Adventure Medical Pocket Medic First Aid Kit

Adventure Medical Pocket Medic First Aid Kitgood quality package, but you really want to tear it open (breaking the seal) to top it up so that it's fully packed. Perfect sizing and weight, however.

First Aid Only 1-1/2" X 10 Yd. Porous Cloth Athletic Tape Roll, 16-Count Boxes

First Aid Only 1-1/2' X 10 Yd. Porous Cloth Athletic Tape Roll, 16-Count BoxesSorry I don't have a better description of this review, but I purchased this to save money for my gymnast daughter who uses a lot.

But for what it's worth, she complained that it isn't as good as the name brands the gym buys or what I would get her at Walmart. She said it's harder to handle.

It's more like first aid tape, than athletic tape.

Profoot Profoot Vita-Gel Corn Wraps

ProFoot Vita-Gel Corn Wraps, 3 ct.I have been using these for a long time. They have saved me a lot of pain. I haven't had any of the problems that Sangeet complains of. I suppose that everyone's foot is different, but I know that as long as I use these lovely thingys I do not get a corn between my toes. There is no adhesive to make your toe sticky and they have the advantage of being reusable for a long time with a little care. I just rinse them out and let them dry overnight. I have been reusing the same couple of wraps for many months.

I use these for my big toe for sandals and open toe high heel shoes that rub or pinch my toe right by my toe nail. These things are a life saver for that!! They can be used several times and you can wash them out by hand to re use them. They do not take up extra space in the shoes so they do not make the shoes tight. You can not tell I am wearing it either which is great!! I can also cut them to size for if I am wearing a sandal with a narrow strap over my toes. Again, I love these for shoes that bite and pinch my toes. They are not just for cornes!! This is also a great price for these! The gel is very comfy and it moisturizes while you wear them too. A must have for shoes that bite!!

I use simular products all the time. All the local stores have starting caring a much cheaper version that only has gel on one side not all the way around. This product does us gel all around but it is very short so it doesn't cover my toe.

Elastikon Roll - 1" x 5 yards

Elastikon Roll - 1' x 5 yardsLOVE it! I use this for the dogs as they can't chew it off easily and it stays put. I do martial arts and have blister issues on my hands when I'm handling certain weapons, Elastikon over a bandaid on a sore blister does the trick! Also used it on an irritating part of a knife handle and it doesn't scrape my hands anymore! Just don't wind it too tight or it'll cut off your circulation...

Bed Buddy Hot Pack by EasyComforts

Carex Bed Buddy Hot/Cold PackI loved this product in its original form..a free flowing tube with two handles on either end. It heated up fast and stayed hot.My original wore out and i purchased a new one. When I opened the package i saw it was much different. (The one in this picture shows OLD one..)

The new one is sewn into 3 narrow chambers. The chambers don't hold heat. Why would they ruin a perfect product, I wondered.

Whoever bought the rights to Bed Buddy ruined the only thing that really helps arthritic necks..thanks alot for nothing new company, and by the way you will go out of business eventually when the buying public ends up returning this NOT original Bed Buddy

Maybe 5 or 6 years ago, I had purchased two of the Original Bed Buddies at Bed, Bath, and Beyond. They were a terrific product: Soft, durable, flexible, and made in the USA. I loved them. Now, they've been used extensively and are showing their age, and I wanted new clean ones so I ordered two of these. My original BB's were long enough to hang around your neck and drape on each side by several inches. They were extremely soft, and the filling inside could be shifted around so that the BB would mold where you needed it to mold. The new one's are about three to four inches shorter...they hang around your neck and stick out on each side because the product is so short and firm that it doesn't drape at all. They've added a seam down the middle that holds the filling tightly in place meaning the BB's aren't flexible or moldable at all. They're also made in China now, which I don't like. I ended up tearing both BB trying to take the stupid seam out (don't even bother trying to remove it as it leaves holes at both ends). This was, and could still be, a great product, but shortcuts by the company (to save money I'm assuming) have ruined another good product. I'm so saddened by this because I have recurring head and neck aches, and this product allowed me to apply heat exactly where I needed it. One last thing, the picture for this item looks like the original product I purchased several years ago. It is NOT a picture of the item they sent me.

What happened to the OLD bed buddy.

This product was manufactured in at least two different generations. In the first generation, the woven bag was stuffed with a lot more of the warmable material inside.

While the second generation prouct does produce heat and works reasoably well, it does not compare to the first go round.

I was disappointed, but did not return it. However, you might also want to consider the:

I've used the Bed Buddy for years and have liked it. When I recently replaced my old one, I was not satisfied with the changes. The Bed Buddy is shorter! And they have divided it into compartments to keep the filling from shifting. The result is a stiffer less flexible product. I much prefer the earlier longer models without the compartments. The shorter length is a disadvantage. However, the Bed Buddy still delivers muscle soothing heat.

My doctor instructed me to apply moist heat to my knee all day for several days and I purchased this item. I works fine, but needs to be reheated about every 20 minutes. Weighing in at 1 lb 11 oz it is also heavy, firmly packed, and definitely too long for use on a joint. The seam that runs the length of it also keeps it from being very flexible. The feel is similar to a "door snake" used to block out drafts. Bed Buddy makes a joint wrap, but I was unable to find one in any store and did not have time to order online.

Another reviewer mentioned making your own with rice and a sock. In this way you can get exactly the size and firmness you want. I used a ribbed thin cotton sock from Kohl's, long grain white rice, and a piece of cotton string. It took about a minute to make and is PERFECT. I heated it in my 1100 watt microwave for a minute (I used 8 oz rice so adjust for size).

Nasalcease FirstAid Nosebleeds

Nasalcease FirstAid Nosebleeds, 5-Count BoxNasalcease worked well for a persistant nosebleed and I would use it again.

That said, the vendor, DH Medical, shipped the item USPS First Class (NY to WI). Not only did it take 8 days to arrive from the date on the shippng label, but the item was shipped in a bubble padded envelope and crushed in shipment. Fortunately, the nasal packings were undamaged. There was no invoice or packing slip included in the package.

For these reasons, I would not recommend this vendor.

My son has many nosebleeds and these allow him to feel in control. It is worth the cost for lower anxiety, and free hands. No need to pinch the nose closed.

First I used it in Paris, France when I suddenly developed a nasal bleed in Louvre. It was pouring and wouldn't stop. I actually had to go to a local ER, where it finally stopped. The ER doctor recommended me to get Coalgan at the Pharmacy, which I did right away. Next morning I started to bleed again, and I stuck Coalgan in my nose... bleeding stopped... Coalgan slipped out easily... When I came back to the US I went to research where to buy Coalgan in the US and found out that Coalgan is sold here under NasalCEASE name. Same great thing!

My elderly mom has suffered from nosebleeds for years initially, because she was on baby Aspirin (81 mg); now, because she's on Warfarin (blood "thinner"), her nosebleeds have increased. We were told by a hematologist in 2009 to put Afrin/nasal spray on gauze and put it up her nose as an alternative nosebleed remedy. Afrin constricts the blood vessels in the nose. Well, that worked better than pinching or putting ice on her nose...but not by much. Many a time I've cut up and rolled Afrin-drenched gauze and inserted it into her nose, only to see the gauze soaked with blood two minutes later. If it were a particularly bad nosebleed, I would repeat this procedure for at least 30 minutes. "There's GOT to be something better," I thought. I researched.

Enter NasalCease. O.M.G. Wish there were TWENTY stars. :D This product is spectacular. Take one little pad out of its packet, twist it, stick it up the sufferer's nose, et voila! Buh-bye, nosebleed. Seriously. Stops it at the source IMMEDIATELY. No more blood-soaked gauze; no more repeating the process several times within an hour until the nosebleed stops, and no more buying tons of Afrin. I now keep several boxes of NasalCease on hand just in case. It's safe, too. No side effects.

I truly cannot recommend this enough. I understand it works for cuts, too. Trust me...keep at least one box of this incredible product in your medicine cabinet. And if you, or a loved one, suffer from frequent nosebleeds, buy TEN boxes. ;)

I have used this product several times this past winter and it stops my nosebleeds due to dry air almost immediately. My ENT recommend the product and I was surprised at how fast the product works. I was tired of holding my nose and stuffing my nose with tissues and/or cotten. I have never ordered online. I order the product from my local pharmacy and it usually arrives the next day.

Snakebite Kit

Snakebite Kit"Sucking out venom, either by mouth or with a pump, does not work and may harm the affected area directly." [..]) Also forget cutting and restricting as suggested in this kit (see snakebite at Wikipedia). As for bug / spider bites: "Do not cut or apply suction to the wound." [..]. Studies show the only positive results are placebo effects. Finally, WebMD states "Do not suck on the bite wound or use any kind of extraction device" as well as "Do not use a constriction band, such as a tourniquet or bandage, on a bite."

UPDATE: Below is from the Wall Street Journal Medical Department May 13, 2009:

"The suction devices are still under debate. One of the most popular devices, the Sawyer Extractor, sold by Sawyer Products Inc. of Safety Harbor, Fla., consists of a syringe-shaped chamber with a plunger that creates a vacuum. The company suggests leaving it on 10 to 15 minutes to extract the venom.

However, a study in pigs and one using radioactively labeled simulated venom injected into the thighs of eight human volunteers found the Sawyer Extractor ineffective. "It removes just a minute quantity of venom," says pig-study author Sean P. Bush, a professor of emergency medicine at California's Loma Linda University School of Medicine. Some doctors fear the deep suction could even worsen outcomes by killing skin at the wound site. The human study, published in 2004 by researchers at the University of California in Fresno, found that the device removed no more than 1% to 2% of mock venom from the leg.

Sawyer Products owner Kurt Avery says he believes the studies show only that the product doesn't work well in large muscle areas, such as thighs and calves. Based on the results, the company changed its label about two years ago to warn that the pump is "not as effective" at removing venom from large muscle areas. Mr. Avery maintains the product is effective when the bite is under the skin in hands, feet and other nonmuscled areas.

That argument doesn't sound plausible to Stanford University's Paul S. Auerbach. Dr. Auerbach, who had advocated use of the Sawyer pump in his 2003 book "Medicine for the Outdoors" and is listed on Sawyer's Web site as supporting the product, says the new edition of his book, expected out next month from Elsevier Inc., will recommend against its use based on newer research."

UPDATE: The UA Med Center Fall 2012 Mag says the UA Poison and Drug Center tells of the 8,000 venomous snakebites each year, fewer than 10 are fatal. "Much of what has been taught in the past is not useful today and can often even be harmful. Do not cut or use suction, a tourniquet, electricity, or ice. Just get the victim to the hospital as soon as possible." p56

I didn't purchase this for the intended useI purchased them to use on nipples and other body parts. They're also sold on sites that specialize in products for BDSM as well as sex toys. I purchased them from Amazon because they're cheaper than they were on the Adam and Eve website. The only complaint I might have is the inside rim has a hard edge that can be a bit uncomfortable, but if used with a good lubricant, it's not as pronounced.

I can't attest to how effective they are or aren't on snakebites, and I hope I never have to know, but I can tell you they work rather well on nipples and other body parts.

I bought this kit for my 22-year-old niece, who is expecting her first child in Jan 2013, as a "less-expensive" alternative for her to try and draw out flat/inverted nipples during her 3rd trimesterso she can breast feed. She started wearing breast shells, but didn't feel like it was doing anything, so after looking into a couple pricier products, we happened upon this (given one reviewer rating it for male-nipple enlargement). Since she already had the hard shells, I also purchased the Philips AVENT BPA Free Standard Nipple Protector, to give to her with this kit. So far, she says it seems like this product will work for the purpose she needed it for; although, apparently the inner-edges aren't very soft, or feel a little sharp around the areolas (so as not to discourage her, I haven't told her that the inner-edges of her snake-bite-cups will feel like heaven in comparison to the 1st week-or-so of nursing). Also, unbeknownst to us at the time of purchase, I guess the smaller cup that comes with this kit turned out to be great for pulling out just the nipple. My niece says after a few times of using the larger 2 cups around both the nipple and areola, she was able to use the smaller suction cup to draw out just each nipple even further. So between the suction cups & continuing to wear the breast shells (since these cups cannot be worn inside a bra or under clothes) she'll hopefully feel more confident, or maybe won't be as discouraged as she would have, once the baby has arrived and she starts nursing (which as many moms know, can be painful for both mom and baby). FYI, use lubricant to avoid cracking or cuts (she's using a lanolin breast feeding cream, but I'm sure anything emollient would work). As mentioned, these can't be worn under clothes or a bra (at least not for someone with larger breasts). Cups are easy to keep clean with warm water/soap (not sure if she's sterilized them yet or how they'd hold up). And lastly, obviously this kit was purchased for something totally different then its intended use-and so my niece could try [it] for $6.92 1st, before purchasing a more expensive product specifically designed for what she needed-so the onus is on her/us if she winds up being dissatisfied or something. Not sure about anything snake-bite related with this product either...

Though the simplicity of this makes you sometimes wonder why purchase it, careful consideration leads you to the conclusions: All parts in this tiny kit have a great many uses outside its designed use. For a survival kit, you can easily find yourself in dozens of situations where you need one or more of the parts in this kit, any of which could greatly contribute to your ability to survive.

Jungle First Aid Kit

Jungle First Aid KitPurchased from a surplus store for about the same price as Amazon.

Material is canvas, snaps seem strong, overall a nice heavy duty feel. It has a belt loop sewn on the back. You can easily fit some tweezers and scissors in it. The kit comes loaded with supplies, too.

I wanted a first aid bag to go in my backpack that wasn't too large or too small. This bag should do, although I will be customizing the supplies to my own needs. Only reason I did not give 5 stars is because the supplies expire in 11 months from the date I purchased it.

Received quickly and everything was as expected. Nice variety of useful contents. Would highly recommend Nothing much else to say.

Creme of Nature Nourishing No-Lye Relaxer: Regular

Creme of Nature Nourishing No-Lye Relaxer: RegularMy hair became dry after the relaxer. It started shedding more than usual and my hair didn't even get straight.... Terrible.

I used this product for the 1st time a few months ago and my hair broke off like NEVER before it was HORRIBLE! I've always used the Olive Oil one which had been great but this one was on sale and since I like the C of N Argon conditioner I thought I'd try the perm too. BAD MISTAKE! I lost SOOOOO much hair it was ridiculous!

This "New" formula is terrible. It did not straighten my hair. It left a lot of wave after relaxing and I left it in for 20 minutes. I have fine hair and it doesn't take much to relax it. Also, it left my hair very hard, dry and dull after relaxing which could lead to hair breakage. The old formula "Herba Rich" is the best to use, not this.

Thumbs down! Don't buy.

Spenco 2nd Skin Moist Burn Pads 2x3- 4 count pkg.We had these in our first Aid kit on a group campout and a friend of mine got splattered with hot oil. She used one of the 2nd Skin burn pads and it did not even blister! I have used them for a curling iron burn and for a burn I got taking cookies out of the oven. They are so soothing and very effective!

We have used these several times (we have a large family and I am very accident prone). They work miracles. I was overtired and set a hot pan full of boiling water down on my palm. We covered it in these bandages and I do not have a scar! They soothe and protect it the burn. We have tried others, but no more we only use these. They are incredible!!

My 10 year old was helping to cook and burned her arm on a skillet. It was very painful, but not too scary until she scraped the blister off while we were at the Lake...yuck. The wound was scary after that & I desperately went to the pharmacy store trying to find something to treat it. I found an antiseptic foaming cleanser and 1 little box of these gel burn pads. I bought several tapes to hold the thing in place and this thin stretchy cut-to-size mesh to lightly hold everything in place. The second I put the gel pad on she said it quit hurting. I went from store to store trying to find them and every single store only had 1 box. I finally came to Amazon & found them for slightly better prices & free 2 day shipping with my Prime membership! I was very relieved after a couple of days it started looking much better & her burn healed in just under 2 weeks---The very best part is she was pain free the entire time. That is the priceless part!

Medifirst Pain Relief Tablets 125x2

Medifirst Pain Relief Tablets 125x2I have used this for over a decade...My husband used to work for Pepsi and they kept these in their first aid kits...he gave me a pk when I was visiting him for lunch once and my migraine was gone in less than 30 min. I would very very Highly recommend this Medi-First Pain Relief to everyone...plz plz check with your doctor before taking though. Just to make sure it is safe for you to take since it contains aspirin among other ingredients

A correction to the earlier review stating these pain relief tablets "has the same ingredients as the old formula BC Powder". The old BC Powder formula did not contain acetaminophen (active ingredient in Tylenol) but Medi-First Pain Relief does. For reference, one (1) original formula BC contained 650mg aspirin, 33.3mg caffeine and 195mg salicylamide. As packaged, two (2) tablets of Medi-First Pain Relief contain 220mg acetaminophen, 324mg aspirin, 64.8mg caffeine, and 304mg salicylamide. Not a bad approximation of the old BC, but packs an extra wallop of caffeine and salicylamide. The salicylamide, by the way, is what the manufacturer of BC removed from the new formula and is the "magic" ingredient that delivered the knockout punch to those stubborn headaches and whatnot.

These Medi-First Pain Relief tablets do work wonderfully, though. It would be nice if they were a straight aspirin vs. aspirin + acetaminophen formula, but alas, you can''t have it all. 5 stars for being close enough and delivering that knockout blow the new BC Powders just can't manage anymore.

Buy Medifirst Pain Relief Tablets 125x2 Now

If you're looking for a replacement for the old formula BC Powder, try Pain Relief.

I started using Pain Relief because is has the same ingredients as the old formula BC Powder. I prefer the powder, but this does just as well as the old BC. The new formula BC is nothing more than aspirin and caffeine and doesn't work anywhere close to the old formula.

Neosporin + Pain Relief , Maximum Strength, 1 Ounce

Neosporin + Pain Relief , Maximum Strength, 1 OunceI've been using this product in both the cream and ointment formulations since my kids were small. Unlike some other anti-bacterial products, this does not sting and is not messy. It also offers a pain reliever which eliminates residual pain from a wound or infection. It offers 24 hour protection between applications.

I have used this on fresh wounds, blisters, and minor irritations and it consistently works. However it is never more impressive when used on an infected area that is red and painful. It zaps an infection quickly and any accompanying infection or oozing disappears rapidly.

I've assembled a few emergency first aid kits for the house and car, and I always toss a tube of Neosporin + Pain Relief in.

One note: I have tried a non-brand generic of this and find that it doesn't seem to work as well. This is one of those rare occasions when I don't buy the generic equivalent.

Very happy with my order have purchased the regular without the pain medicine so very happy I'm not having to run around looking for this product easy to find and order came as advertised and right along the estimated time frame will be making future orders
