Dr. Harvey's Organic First Aid Healing Cream for Dogs, 1.5-Ounce Jar

Dr. Harvey's Organic First Aid Healing Cream for Dogs, 1.5-Ounce JarI originally bought this cream for the cat who had hot spots that were red and not healing because she would lick/bite them. After 3 days of using the cream on her, her hot spots have healed.

I read online about people also using the all natural cream on themselves. So I tried it on myself when I got an insect bite. The itch stopped and the bite disappeared. We then tried it on my daughter's eczema on her hands. Instead of using her steroid cream, we did Dr. Harvey's for 3 days. And by the 3rd day, her hands were completely smooth and all signs of eczema were gone.

If you plan to use it for humans and pets, just scoop some out and put it in a separate container. Then you have one for the humans and one for the pets.

my dog has been having allergies, itchies, rashes and various skin problems. she has pink skin (white fur) and she is very sensitive. It is very easy to slather this healing cream on her and it works asap. wish there was more of it in a jar but otherwise, it is really great. could not ask for a better cream. It gets the job done and then some !!!!

The Banalg "Hospital strength" worked better than this and was only $12-$13 bottle.I am told it is no longer available. I bought this as I was suffering bad and needed relief, and it did work, although not as well as the other product. I will not purchase again as the ingredients can be found in much cheaper varieties of muscle pain relief creams.

Clearblue Fertility Monitor 1 Count

Clearblue Fertility Monitor 1 CountI bought this monitor after 8 months of trying to concieve. I have very irregular periods so the thought of a machine telling me when I was ovulating sounded great.

About the machine: You have to program it to start during your period. So, if you buy it in between your cycles, you need to wait until your next period to begin using the monitor, however you can program it up to day 5 on your period, meaning if you buy this and you are anywhere from day 1-5 in your menses, you can program it for whatever day between those five days you are on. If you purchase the monitor and you are on day 3 of your period, the monitor will allow you to program day 3 and start from there. For me I had a bit of trouble figuring out the programming but to be honest Im not that mechanically inclined, but I did eventually get it.

You start testing when the maching tells you to, so you won't be testing everyday. This helps because it saves $$ on the sticks. You pee on the stick in the morning (first morning urine for best results, as opposed to afternoon urine with OPK'S) at the same time every morning. There is a 3 hour window that is allowed. So if you set your clock for 7am, but you really have to pee at 5:30, you pee at that time so the urine is concentrated. The 3 hour window can go either waybefore 7am or after, just as long as its the first urine. The machine will give you either a low, high or peak (with a little egg next to the peak days) reading. The instructions advise you to baby dance on high and peak days.

Now for the cons. Its pricey! The machine itself is expensive, much, much more then OPK's and the sticks are pricey as well. When you buy the machine it will come with a certain amount of sticks, but then you need to buy refills which can get costly.

Did it work?? For us it worked. I was able to get pregnant the second cycle using this monitor. It showed that I was ovualting on day 10, where I figured I was around days 12-16, so we were way off. With the new found knowledge of when I was actually ovualting we got pregnant with our little boy.

I am not advising that you purchase or not purchase this monitor. I simply need to tell you of my experience if you do use it. I was very excited to find a tool that would take the human error out of reading the ovulation test sticks to determine the LH surge, therefore predicting the peak days of fertility.

I used this monitor every month for over a year with one successful pregnancy (ending in miscarriage). The very thing I liked about this tool is possibly what prevented my getting pregnant sooner. I relied too much on the accuracy of the monitor! The machine reads the stick and displays the "fertile day" sign. If there are any errors in this reading, you won't know because you can't read them yourself. You must rely totally on the accuracy of the machine. Whereas, with the simpler ovulation predictor sticks, you can read them yourself; see the line to determine if it is darker or lighter than the test line and can compare it with sticks from one day to the next.

After trying to conceive for so long, I found myself only focusing on the "prime fertile days." I didn't have the energy to "try" if the monitor didn't say I had to. I think by narrowing my target to the 2 or 3 perfect days that this machine predicted, caused me to actually miss my fertile days. I think the machine was wrong. I came to this conclusion one month when I decided to check behind the monitor by using it simultaniously with the ovulation predictor sticks. The monitor read my LH surge as day 12 and I read the sticks as surging on day 18. If I had not checked behind the machine, so to speak, I would have missed my actual peak time. By NOT paying attention to the monitor readings, I persevered and kept at it until day 18 and this was the month I got pregnant.

I'd recommend that if you do buy this monitor, use it as a guideline and not as the gospel. Use it to indicate your fertile days but don't stop there. Don't just "try" on the fertile days. The one pregnancy I did have was due to "trying" even after the machine said it wasn't productive.

One final note, the sticks for this machine are bought in boxes of 30 and are very expensive. You MUST use 10 per month dictated by the machine. Purchasing the box of 5 or 7 ovulation predictor sticks is actually less expensive and you need only use the number of sticks until you see the "peak." These kits are complete as is (just add urine!) and do not require the purchase of an expensive machine.

Good luck!

My husband and I tried for several months off the birth control patch with no success. I am 35 and had always assumed I ovulated around days 14-16. I bought the monitor on the recommendation of friends (among our set, it's resulted in several pregnancies!). I wasn't able to use it immediately at the time I bought it, because I was too far along in my cycle. The first time I did use it -bingo! We're pregnant. It turns out that I was ovulating on days 11-12.

The machine is simple and easy to use. I know that it's expensive and that the cost may be off-putting, but it is certainly cheaper than consultations with fertility specialists. I also have a very demanding job and was not consistent with keeping up with my charting, etc.

This is such a sensitive issue for so many people. I think we need all of the help we can get. Good luck!

I had been trying to conceive for about 4 months before deciding to use this monitor to help me understand my cycle and to shorten the time to conception by helping me identify my high and peak fertility days. I used this for six cycles without success and then chose to consult with my ob/gyn. She put me on the generic version of clomid, and for the first two months (cycles 7 and 8 using the monitor) it appeared to work by identifying peak times for conception. However, the third month on the medication (cycle 9 using the monitor), I had only high fertility readings, but no peak. Yet this was the month that I conceived. My research online seemed to suggest that this system isn't always compatible with Clomid.

In the meantime I had also purchased "Taking charge of your fertility" and used the information about the physical signs of fertility in conjunction with the information I had previously learned from the monitor to understand my own signs better. All this information together allowed my to successfully identify my peak days during the one cycle when the monitor didn't register. Although it is tedious to test 10 times during each cycle and the cost of this unit was a little on the high side, I am so thankful that it helped me conceive that I don't mind the downsides.

UPDATE: This monitor helped us conceive twice. I got pregnant after only three cycles the second time.

I am a dental hygienist who is 42. I spent 6 months TRYING to get pregnant. One of the girls at work finally said she got pregnant all three times with this machine. Then thinking that my age was the problem, I used this machine just one month and I was pregnant. I would use this before expensive fertility treatment. The information that the machine gives you will be useful for your OB/GYN! I tell all of my patients to use this if they are trying and want immediate results.

Pickle Bandages (Quantity=2 Tins)

Pickle BandagesThese were cute novelty bandages I got for an inside joke between my cousin and me but the description pages lists these as being Latex-Free, which I was thrilled with because she is allergic to Latex. I was disappointed to see on the package when it came that they do in fact contain latex and they would only be something to look at, she would be unable to use them. The cute little gift inside was a riot. If you don't have a latex allergy, these would be great.

One A Day Women's Prenatal Vitamins

One A Day Women's Prenatal VitaminsI have been taking these for over a year now, and honestly they work the best for me. I am not pregnant, but my husband and I are planning on starting a family in the near future. I have tried several prenatal vitamins and for some reason they ALL made me sick to my stomach, even if I ate a large dinner right before I took them. I even had this problem with regular multivitamins and the regular One A Day Women make me sick too! With these, I haven't had any problems. I just take them at night right before I go to bed. There is no funny taste, they're easy for me to swallow, and best of all they don't make me sick!

I also did a lot of research on vitamins and found these vitamins to be very close to containing the recommended amounts of vitamins and minerals. Even if they are a little under or just right, the everyday foods you should be eating for a healthy balanced diet also contain these vitamins and minerals as well...so I wouldn't worry too much about that. A good resources to find which foods contain the vitamins and minerals needed for pregnancy is "What to Expect Before You're Expecting". I found it very informative and an easy read. Some pre-pregnancy books are way over the top for me. After all, women have been having babies well before us. :)

I'm pregnant with my second child and was prescribed prescription prenatal vitamins with my first pregnancy five years ago. I bought these because my prescription vitamins came in two pill forms, just as these do...one multi-vitamin and the other DHA in a liquid capsule. I guess the DHA pill is kind of large, but I've never had a problem taking pills and I just take it with plenty of water. I take my vitamins every night before bed and I don't know why people insist on taking them in the morning if they are more likely to make you sick! EASY FIX...TAKE THEM AT NIGHT! I've never had a problem with them and wake up feeling fine in the morning.

The One A Day Prenatal with DHA "Now 50% Smaller Liquid Gel" vitamins do not advertise that the DHA supplement also has a fraction of the nutrition in the full size One A Day DHA gel tablet.

DHA 240 mg

The recommended EPA for a pregnant woman is 200mg a day. The new pill has 23mg! And this is One A Day. When I purchased this product from my local pharmacy, it was mixed within the original size gel packages; they were being sold as the same item and had the same SKU on my reciept. THEY ARE NOT THE SAME! You will not be recieving sufficient nutrients with the 50% smaller gel tablets. Do not buy them!

This prenatal has the recommended amount of supplements according to WebMD, (with the slight exception of some Vitamin C and Thiamin but there are near perfect levels).

Vitamins make some women sick. Pregnancy makes some women sick. Each woman is different so I would venture to say that if you take vitamins on an empty stomach (in the morning), yeah, you aren't going to feel good. Some might feel fine its all relative. Its recommended that you take this vitamin with food (like most vitamins), and that is definitely advice to live by.

Other complications can come into play in pregnancy, so when I see reviews with comments like ("I feel hot and dizzy, I am bleeding, I have a headache I took my vitamin 30 minutes ago so that MUST be the reason!") I have to wonder about fear and irrational thinking coming into play. Maybe its the vitamin, but most likely its your pregnancy. There can be some scary complications in pregnancy and women don't have much control over them, so its understandable that they want to find something to blame. Not to say that certain supplements don't interfere with some women's make-up... but in general, these vitamins probably work for 95% of its users. Maybe 99%, I dunno I don't do statistics.

The complaints about the fish oil in the DHA supplement: I usually have these during lunch, and I just don't notice any kind of odd breath, burping, or odor. Maybe I am just gross and don't notice? :) Hah.

I also commend this brand on its relative price value compared to other brands that contain less of the main essentials that are of paramount importance (folic acid, iron, calcium).

I have tried several different prenatals. They either made me sick or constipated. These have magnesium which helps with the constipation. I don't take the DHA .. just the prenatal.

Johnson & Johnson Red Cross Rolled Gauze, 4 Inch x 2.1 Yards, 5 Count

Johnson & Johnson Red Cross Rolled Gauze, 4 Inch x 2.1 Yards, 5 CountI had not had much experience with bandaging until our aging dog had surgery which resulted in a wound that would not heal on her elbow. We went through about 14 months of bandaging trial and error and became "experts". We found that this Kling wrap was an important part of our doctoring kit. Front elbows on dogs are especially difficult because dogs rest on them and they flex a lot: the worst possible place for a wound. Normal bandaging will fall down and you need something stretchy that you can wrap snugly, but not tight. We alternated each wrap while still covering the wound on each pass, we would wrap mostly above the elbow on one pass, mostly below on the next and did about 8-10 passes in this figure 8 mode. (There is also a product called DogLeggs which went over the back and covered both elbows, utilizing velcro and stretchy neoprene, it provided a good dirt barrier and extra padding. We put this one over the bandaging which featured a pain relieving triple antibiotic, a non-stick gauze pad, this Kling wrap and tape.)

This is the product formerly known as "Kling". It's a soft, cushion-y gauze (not scratchy, thin, and cheesecloth-like as other rolled gauzes) that provides excellent support and extra padding to any type of dressing.

I have had my foot reconstructed several times (born with Spina Bifida and limited nerve function in my foot) and I actually use this as a precautionary measure against any sort of blisters or pressure pointsI wrap my foot in it after I shower, and then put my sock on over it. It provides extra padding and prevents anything from irritating my skin. It's a great way to get a little extra protection for any delicate areas of the skin and it does not slip or bunch.

It's the best rolled gauze product on the market. However, unlike the earlier versions of Kling versions, it is *not* tearable.

Adventure Medical Kits Tactical Field/Trauma kit with QuikClot

Adventure Medical Kits Tactical Field/Trauma with QuikClotI have recommended Quikclot before. Here's what I said:

"This product stops bleeding cold. Right Now. Noteit is expensive and a little messy, so don't go using it for everyday cuts, those where the bleeding is easily controlled by pressure. But this could very well save a life, especially out in the field.

Get one of the large packs and keep it at home in your 1st Aid kit, and one of the smaller packs to carry in your beltpouch or daypack, along with a few Band-Aids and the usual stuff.

Most first aid kits do not contain this product as it is too expensive, so you'll have to add it yourself. What is handy with this product is that you can apply it to yourself in a pinch."

So, you'd think I'd rate a kit with Quikclot with *****. However, I can't quite. See, other than the Quikclot, this is just an ordinary handy little 1st aid kit.

From Adventure Medicals site, here's what's in this:

"Bandage Materials

4 Bandage, Adhesive, Fabric, 1" x 3"

3 Bandage, Adhesive, Fabric, Knuckle

2 Bandage, Butterfly Closure

1 Bandage, Elastic, Self Adhering, 2"

2 Dressing, Gauze, Sterile, 2" x 2", Pkg./2

2 Dressing, Gauze, Sterile, 4" x 4", Pkg./2

1 Dressing, Non-Adherent, Sterile, 3" x 4"

Bleeding

2 Gloves, Nitrile (Pair), Hand Wipe

1 QuikClot Sport 25g

2 Trauma Pad, 5" x 9"

Blister / Burn

11 Moleskin, Pre-Cut & Shaped

Instrument

3 Safety Pins

1 Splinter Picker/Tick Remover Forceps

Medical Information

1 Comp. Guide to Wilderness & Travel Medicine

Medication

1 After Bite Wipe

2 Antihistamine (Diphenhydramine 25 mg)

1 Aspirin (325 mg), Pkg./2

2 Ibuprofen (200 mg), Pkg./2

Wound Care

6 After Cuts & Scrapes Anethestic/Antiseptic Wipe

1 Dressing, Petrolatum, 3" x 3"

1 Tape, 1/2" x 10 Yards

2 Triple Antibiotic Ointment, Single Use"

A decent list, but other than the Quikclot, hardly unique.

So, it would be quite a bit cheaper to just take your already existing 1st Aid kit and just throw in the Quikclot, which runs $10-$15.

But, this is still a good kit, and fairly complete even though quite compact. If you don't already have a small kit, this is not a bad choice.

Perfect small emergency kit. I certainly won't rehash the comprehensive listing by the previous reviewer. The nice thing about these kits is there is room to add a few more items. I would add additional pain reliever (ibuprofen, etc.), anti-diarrhea meds and maybe more allergy meds as well as some superglue (yea it stings but closes lacerations nicely).

Buy Adventure Medical Kits Tactical Field/Trauma kit with QuikClot Now

This is a decent first aid kit. It is well stocked and comes with a fairly durable pouch.

The reason I am not giving it more stars is that the included QuickClot pad is tiny. The packaging states that it is 3.5 x 3.5 inches, but I took out a ruler and measured carefully-it's only 2.5 x 3 inches.

I purchased this kit to carry with me when sawing brush and bucking logs for firewood on a rural ranch. Despite the "Field Trauma" label, I do not think the included QuickClot pad is adequate for real field work where injuries are possible and medical help is far away.

I keep one of these kits in my range bag when I compete in action pistol matches. Just in case, it is best to have the gear handy to deal with an emergency. Good price for a handy kit.

Want Adventure Medical Kits Tactical Field/Trauma kit with QuikClot Discount?

Let me start off by qualifying myself: I am not a doctor, nurse or first responder and I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night. I'm just an average guy who spends a lot of time camping, hiking and driving off-road in places where a professional medical response may be hours to more than a day away. So I've invested a lot of research, training and money in brushing-up my first aid skills and building various first aid kits. Enough of that.

This kit itself is really nothing special. You could go to your local Wally World and buy a first aid kit for $10 and then add a Quik Clot or Celox Gauze for $12-15 and be ahead in the end. Aside from that, what you're paying for here is the Quik-Clot, pouch and the book. This is also essentially a one-time-use kit, as there aren't enough of the less critical items to handle multiple people or incidents. Not a terrible deal, but not necessarily the best you can do for the money or your safety.

The bag itself is not waterproof and is too small to add things such as a EMT shears, compression dressing, extra gauze dressings and a CPR face shield, which would be useful for the intended purposes. If you do get this kit you are well advised to put the contents into a resealable food storage bag to keep things dry (and which also could be used to flush-out wounds by filling with purified water and clipping-off one corner to make a squeeze bag). The book may actually be very helpful if you don't have first aid training, but its knowledge that is needed before a crisis occurs and is best taught by qualified instructors or first responders.

If you just need one small kit to throw in a backpack or glove compartment, and don't want to go through the trouble of building your own or upgrading something else, then this is a good start. Otherwise you can always add a Quik-Clot or Celox to a more complete kit at minimal cost.

I use two scoops per 10ozs of water about 30 min before exercise. Use cell mass immediately after workout for best results. Crazy pumps, makes you shake. You'll lift more than ever. Don't abuse this product.

This juice's flavor sucks, actually they all do. the only one that is somewhat palatable is the bluerasberry. But lets face it if we where here for taste alone we would be drinking kool aide. This stuff gets me amped for a good work out. Only draw back is that it gives you cotton mouth. I love this stuff.

So for starters, the item is good and definitely a good choice for pre-workout. There are better supplements but you have to increase your budget quite a bit. Good for the price!

I wanted to warn any potential buyerss to AVOID seller DIRECT SUPER CENTER (DAB NUTRITION).

I recently purchased from them since they offered a good price. However, 10 days later when I had to contact them about the status of my order, they informed me that they did not actually have the product because it was on backorder with the manufacturer. So if it wasn't bad enough that they sold me a product that they did not own, nor were able to deliver, I called BSN to see if ANY flavor of NO-Xplode had been on backorder this month. They told me that no flavors had been on backorder no several months.

WORST SELLER EVER.... The only reason they have a good rating is because they do not bill right away and cancel orders before sellers can leave feedback (happened to me)!

Tresemme Keratin Smooth Infusing Serum, 3.3 Ounce

Tresemme Keratin Smooth Infusing Serum, 3.3 OunceCustomer review from the Amazon Vine Program I have badly-behaving hair. It's gray, dry, wavy and frizzy (Sounds beautiful, right?) and I've been searching for several years for just the right product to tame it. Within the past year I've discovered that products with keratin are the best for my purposes so I jumped at the chance to try this Tresemme keratin serum. I've now used it a few times and am pretty happy with it, but I have to say that the weather lately where I live (South Florida) has been drier and cooler than usual so the frizzing problem is lower than usual for me.

This does smooth and help with styling and does give a little shine to the hair also. So for me it is doing what it's supposed to. This is the 5th keratin leave-in product I have tried and it's up there close to my favorites in desired results. To give you an idea, I've tried It's a 10 miracle leave -in Plus Keratin 10oz which I wasn't happy with because, although it smoothed the hair, it left it a bit dry and with very little shine. Then there was Keratin Complex Shine 1.7 oz. That one felt a bit sticky and heavy and left the hair looking somewhat greasy, in spite of using only a very small amount of product.

The two products I've been using with success before trying this Tresemme keratin were Keratin Coppola Complex Infusion Keratin Replenisher 1.7 oz and Global Keratin Serum 1.69oz. Both of these are excellent and leave the hair silky, shiny and smooth. This Tresemme comes in a close second to those two. It does not leave the hair as silky and shiny but it's pretty good, especially considering its much lower price.

I will probably be buying this Tresemme product again when my sample runs out, especially if I learn that it works well even when the weather turns more humid and hotter.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I was disappointed by this product as I use Tresemme for most of my other hair product needs. My hair is a little on the dry side but fairly healthy. I color it but not lighter. I need a "smoothing" serum for my hair because it is just wavy enough to be frizzy when I flat iron/blow dry it. This product was "too wet." When I put it in my hair (even a small amount) it was like spraying it with water and it curled back up. I am also not a fan of how it smells. I tried it a few different ways and still wound up putting a different keratin product in it to smooth it. When I tried it in my wet hair it did give a little more volume to the bottom of my hair but still didn't really seem to have a smoothing affect. I would try something different if you are looking for a sleek hairstyle.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program This hair serum is not bad, but I prefer the crystal clear, silicone based serums like Biosilk Silk Therapy Serum. While this serum does contain some `cones' it also contains enough other ingredients to make it a bit inferior to my regular hair serum. And, what I really don't like, is that the first ingredient is water. I don't know why they felt the need to dilute it with water. Overall, though, this serum does help reduce frizziness a little bit, but it is not as `slick' and slippery as my silicone serums. The fragrance is nice and very subtle.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program My hair has always been a pain, and only seems to be getting more unruly each passing year. I've got curly hair that gets incredibly frizzy. I don't blow dry or straighten my hair because it only ends up being an even more frizzy mess when it becomes heat damaged. I also have oily skin and hair, which results in me having to wash my hair daily, or else my hair ends up looking completely gross. This causes a bit of a dilemma, since my hair becomes a dried out frizzy mess whilst I try to keep the crown of my head from looking too greasy.

I recently saw a commercial for this line of products and was eager to try it. I have to sayI love it! It works on both wet and dry hair. I climb out of the shower in the morning, brush my hair, and run this serum through the strands of my hair. If I shower in the evening, I simply wait until morning and again comb some of the serum through my (now dry) hair. I generally avoid wearing my hair down because it becomes such a frizzy mess by midday, but since I started using this, I've actually been willing to wear my hair down a bit! I've even taken to straightening my hair, since my fly-aways are well controlled by the serum! I make sure to avoid getting it too close to the roots of my hair though, as this is obviously an oily product. Last thing I want is to aid my oil problems!

One other thing I will comment on is the scentit's a light clean scent that I love! The scent also seems to last, since I have found myself on more than one occasion turning my head and catching a whiff of my hair product. I love those moments when I find myself saying, "Wow! My hair smells really good!".

I live in an area that becomes very humid in the Spring/Summer, so I'll be curious to see how well this works when the weather gets gross. My hair is incredibly unruly in humidity. Thus far, however, I've tried other keratin products in the past with very little results, so I'm thrilled by how well this product has worked!

I have fine wavy/curly weather reactive hair that has been color treated for years. Its been hard to find a hair serum or lotion that will allow my curly hair to remain frizz free while keeping my curls shiny and bouncy and in tact. This serum is light, not greasy and goes on your hair and spreads easily. My hair dried faster and my curls were soft, bouncy and shiny. It lasted throughout the day and my hair even looked good the following day. I then wore my hair straight thru blowdrying after applying the serum. My hair was straight and smooth and super shiny. Id definately recommend this product for straight or curly hair.

Elgin Archxerciser Foot Strengthening Device : Great for Plantar Fasciitis and Heel Spur Syndrome

Elgin Archxerciser Foot Strengthening Device : Great for Plantar Fasciitis and Heel Spur SyndromeI ordered this strengthening device for my father. He suffers from planter fasciitis. He was amazed at the difference it made. He says he can now get up in the morning and walk without pain in his arch. He would recommend this product to anyone with the same problem.

The same exercise could be achieved by scrunching a towel with your toes, but I like the gadget. It is well designed and sturdy. I feel I get a stronger pull when I place the big toe of the other foot under the heel of the exercising foot. The lift seems to make it more efficient.

No one thing will cure plantar fasciitis--I use it along with orthotics, daily stretches and a night splint. This is not a quick fix, but I have seen a slight improvement in the relief of my PF. Best of luck to you.

Like others have said, this machine is basically a big toe only version of towel crunches (an exercise in which you put your foot on a towel and curl your toes repeatedly, which pleats the towel). The advantage over towel crunches is a little more range of motion is allowed in the toe flexion direction. Unfortunately, most people have adequate big toe flexion, it is big toe extension that is lacking and necessary for walking and other activities.

The primary muscles this machine exercises are your extrinsic big toe flexor muscles (the ones in the calf), which actually do not contribute that much to arch support and would have little impact on plantar fasciitis. Exercising your extrinsic big toe flexor muscles will do little for heel spurs (bony protrusions in the heel) as well.

The muscles of the arch that you primarily want to focus on are the intrinsic muscles (the ones in the foot itself). These include the lumbricals and the interossei.

In order to strengthen these muscles, it is helpful to know a little anatomy. The arch of the foot can be thought of as having three points: one at the heel, one at the base of the big toe and one at the base of the little toe. When these three points spread out, your arch collapses. When they are brought together, your arch rises.

A better exercise for strengthening the arch is to stand so that those three points of your foot are in solid contact with the ground and then try to bring the points closer together and hold it for about 15-20 seconds, then relax. Repeat until your arches feel fatigued. Visualizing can help a lot here.

Don't strain too hard in raising your arch. If you strain to hard, you will begin to recruit the extrinsic muscles of your foot in addition to the intrinsic muscles. A good way to tell if the level of effort you are giving appropriate is if the near segment of your big toe is pressed flat to the ground but the far segment has not started to curl under or make the knuckle of the big toe rise. (The far segment of your big toe is controlled by extrinsic muscles while the near segment is controlled by intrinsic muscles.)

I hope that was understandable and that it helps some of you.

I bought an Archexerciser a few months ago when I developed a case of plantar fasciitis. I used it daily for several weeks, diligently following the included instructions, but found it to be no help whatsoever in treating my PF symptoms. The exercises may seem like a good idea in theory, but in practice they are nearly irrelevant to treating plantar fasciitis.

The flaws with the device are twofold: 1.) the spring is extremely weak and provides only minimal resistance, so doing 10-20 (or even 100) contractions with the toes feels like no exercise at all. 2.) Even if the resistance were high enough, the movement only activates the toe flexors (which are actually located under the large muscles of the calves) and not the small stabilizing muscles in the arch of the foot itself. These muscles are better strengthened by doing 'foot doming' exercises:

If you want do exercise your toe flexors for other reasons, a much cheaper solution is simply scrunching a towel on the floor. You can add some weight on top of the towel to increase the resistance if necessary.

I like running and I have completed a few marathons in the past few years. Recently I have had pain in the ball of my feet. I got this device and a few other items and I do believe the pain is vanished after about 2 months of use (for now anyway).

Alright. Smaller than what I thought they were going to be. I thought "5-1/2"" meant the blade length. Oh well. They're great for my first aid kit, anyway.
