Examination:
I tested all three with different parts of my neck. Paper Towels are okay, they still feel cool, since water absorbs heat like crazy. This is the control. However, after using Ergodyne and Frogg Toggs, I noticed that they were significantly cooler, since they stayed cool, where as Your Generic Paper Towels will stop being cool after a few minutes.
Anyways, Ergodyne when opened, smelt like gasoline, corn oil, or diesel. Fairly off-putting, I had to use soap and water to clean it. As of right now, (15 minutes later) the Ergodyne is less cool than my Frogg Toggs, suggesting that they evaporate water much quicker than Frogg Toggs.
In any case, when I opened the Frogg Toggs, it smelt as if someone wiped their...A** with it. Quite like if you had the mixture of manure and some sort of sour or expired milk. This was the most off-putting of smells. I still smell it faintly, even though it was washed with soap and water.
And Paper Towels? I don't think I need to evaluate them, since everyone can test with a paper towel.
Findings: All seem to be cool to the touch, but some are a bit cooler than others. Why? I assume that Frogg Toggs absorb and retain the most water, making them the most "cool".
#3: Paper Towels: Paper Towels are cool, but don't match up to the other two.
#2: Ergodyne: Not as effective as Frogg Toggs, but if you're hot you probably won't know/care about the difference.
#1: Frogg Toggs: The most effective, but Ergodyne's is a close second.
In short, this Ergodyne towel is nice and it works, but for ten dollars, I feel that I could just use some regular ol' towel for a much cheaper price. At least they don't smell.
Edit: And you could just buy a towel, because I used a new test, a damp shirt. After getting a splash of juice on it, I applied some water and soap. I then questioned the efficacy between a damp shirt and this towel. I then placed my towel near the stain. There was no real difference in temperature between this towel and this a wet shirt. In order to get this towel cold, I advise placing it in a fridge, or as a chilled/frozen plastic bottle water cover.
Update: If your towel starts to get warm, please grab the towel and spin it around in a circle. That'll make it cool again.

What a life saver. My apartment is on the top floor and is not air conditioned. We've been having humid, 100+ degree weather, and I would not survive without this towel. Yes, it's refreshing if you drape it on your neck or arm, but if you want your body temperature to plummet, here's what you do. Pour some cold water on it (refridgerated water, if you have it). *Barely* wring it out. This towel can be saturated and it still won't drip. Now drape the towel across your lap, or lay it on your chest/stomach. Better yet, lie down on it. You will be cold immediately. In fact, it might even be too cold for you! It works best when it's flat on your skin, which is why it's more effective to lay it on your torso or legs than it is to just drape it over your neck with a shirt on.Now, it's true that this is basically a glorified synthetic chamois, like you'd use to dry your car. It's a tiny bit thicker, but not by much. If you want to spend only $5 instead of $10, go down to your local auto store and see if they have one in the car cleaner section. You'll know it's the right material if it comes rolled up in a tube and packaged in its own plastic wrap. It's called "PVA" material.
In any case, buy this, or something like it. Chill-Its, Frogg Toggs, or a generic PVA chamois, you will find instant relief. I bought mine for $13 in the store, and I have zero regrets. I would recommend this in a heartbeat.

i have now bought this first aid box in both white and red, and i love both!yes, the size is a bit smaller than i had anticipated (roughly 6"x8", and 3" deep), however i find for home use, this is the perfect size.
the left side is available for larger items (i.e.: gauze pads, very large band aids, perhaps a wrap), whereas the right side is sectioned off for smaller items (i.e.: band-aids, cleaning pads, antibiotic ointment).
i really do love these boxes, however if you were looking for something to put in an office, perhaps this would be a bit too small. i doubt you could fit one of those instant ice packs in here without issue, let alone much else after that except small band-aids.
either way, this sturdy metal first aid box is fantastic! i haven't hung mine up, but it does come with the necessary hardware to do so.

I purchased one of these steps for my 80s-something mother who was having trouble getting out of her walk-in shower. I had it shipped to her house and she was able to unpack and place it with ease. I also accidentally purchased a second one that was mailed directly to me. At first I thought to return it but my husband broke his leg and it was a great non-slip bath-tub leg rest for him. Later I was working on tiling and remodeling a shower. I grabbed the step so that I would have a non-slip surface to stand on while I grouted tile. It is a little worse for the wear but both I and my builder use it often for to reach those extra few inches when we want to be safe. I could not be happier with both of them.May 2011, 1 year update. April 2012, 2 year update. The bath steps are still in service and show no signs of wear. I was even able to clean the construction detritus off of mine so that it looks fine now.

My first purchase of this type product. I was so pleased after receiving and using overnight, I bought a second one the next day. Haven't used with heat, only cold and recommend using the ice packs you probably already have in your freezer. The included pack freezes too rigid if frozen for many hours/overnight. The instructions CLEARLY STATE to freeze for only 1 hr., (probably as instructed by the manufacturers legal department) so in today's litigious society, you can't fault the maker. Just use your own judgment if you're the type who takes responsibility for your own actions, and this product should work for you just fine.Everything is solid. The instructions tell you to mix the contents of the package in 1/4 cup of warm water and then add more (cool) water after you get it dissolved. The first pack of lemon powder that I dumped into a measuring cup with exactly 1/4 cup of warm water immediately turned into a giant gooey blob, like the previous reviewer mentioned. After about 3-4 minutes of using a spoon to try and break the blob up (which insisted on sticking firmly to the spoon!), I finally just stuck my bare hand in the solution and tried to break it up by grinding it between my fingers. 6-7 minutes into this process, I finally had the goo mostly broken up. So I got another pack out for trial run #2, but this time I used about 1 cup of very warm water and attempted to vigorously stir the water with one hand while trying to dump very gradual, small amounts of the powder into the fast-moving water. This definitely worked better, but it would have been easier if I had three hands instead of two. This time the powder dissolved pretty well. I suppose if you were at home and had a blender handy, that would be the best way to mix this stuff. If you were in the backcountry and had only cool stream water to mix it with...well good luck! So problem number one is the difficulty in mixing. Problem number two was the absolutely horrendous taste...of the lemon anyway. I mean you mix this stuff up so that it's diluted in a full liter of water, so you have quite a task in front of you in terms of drinking disgusting tasting water when you're already possibly sick and nauseated. I'm very let down by this product. Maybe the proportions of ingredients are top notch in terms of electrolytes/glucose. I don't know. What I do know is that it's not very user friendly and tastes like a liquid turd! I'm going to start searching for another option for sure.

I tried this product because a friend highly recommended it for sore throats. I used it once and could tell it would be helpful. BUT after using it I became extremely dizzy this lasted about 10 hours, diminishing as time went on. I also felt nauseous and very hot and my face became flushed and heated. This was after just one spritz! I looked up the ingredients and found that PEG-40 (hydrogenated) castor oil, when in vapor or finely-misted, causes dizziness and nausea (as well as eye irritation). It is rated as moderately to highly hazardous by the Environmental Working Group. So this could be a good product but I would recommend avoiding it unless the PEG-40 castor oil is taken out. I really did feel extremely sick and wish I hadn't tried it.

I have used GSE for years and always used it for that infrequent bout of bronchitis. I can't find tan tape anywhere near my home, I had a spot removed at the dermotologist and she asked me to keep tape on the spot for 2+ months and use care not to burn the area and we live in central Florida so I keep it covered all the time.
