The First Years American Red Cross Hospital Style Nasal Aspirator

My brother bought one of these when we were visiting and our baby got a stuffy nose... you can barely squeeze this thing, let alone use it to clear a stuffy nose... total waste, I can't believe they even put this to market.

I can't believe they can sell this, much less put the Red Cross name on it. It does not work. Period. I cannot squeeze it with all my might (and my husband, who can, still says it doesn't suck after he does). I'm incredulous how this got created and passed as a healthcare tool. It is just a hard piece of plastic that does not work. Buy a different one before you need to use this and find it is worthless.

Got this as part of a first aid kit and I have since replaced it with the aspirator I got at the hospital. The bulb is so stiff it is impossible to squeeze which makes the thing all but useless. I expected more from something with the American Red Cross name. Very disappointed.

Wish I could give this zero stars. I also bought this at Target and it's horrible. The plastic is so stiff you need two hands to squeeze it and then it doesn't pop back into shape fast enough to actually suck any snot out. It's not "hospital style". it's just shaped like the ones from the hospital. The ones at the hospital are soft and effective, but you have to toss them after a day because they can't be cleaned. I think I'll just buy a lot of those and toss them when I'm done--if it costs more it's worth it to help my baby breathe.

Hi, my name is Sonja. I have MS & a mild problem with bladder control. When I saw this hour glass shape, I thought,,hmmm, looks like ie might be more comfortable. And I was RIGHT ! The shape was really made for COMFORT,, No chaffing, no slipping arround ! For me, it was like no pad at all ! And it comes with an inclusive more than big enough for proper disposqal...It is actually a pretty purple ! Sort of a disguise I thought ! The new hourglass shape is not only more comfortable than the straight pads, it makes the pads more efficient by minimizing the side leaks that occur if the pad bunch up. I was skeptical about the length because I had been using the extra long variety , but I found my worries to be groundless. The hourglass shape and aborbent filling make these very effective.

I think that they are a big improvement over the traditionally shaped incontinence pads.

I was a foreman at an ink and pigments manufacturing facility and oversaw the shipping/receiving crew and was there for over 30 years. When I started working in shipping we wore rubber gloves and it was mandatory to wear long sleeve shirts all the time even when it was 90+ degrees to protect our hands and arms from pigment residue on the containers that would rub off if/when you touched them. In the mid 1990's a salesman convinced the plant manager to try using Arretil for the whole manufacturing portion of the plant. He touted it would save money on gloves and it would provide workers exceptional skin protection from the pigments and dyes produced in our plant. We were given a notice that we were REQUIRED to use the Arretil for the next 3 months to give a better picture of how well it worked for us we were told that if it proved successful we might even be allowed to wear short sleeve shirts in the summer time. I was well aware of how badly the pigment would dye my skin if I did not have proper protection as I had pigment get inside my gloves before or find my gloves had a hole and my skin would be blue, red, etc for the next week even though I washed with a heavy pumice soap and lacquer thinner. I did not want to participate in this inevitable joke, but I needed to set a good example for my shipping department so I used the cream, but I also used gloves. We had been using the Arretil for about 2 days when I went to close a valve on an empty powder dye tote and while pushing the lever my rubber glove got pinched in the threads of the valve screw. I did not want to hit the lever backwards hard to drive the valve back open and release the glove as it would likely cause pigment dust to stir and get all over me including my face. I pulled my hand out of the glove so I could take the tote to be washed and get the glove out. When I took my hand out I found that when the valve pinched my glove it ripped a hole in the finger and my hand was now covered in a dark yellow dye (almost green). I went to the bathroom to wash off as much of the dye off as I could and to my surprise I washed off all of it! My hand was not tainted at all except under my fingernails (because I had not worked hard to get the cream under my nails in the morning). I became a firm advocate for Arretil and can state for a fact it works great. Our plant continued to use Arretil until we were bought out in 2008 at which time I retired. Arretil cream is excellent and I would highly recommend to anyone working with harsh chemicals that could stain/discolor or irritate your skin.

The bag itself is a little smaller than pictured. Not that much bigger than a soft-sided cooler that holds 16 beverage cans. With that said,..now on to the main review.

the bag is made of 800 denier nylon or so they say, seems more like 400. It has some type of water resistent coating on the inside of exposed areas, but in my test it is fair at best for water repell, i wouldnt use the bag in the rain(more on that later). The bag has a very nice padded carry handle and a decent adjustable shoulder strap. It also has a padded bottom. It has two side zippered pockets that can handle a couple of dozen gauze pads each. These are zippered. There are two expandable pouches on the front. Since they are not zippered, i would only use these for items that are already sealed,prepackaged items such as antiseptic, water-gel,etc, as they will probably get wet. Above these pockets are eight elastic holders for whatever you may want to use them for. The top flap of the bag has an internal zipper that allows storage in the entire bag lid, great for items such as space blankets that you don't use all of the time. It has two buckles and a velcro strip that attach to the lower end of the bag. Two inside flaps that cover the inside of the bag close with velcro, no zipper!! The interior of the bag is about 12x9x9. That is without the adjustable insert. Inside of the bag is a three way divider for the bag, look for it at the bottom, i almost missed it!!LOL. The divider is very well padded to provide separation on the inside. You can adjust it to suit you, but the standard dimentions for the three compartments are, 12x5, and two 6x4.

The problems i have: The compartments should be zippered. More orginizational slots. water resistant. A little bigger. No EMS designation, plain bag. Handle does not sit square when bag is loaded. Should have a zippered pocket on the back. At worst you can always use it as an overnight bag!! It lacks the true EMS organization and expandability, but for $30 it's still great if you just want to throw your stuff in a bag. Look at the pictures on adctoday.com before you buy so that you can see it better. all in all it's an ok bag, but far from great. Hope this review help fellow Amazoners!!

For a very basic first aid kit it is fine. I have it in the boot of my car and it it stocked to the brim with the basics for my skill set (Paramedic). I would not use this on a regular basis and in no way would it be practical for work but for around the home, in the car or for short trips it is fine. I have not experienced any problems with the buckles, grips or straps and all seem to be in good order. The storage system is fine for the basics. Mine hold 1L nrm saline, cannulation for 3ppl, ample pads and bandges, steth, OPs (neo to adult)/ no real room for ETT maybe LMA, emesis bags, trauma gears, temp, cuffs 3 size and basic drugs (very basic). It would be fine for about one/ two jobs (nothing major i.e.: plane vs train vs bus).

My First Year Baby Frame

It was a little different than my other baby frames but it is very nice and looks wonderful on the wall! It is just important to remember to size the face shots to fit!

The texture of the frame looks fine but not elegantly as expected like what I bought before in the Hallmark store.

This frame is pretty, and it has nice, round openings for the wallet size pics. My only complaint is that it appears to be silver metal in the photo (at least to me it does), but it isn't. It is white with silver accents. This is for my new baby daughter's pics. I wanted to match the one I have for my son, at least as closely as possible. His is a very similar design, except it is silver. So they don't match. I'm keeping it; it will do, but I was disappointed. I wish the description specified that it is white; it only says that it is metal.

I received this today but I can't wear it out of the box because the chain is too small for my head and there is no hasp.

Cons:

The chain is not 24" it is 23.5 ". The extra half inch might have made the diff for me to use it as is.

For you military minded: RTFQ! For you who are not: Buyer Beware!...the chain is stainless steel, as advertised..probably...but the fob ain't.

I was looking for a non-brass nitro fob and ass-u-me-d that both the chain and the fob were ss. Negatory on that good buddy...only the chain. I missed that little remark on the page.

Now, if you are like me and are serious about wearing a smart sized, nitro fob necklace at all times, you know base unpolished brass fobs lose the shiny coating anon reducing the GQ beach look by a factor of 10.

Pros:

Anywho, as far as size, it could be a quarter/three eights inch smaller in length and still do the job but I'm not really complaining, just sayin'. Better a tad too big, nez pas?

The diameter is slim but will handle .25 round or oblong tabs no problemo without them jamming up.

The seal looks worthy enough and I do like the top placement, it's at the end of the fob vice the top and is scored so it is easy to grasp and turn, even with wet hands. Yeah, I tested it.

One last, you can infer (imply?) from the price that it's made in China and you would be correct. Again, just sayin' for those of you like me who pay attention to where stuff you buy is made.

One last II, I'll cut the chain and use the fob until I can't stand looking at it in the mirror then search once more for the ever elusive Fob of Forever Beauty.

I purchased the NITRO PILL CASE NECKLACE by HEALTH ENTERPRISES, INC. for $2.78 + shipping. It is a well made item with a screw-in "O" ring sealed stopper. A nice chrome plated finish makes it pleasing to the eye. It holds about 8-10 Nitro pills.

I do wish the necklace part was a little longer (it's 24" as received), I would be more comfortable if it were to be around 30". The reason for this is that if I want to take a nitro, I end up dumping all the pills either into my hand or spilling/losing them due to not being able to hold the carrier out where I can control it properly in the event of having a heart attack.

I bought this for pain meds instead of Nitro. I have auto immune arthritis and need to keep them handy when I am out of the house. This fits the ticket! I wish the chain (which is very nice!) was a bit longer, but I can add to it. The case is nicely made and seals tight. Holds about 6 pills, which is plenty for me. Cannot beat this for the price! If this were in a drug store it would be 3x the price and still be worth it!

I had a problem with the shipping but that was USPS and has nothing to do with the quality of the case or the supplier. It is solid and even the ring between the case and chain was stainless steel which surprised me. Previous cases I have bought came apart and the top was all I had left because the ring was attached to the top. This type case doesn't separate.

As with the previous review, I, too, used this product in combination with Polyactil for my 90 year old mom's pressure sore on her buttocks. It works well. I would highly recommend these products to anyone. It is difficult to get recommendations from the medical community as to how to treat pressure sores except to move the person frequently. Sometimes, as is the case with my mom on dialysis, the ability to move around is difficult when you have to sit in a recliner chair for 4 hours with your feet up. This definitely helped.

I have a surgical scar that is about 2 years old and have tried dozens of products, including cortizone cream, to try to reduce the ongoing pain and skin irritation at the site. Update 12/16/2012: For the reviewers claiming that the positive reviews are fake, I want to assure you that this one is not and I have to question why you are making accusations? I was the reviewer that is quoted in the description as using it on a third-degree burn and it did exactly what I said it did. I came to this product page to update my review as I have absolutely no scarring, not even any redness remains-from a third degree burn! *I am not advising others to avoid the doctor when dealing a serious burn.* I've worked in the skincare industry for almost 10 years, for top spas and for top doctors. I'm a researcherI am also an individual who chooses to try to heal myself whenever possible. I feel lucky that I found this product when I needed it and the results were truly fantastic"miraculous" even, because I thought I may need a skin graftthe burn really was that severe. It was also quite large, maybe 4 inches by 2 inches on the underside of my forearm, along the ulna. I was amazed by how efficiently this worked as I only used a few pea-sized treatments daily and it was practically healing before my eyes. When I look at the skin under a magnifier, I can see a very slight difference in the pattern of the skin, but to the naked eye, there is no evidence of an injury. Original review: I had a large third degree burn on my forearmthe skin was down to the fatty tissue. I could even see the little holes that were my follicles! I was using neosporin and neomycin sulfate without any reprieve. The burn was still weeping and producing ooooze. This arrived in two days, and in four days, my burn now looks merely pink-like a scrape or brush-burn. I used a pea sized amount, a few times a day and it creates a second skin. I lightly taped a non-stick pad over it so no dust or debris would stick to it. I'm surprised there are so few reviews. My pain level went from 10 (heavily medicated) to 0 (without any) and I may not even scar! This is a product that I will always have around.

I bought this item thinking it would just be some cheap little kit thrown together and not really thought out to well by the company, But I was wrong! It is perfect for me except it would have been nice if there where more butterfly bandages.I primarily us this for hiking/camping The kit is well organized with 2 small pockets, and two larger pockets for storage. The casing has a somewhat reflective fabric sewn in so its easy to see in the dark with a small amount of light if you would drop it, all I added to this kit was a couple more gauze packets, but since its for hiking/camping, I wanted to lighten my bag yes I know maybe 1 ounce taken out but I didn't think it was nessicary to carry so many band-aids, there where alot! so I kept the pack of big and small, the butterfly's and ones I just think I would need, but I have no real complaints about this product at all! I would recommend it to anybody just looking for a small kit to just keep in your car or hiking/camping bag or for even around the house!

I got burned on my hand cooking and it had burn cream and band-aids. I got my hand cut hiking and it had alcohol wipes antibiotic cream and band aids. I got a splinter on firewood and the tweezers had out in a minute. Its lightweight, its soft so it squishes down small, and it takes up about as much space as a pair of socks so its great for camping and backpacking.

I wanted to get a first aid kit for my truck for emergencies and to take along on camping trips. I originally ordered a Johnson & Johnson kit and essentially got a large box of band-aids. I enlisted the help of some friends to scour amazon to see what we could come up with that was cheap, small but thorough and this was the one I settled upon. By far, much more what I was looking for as a good, basic, covers a little-bit-of-everything kit for emergencies and camping!

the straw for me to go ahead and order was that one reviewer said it came with a nice pair of scissors... he was right... very efficient, strong pair of tiny scissors in this bag... also tweezers, insect sting wipes, 3 different kinds of antiseptic/alcohol wipes (multiple of each), all different kinds of pain relief pills, all sorts of gauze AND tape, first aid cream, and a LOT of bandaids, of all shapes and sizes... i was worried there would not be enough bandaids, as I think that is most important part.

whoever reviewed and said it was the size of a deck of cards is a dimwit, just lying for some reason??? i dont get why people steer people in opposite directions here... defeats the purpose... the pack is as about the same size of a normal paperback book... I was willing to deal with its small size, cos i was curious how much stuff could fit...

theres room for MORE stuff in this pack, so before I camp the Kalalau trail, i will probably stuff it with more gauze, just in case...

i also love that there are four packets in pack, sure they may be cheap plastic, but the case is only open when u need it...

almost gave 4 stars, cos it doesnt seem waterproof... but i will just stuff in dry sack, i do not want to risk it, that would be a lot of items down the drain..

First Aid Only Sterile Emergency Pressure Dressing, Expandable, Non-stick Wound Pad With Direct Pre

I have not used one of these yet in an actual first aid emergency, but I did open one up to see how to apply it and what kind of quality it was. It is comparable to the israeli style pressure dressings, but not as bulky. It has a gauze dressing that can be folded over a couple times for smaller wounds or left as is for wider wounds, and has a kerlix style roll attached to it to wrap the dressing into place. What I found really nice about this product is that each one comes with a second roll that is not attached to the pressure dressing and can be removed to use as extra padding or for another injury.

Overall it seems like a great product that I hope to never have to use, but will be glad I have it if I need it!

Pre-packed, easy to open, sterile pressure dressings are a must have for first aid kits. I keep two in my vehicle as well for emergency use per potential accidents when bleeding needs to be addressed immediately and can't wait for EMS. Perfect for backpacking and camping as well, takes up very little room and can be the difference walking away from or being carried out from a life threatening event.

My daughter asked for a stethoscope for Christmas...??? I wanted to grab a "cheap" one so I found this one online and ordered it. Actually not cheap at all...good quality material! She LOVED it!

I don't know much about stethoscopes, but this one seems to work well enough. My doctor told me to get one so I could get used to hearing my son's breathing and recognize when he's wheezing before using the nebulizer so we don't overuse it. It is hard to hear my son breathing, which is good cause I know he's not wheezing.
