Aircast Air-Stirrup Ankle Brace

I'll preface this review by saying that I MAY have needed a smaller size--I ordered the "standard" size--I'm a women's size 8 wide shoe and a "big" girl, so the small seemed unlikely to fit. I do have quite narrow heels, but not freakishly so....it just didn't work for me.

I tried every way of adjusting the straps, I tried with the shoe and without the shoe, a sock under and a sock over, an ace wrap around the outside to pull it together more....frankly, the slippery plastic covering the air cells, combined with the fact that the lowest strap sits significantly ABOVE the ankle allowed my foot and ankle to twist all over the place inside this brace. I honestly got better support and more wobble restriction from a regular Ace wrap than with this--I finally ended up in this ridiculous walking-boot-cast thing, but I can walk around like a normal person without a cane or walker for the first time in six months.

The brace SEEMS like it should absolutely keep one's ankle from flexing sideways, but at least for me, that wasn't the case.

My chiropractor recommended the brace for a displaced fracture. Only thing to remember is that you don't have full range of motion and if you wear it too long in your shoe, it's a bit uncomfortable. However, he price was right and did the job.

Right after a sprain and during the early recovery stage, this brace is great. I appreciate the rigid support, which helps healing and prevents re-injury. It is something to wear only when needed so the muscles get used normally at other times. It fits into my tennis shoes, but, unfortunately, not into my tighter hiking boots. I don't wear it often and have not used it a long time, so I can not speak to the problem some people have had with the little piece that goes under the foot breaking. For preventing re-injury during a later stage of recover, the ASO Ankle Stabilizer brace (without the plastic inserts)would be better.

The bacitracin was fine, same as you find in any drug store in the US. However, the overseas rate was astronomical.. I was completely aware of this though, so I can't complain. I just know it does not cost near that much to send a 1 oz. tube of ointment overseas. It is something we did need though.

I have to wrap my arm each night with short stretch wraps to keep the swelling from lymphedema from getting out of control for the rest of my life. I need this tape to secure the wraps and this tape keeps them in place even if I toss and turn in bed. The quality is good and I can use each strip I attach for 3-4 nights before I replace it with another strip. This salve has a nice herbal scent and seems to work as a first aid salve. Today, I went to use my salve and discovered that my small plastic container that I was using to store my salve was covered with small ants. I am not sure what ingredient the ants were attracted to, however they were all over this stuff. Just beware to store it in an area that critters can't get to it. I also noticed that the salve will melt at temperatures above 80 degrees. Even at room temperature it seems rather soft.

Tea Tree 100% Pure Essential Oil - 30 ml

I purchased the tea tree oil because I have a problem with my toe nails.This stuff is awesome.My toes are clearing up very nicely.If you have any fungus or nail discoloration I would recommend this product.I Have purchased many over the counter medicines and nothing has helped.This is the only thing that has made a difference.

I used to suffer from mild acne especially during the winter months when the air was dry. My skin would get really flaky and the dead skin cells would clog my pores. I tried everything from Pro Active, all the acne products on the market, even that Zeno product (which did not work for me.)

I use the Tea Tree Oil twice a day and still have 2/3 a bottle left, so it will last you quite a while. I haven't used it for other things yet just for acne. The smell is a little odd at first, but you get used to it. I guess that's about it, I hope this product works for everyone else as well!

Most of the reviews here are about tea tree oil in general. I love it; it works well when washing cloth diapers. It's a wonder product.

But what about this particular one? It's got a widget to let out individual drops. For my needs that widget is a little over-eager: maybe five or six drops a second.

This product is a little expensive. Once shipping is included, it's over ten dollars; I can get the same amount of tea tree oil at Whole Foods for $5. It depends on how much you want that little widget.

For what it's worth, I use several drops every single day (on the diapers) and the bottle will last me six months.

I love tea tree for its range of healing uses, but I read that it can be very toxic to cats. I would have never guessed, but some cats have died due to the tea tree oil absorbing through the skin, or the cat licking it off it's coat. It is awesome for us, just be careful with your fur faced friends!

Sometimes my lips get so dry I think they are going to fall off. I've used lots of products over the years, and waxy sticks do nothing! I went out to eat, had dinner, and reapplied. My lips, never felts so good and the color of my lips were beautiful and healthy looking. Although no dyes or coloring are in it, my lips looked so supple and kissable, I can now smile as I type this. The cracked skin doesnt sting and the ragged edges are so soft. It looks like I have a new pair of lips after 2 hrs. My husband tried it, and he likes it, too! Totally unisex and no offensive color or scent. I will be buying these as stocking stuffers for family. I will no longer waste $2-3 again for any brand of chapstick-like lip treatment again. This is top notch! Plus, they are local ~Newton, MA.

Rusch Asherman Chest Seal

The Asherman Chest seal IS a real life saver when truly needed! I have used the HyFin, Halo, Bolin and Pulmostat(No longer available). Each of these have differences. I like the Asherman as it is VERY easy to apply especially in tight places. The adhesive works well even on wet and bloody skin. I like the Asherman as clots can be suctioned from the soft flapper valve easily. I have seen others clot up and fail. The Asherman is effective in re-expanding the lung and helping to relieve mediastinal shift secondary to tension pneumothorax. Remember that other chest wounds, especially exit wounds of the back, must be sealed off for any venting chest seal to work correctly. The Asherman does when properly used!

Ivarest Medicated Poison Ivy Cleansing Foam, 6 Ounce

When it comes to poison ivy or poison oak, prevention is the key. While shopping for Technu, a product I've used successfully for years, I noticed Ivarest the poison ivy cleansing foam that costs half as much as Technu. With visions of dollar savings dancing in my head, I decided to give the Ivarest a try.

If used soon after exposure to wash off the urushiol from the skin, Ivarest is very effective. Rub it on the affected area, let it work a little while and then wash off with cool water. I made the mistake of using hot water which opens the pores and gives the urushiol an opening. After the first time, I try to remember to rinse off with cool or lukewarm water.

After the rash develops, Ivarest is soothing and comforting for mild cases of poison ivy rash. For a serious rash the soothing effect of Ivarest is limited. The only remedy that worked for me was Calamine lotion.

Now I keep Ivarest by the sink and use it any time I even think I may have been exposed to poison ivy. Ivarest is an excellent preventive measure and well worth the price.

I am exceedingly allergic to poison ivy and after a recent outbreak went looking for Tecnu, a cleansing liquid which I've used many times in the past. Unable to find that product I bought a bottle of Ivarest foam at my local Walmart. This product is easy to apply, EFFECTIVE, and reasonably priced. I strongly recommend folks keep this in their medicine cabinet and be prepared to use it at that first burning itch.

This came highly recommended, maybe I did not give it a shot long enough. I found that Tide granular detergent and bleach was just as simple if not simpler(more effective). I do keep this by my sink now though, if working in the garden I ALWAYS wash with this when I am done!

SAM Medical Splint

SAM splints are a technological wonder.

As a ski patroller I carry two of these in my pack and they work incredibly well. It folds out to be pretty long, probably 3 1/2 feet total, but I've rarely used the entire length and normally double it up for strength reasons. These splints are incredibly useful and LIGHT! They also fold into a triangle really well and once you curve the splint, it stiffens right up. When the splint is flat like how you see in the picture, it's easy to fold and manipulate. Once you curve the long edge of it, like if you were to make a long tunnel for a matchbox car, then the splint becomes super stiff. It works just as good in the cold as it does the heat, and if you need to wrap tape around it, it sticks well even in the cold. It's a great accessory to have in a medical bag that weighs pretty much nothing.

Excellent for packing trips. One splint weighs 4.6 oz, so it has minimal impact on your load. It is very malleable, but holds its shape when needed. The outer covering is a foam, and the inside is aluminum. I highly recommend that you bring at least one on avery excursion where 911 access or EMS is more than a few hours away. Don't forget the triangular bandages!

I bought these to add to First Aid Kits at a school. The barrier is a thick plastic sheet with a hard plastic insert in the middle. Right out of the package, part of the plastic sheet is cracked at a fold. The insert is not a one-way valve, but does contain a filter. The lower portion of the insert is about 1 1/4" x 1 1/3" x 1/3" and is intended to be placed between the victim's teeth during CPR. On an adult this might work, but could cause delay placing the insert properly. My main concern would be in using this in a child's mouth, which would have more difficulty fitting between the teeth, and could also push back on the tongue. Overall, this is an inexpensive barrier that might work for adults, but a different design might be considered for all uses, especially for children.

Great inexpensive alternative to the insanely overpriced B$A stuff. These are single-use disposable barriers, but that's all you need for a portable/hiking first aid kit.

It's difficult to review a product ordered to stock a more complete first aid kit. I haven't used the burn dressings, which is good for me and my family, but it doesn't make for a good review. The price was the best I could find. Delivery was prompt. The dressings are a nice, flat package for stowing in a first aid kit. We have bonfires in our yard periodically, and having these on hand is a wise precaution. Hopefully, I will never get the opportunity to do a more thorough review.
