nor any burn markings on my fingers. This stuff works for the minor burns that hurt like he11. I don't know about real serious burns but I'm sure they'll provide excellent relief until medical attention is sought. It claims to help reduce scarring. I don't know if I got burned bad enough to tell if I'd have had scars but would imagine it would help since it is sterile and comforting. My fingers felt much better the next day as long as I kept the pad on. I had cut it up for each finger. By the 36th hour I no longer needed them and the fingers felt fine again. I can swear by these. I could even use my keyboard with the pads taped to my fingers.

The pad material resembles jellyfish flesh somewhat and feels moist and cool on the application side. Its a tad over a millimeter thick. Each one comes sealed in a sterile packet.

This is great to keep handy around the house. You can even add a pad or two to your emergency kit if you have one.

I highly recommend you keep some on hand.

i've used this product not for the traditional use...i use it for under my eyes for puffiness, I store them in the fridge and then put them on for about 20 minutes works great; however this was the most i've ever paid for them and for some reason i thought it was packaged differently my mistake i guess.

Dr. Blaine's Tineacide Foot And Shoe Spray, 2-Ounce Bottle

Dr. Blaine's Tineacide Foot And Shoe Spray, 2 Ounce BottleI purchased this product together with the antifungal cream for nails to treat a 25-year old tinea infection... And it is working!!

Constance is the word. If you are constant with your treatment, you will start seeing results after a few days!

I usually get this product from another site but I think the price is better here. The fumes this spray makes when I use it really choke me, so I have to either spray it outside or hold my breath & then leave the room immediately until the smell dissipates, but otherwise this product really works at curbing foul shoe odor. The best way to use it is to spray it in new shoes to prevent odor from developing, but it also works on shoes that have already developed some odor. The noxious smell of the product isn't detectable in the shoe after it dries, but unfortunately it's really horrible during use so hold your breath.

I suffered from athlete's foot my entire adult life. One thing I noticed over the years however was that when I bought new shoes, my attacks were less frequent. But as soon as I put my old shoes back on, wham! Even if I hadn't worn my old shoes in many months I could count on an attack like clockwork. I couldn't find much info on this topic or a single product in the drug stores to treat it but I KNEW something was going on in my shoes.

After years of trying one product or another on my feet (most of which actually made my condition WORSE because they left my feet damp/clammy in my shoes), a doctor gave me a free sample of Tineacide. First trials seemed positive so I bought a couple of bottles and sprayed down ALL my shoes then Hallelujah!!! I have not had a single attack and it's been over 2 years now!! The best part is that I haven't needed any more spray in 2 years as well but I'm buying some more now just to go through my shoes once again.

One final note, if you are suffering from toenail fungus you will need more help than this product unfortunately as toenail fungus is definitely an "in your toe" problem (I had this as well) and my belief is that Tineacide works best for your shoes. "Curanail" is a product I recommend for toenail fungus and/or a trip to your doctor but totally curable as well. For the first time in over 20 years I can say that I have healthy feet!!!

Want Dr. Blaine's Tineacide Foot And Shoe Spray, 2-Ounce Bottle Discount?

Not sure how effective this stuff is on toenail fungus, so far I've noticed no major improvement. However I do believe I've found a great replacement product for Pepper Spray, this stuff will totally gag you, so be very careful where you spray your shoes or toes. Seriously it could replace Pepper Spray.

07/02/13 Update: I've been using the spray every night and it does seem to help my problem. Short of going to a doctor and getting some poison pill to kill the nail fungus, keeping it in check is the next best thing. I do have to spray in another room but that's no big deal.

Swim n Play 4-Ounce Vinyl Liner Patch Kit

Swim n Play 4-Ounce Vinyl Liner Patch KitMy kit was in like new condition when received. I used it to patch two holes in the bottom of a 24' above ground pool under 12,500 gallons of water. I applied the patches as per the directions and it worked like magic. I have since checked the patches (2 weeks later) and they are "welded" to the liner.

You basically cut a patch about 2 to 3 inches in diameter, squirt on a generous amount of glue then fold the patch in half like a taco. Take the patch down to the bottom of the pool (yes even under water) and firmly spread it over the hole. Squeeze out the excess glue to the edges. You will have to come up for air a few times but keep returning to the area and press the patch down working the glue out to the edge. After two or three times the patch is stuck and stuck good!!

The people having problems with this kit probably have an incompatible surface they are trying to bond too. The glue smells like a gelled MEK substance that actually melts the vinyl a bit.

I too received the product only to find the glue hard and unusable. After 15 min of searching the return policy and another 15 on the phone with customer service i was able to order a replacement without having to return the item and Amazon garanteed it will not be defective. The customer service was helpful.

These "bandaids" are the best. My husband uses a CPAP machine, and until we engineered a little bandaid help, he'd develop an ugly, painful pressure ulcer on the bridge of his nose.

We tried other bandaids (actual Band Aid brand, 3 M, and others) and they all left a sticky, icky residue. Not these.

These stick where you want them for as long as you want them to; then, when you peel them off, they come off painlessly and don't leave a sticky mess behind. We use two, trim them to size & they stay put all night long. These are hard to find locally; really glad to be able to get them through Subscribe & Save. A winner!

Nexcare Nexcare Gentle Paper First Aid Tape Tan 3/4 X 8 Yds

Nexcare Gentle Paper First Aid Tape, 3/4' x 8 yds-Tan-1 rollThis is great quality tape. I can't find tan tape anywhere near my home, I had a spot removed at the dermotologist and she asked me to keep tape on the spot for 2+ months and use care not to burn the area and we live in central Florida so I keep it covered all the time. This tape is heavy, sticks well and blends in whth skin to not look so obvious.

I tried a brand other than nexcare, and it was all I could find locally so it was white, but it didn't stick well, was thin and stuck out like a sore thumb.

I was so excited when this tape arrived in the mail. I will highly recommend.

Around 5 years ago, I attended a special class on using my nose to breathe with instead of my mouth because of respiratory problems and they suggested using tape to keep my mouth closed at night while sleeping. This tape works great for that. No longer do I have problems waking with my mouth all dried out and my tongue stuck to the roof of my mouth.

NaturVet Tender Foot Foot Pad and Elbow Cream for Dogs -- 5 oz

NaturVet Tender Foot Foot Pad and Elbow Cream for Dogs -- 5 ozThis is a great cream that immediately absorbs into the paw pads. Within ten seconds of rubbing it is absorbed enough that the animal cannot lick the product off. I have also used this on my old dog's dry, cracked nose, much to the same effect. Is softening the large callouses on his feet a little at a time... which is good, considering those are his shoes and I don't want his shoes to be too soft!

Five star. Not too runny, not too thick. No strange smells. Dogs (3 of them) don't seem to mind.

Stephan Baby Boo Bunnie Ice Pack and Boo Cube

Stephan Baby Boo Bunnie Ice Pack and Boo Cube, RosebudThis thing is so tiny, I think it must be 3" total across. You would think that the underside would be covered in rabbit material, but no. The underside and top side, behind the ears, are just a little blue block. This cover you see only covers all sides, but not top or bottom of the blue block that is supposed to be the ice pack. It's a hard blue square and once you freeze it, the block will be come extremely cold with frost on it. So tell me, who wants to put a frozen plastic block on your child? I thought that was the point of this thing. To have it be an ice pack for boo boos? How can that be if it's open with no cover?? Would you get an ice pack from your freezer and put it skin to skin?? No. So why would we put this little frozen plastic square skin to skin on our baby?? This company needs to toss this design and get the rabbit material on the underside to protect baby's skin!!!!

Also, it's so damn small, it's like the size of a mouse at Petco. Unless you plan on using it sideways, you will give your baby freezer burn in no time at all. I am returning this for a refund, STUPID IDEA.

The little ice block fits nicely in the bunny holder, and the bunny holder is adorable, but there is no material to act as a barrier between the ice block and the child's skin unless you use the too-thick bunny side. I recommend putting a thin piece of cloth around the ice block before sandwiching it in the bunny holder.

I have 2 of these! When one of my twins gets hurt its more of a destraction then a cold compress. But while they are playing with it I can put the other one on their boo boo. Many people talked about the design and how the bottoms open and their should be a barrier there. Personally, I could go either way. A lot of other child cold packs aren't even cold due to the thick barriers. The ice cube on this isn't harmfully cold, and it melts very fast to avoid harming kids skin. my kids love it!

Nexcare Skin Crack Care .24 fluid ounces (7-ml)

Nexcare Skin Crack Care .24 fluid ounces I was extremely pleased for many years with the original Band-Aid Liquid Bandage which contained the miracle ingredient 2-octyl cyanoacrylate, a human-safe version of superglue which is currently used by doctors/surgeons/vets as the best available product. This Nexcare product doesn't work as well in any respect compared to the original, and 3M knows it, but it is no longer sold over the counter to people (evidently too many folks were not careful in using it). Note that acetone (horribly stinky nail-polish remover) or mineral oil or any superglue remover does remove this human-safe version of superglue, but this was not common-enough knowledge and folks did not have a remover readily available when they misused it. So it was removed from the consumer market several years ago, evidently due to liability concerns.

I used the original Band-Aid liquid bandage for many years for my painful winter skin cracks. A miracle product since it instantly cut the pain. When it was discontinued I tried literally every other product on the market and all had serious deficiencies. This Nexcare liquid bandaid is adequate in filling skin cracks except it doesn't cut the pain at all (my main gripe) and doesn't last nearly as long.

I just serendipitously stumbled onto the wikipedia entry for Cyanoacrylate, which includes this in its introductory remarks:

"2-octyl cyanoacrylate is a medical grade glue encountered under various trade names; e.g., LiquiBand, SurgiSeal, FloraSeal, Dermabond, Orabase, Surgi-Lock and Nexaband. This was developed to be non-toxic and less irritating to skin tissue."

I searched amazon and the only two products in the list of 2-octyl cyanoacrylate products above from wikipedia that are sold (by amazon) are Dermabond (0.5ml for $17) and Surgi-Lock 2oc (2.0ml for $40). There is no other liquid bandage that compares to a product with the main ingredient cyano 2oc -at least that is what the medical establishment believes (and I know from years of experience, having tried all the liquid bandages on the market). Sorry the real stuff is expensive, but you get what you pay for (plus they can charge doctors nearly any price and get away with it).

===============================================================

Off topic somewhat, the doctors in our family have recently turned me on to an excellent non-liquid bandage which they use, but a year later, pharmacies still do not sell this quite amazing product. However Amazon does sell it, "3M Micropore paper tape" (also called "3M Micropore surgical tape" because that's what surgeons use). 12 small portable rolls of 10 yards(!) each are about $10, which will last you forever. I have been using the 1" wide version for the past year (also have the 2" wide version, but haven't had a wound that wide yet :-) and am very impressed by its properties. You can easily tear it by hand (no scissors needed!) to the length you want, you can put it on a wound in one layer or wrap it around a finger one or more times. It is "micropore", ie. it lets the wound breathe, and is waterproof enough to stay on through a couple of days of showers.

I've been using Nexcare skin crack care for a few years. It is the best. Don't assume it's like liquid bandage, 'cause it's not. It actually fills the cracks up and let's them heal. I also use it to 'paint' the whole top of my thumb or finger when it looks like a crack is going to start. It helps keep the skin closed up. Everybody I've told about this product calls me to tell me how thankful they are that they found out about it. A tip: if the liquid starts getting a little thick and gooey, add a drop or two of acetone (pure acetone, not regular nail polish remover). It thins it out again so it will brush on smooth. Acetone is what my dermatologist uses on my skin before treatment, so I figure it's safe.

This is the only thing that works for dry, cracked-to-the-nerve fingers. After working with cardboard boxes from overseas, my skin opens up within a day. This product seals the cracks, keeping the exposed lower layers of skin from making me cry in pain, and it works within the minute. Another miracle from 3M.

Read Best Reviews of Nexcare Skin Crack Care .24 fluid ounces (7-ml) Here

Nexcare's Skin Crack Care is one of the very best products I've ever discovered. There are ingredients that promote healing while sealing the sore spot so that water and soap don't even cause a flinch, and I find that cracks, cuts, even bleeding cuticles are improved immediately. The applicator (similar to the type of applicator used for nail polish) allows the user to easily coat anything from a paper cut to a scrape or a deep crack on a finger or heel with the product, and the BEST PART is IT DOESN'T EVEN BURN the way Second Skin and Liquid Bandaid do. I have used this product on babies and little children with nothing but smiles from them.

(The only time it ever stung was in a deep or very raw injury when the brush pushed too hard into the sore.)

There are two drawbacks -1) the price is steep but TRULY, the product is WELL WORTH IT.

The other drawback -it gets very thick when it gets toward the bottom of the little bottle, but that may be because I am so sparing with it that it probably does what my chocolate does when I save it WAY beyond the age date, and that is probably pretty normal considering the Law of Entropy.

The stuff really works. IT takes away the pain of the skin cracks in my hands and helps to keep them sealed from germs. It also speeds up the healing process. I haven't found anything that works better!

Howard Leight FUS30-HP Fusion Earplug Reg Corded In Hearpack (3 Pair)

Howard Leight FUS30-HP Fusion Earplug Reg Corded In Hearpack
  • Noise Reduction Rate (NRR): 27 dB
  • Size: Regular
  • Type: Corded
  • Reuseable
  • Qty: 3 Pair

I received a pair of Howard Leight Fusion ear plugs several years ago at a trade show and have been using them ever since. With some plugs you have to roll them between your fingers and wait from the foam to expand, while transfering whatever was on your fingers to the ear plugs and then into your ear. With these, you merely push them into your ear and after using put them back into the carry case. I re-used the same pair a couple hundred times. Some styrofoam types "swell up" after inserting and create presure in the ear area resulting in a headache. These are the most comfortable earplugs you'll ever wear, I've forgotten I had them in before. I highly recommend them.

Ear plugs fit comfortably, better than jelly type. I take them to the range and they do the job quite well, you can still hear up-close conversation while wearing them.

I wear these earplugs for a water aerobics class where the music is TOO loud. The earplugs don't shut out all of the noise but they go a long way towards making the loud music bearable.

I like the fact that these are corded. Otherwise I might lose one of them.

These are fairly comfortable and seemed to block out the noise well enough. I used them while shooting my 44 Mag, which is very loud. No complaints with their function.

3M Medipore Soft Cloth Tape 4" x 10 yd QTY: 1

3M Medipore Soft Cloth Tape 4' x 10 yd QTY: 1This tape sticks extremely yet doesn't hurt to take off if taken off slowly and not just ripped.I tried all the ones you get at other local retailers and pharmacies and they either didn't stick or my skin reacted to the adhesive. This tape held the dressing on without fail and the adhesive didn't irritate my skin. The tape is soft and flexible.

This is wonderful tape. When you change dressings twice a day this is easier on the patient . We were very grateful .

The soft cloth is O.K. But it wasn't at all what I expected. I thought it would be better quality.

Spenco 2nd Skin Adhesive Knit

Spenco 2nd Skin Adhesive KnitWe love to hike. This is the only stuff that stays where you put it without wadding up and causing blisters and sore spots.

I've used Spenco Adhesive Knit for years. I love these sheets. I pre-cut them into small pieces the size I need, then I have a ready-to-go blister prevention kit. I put it on before a hike and take some with me in case my friends need some for their hot spots. The Spenco material is thin and stays put. It stands up to all day wear and hangs on in water pretty well too.

This product is perfect for my use covering sensitive skin areas on the bottom of my feet when I walk 15 or 20 miles. The price was lower than I could find anywhere else, shipping was fast, and the kit did NOT contain extra items that I don't use. I'll buy this again when my supply gets low!

I'm used to the moleskin from my Army days, so this material is much thinner, but seems to work just as well. Adhesive sticks very well.
