I am one of those fortunate 1% known as "hyper sensitive". I do not even need to come in contact with the plant to get an urushiol reaction. If a deer brushes past the plant and then sheds fur on the trail, I get it. Dust that gets through my clothes exposes me to it. Allergists across the west coast marvel at my sensitivity. Whoopee. And EVERY TIME I am exposed, I go on meds, or else ruin sheets with three week long oozing. I stockpile Prednisone. I have, therefore, created a system to cleanse myself of the resin as I hike or ride, and it usually works pretty well. I was recently doing some recon on some older trails, and I went through tons of oak, but I did not get any reaction. So I give this product a 4 star rating, as it seems like it did the job, but then, if it works, nothing happens, right? So nothing happened. I assume that it was because of the block, but I don't know for sure. Unlike Technu, it does not smell really wierd, and I think it even has SPF. I have added it to my voodoo ceremony against urushiol, and am optimistic... although I will not even consider ending my proven regimen of cleansing. Still be careful, but this does seem to provide a certain amount of protection. For those of you like me, remember to trust nothing, fully.
My husband and son are highly allergic to poision ivy and so I purchased this for them. We recently went on a hiking vacation in TN and poision ivy was everwhere! They both used the block and for the first time, got to enjoy the outdoors without getting the outbreak from the poision ivy. I would HIGHLY recommend this product. I am planning on buying them more for stocking stuffers for Christmas!

Let's just say, I used this product and my husband didn't. We both pulled poison ivy all morning. I did not get any rash, he did in about four different places, the most annoying was his eyelid....use the product.

I am somewhat sensitive to PI and poison oak -if I brush up against it I will get a rash, but I don't think I've gotten a rash from indirect contact with it. I am also an avid trail runner.
Last year I borrowed some Ivy Block from a friend before setting out on a trail run, and covered myself with the stuff. I had a pretty horrid accident where I tripped on a tree root, fell off a small cliff, and went rolling down a poison ivy-covered embankment. I was pretty messed up: twisted my knee, got some lovely bruises, and got a horrendous gouge taken out of my forearm. But I did not have a single speck of PI rash.
I now go through this stuff like I go through sunblock. Haven't gotten PI since.

I'm extremely allergic, and was excited about this product. I followed the directions on the lable, and applied it 15 min bf I went outside. I put it on with the intent of getting rid of the poison ivy in my yard. Once I started working I noticed that where I applied the lotion on my arms, it started to get warm and burn a little, after about 30 min. of working, the sensation was worrisome. I washed it off and the next day had a light poison ivy rash. It wasn't nearly as bad as it has been in the past, so it does work some, but not completely when in direct contact, and for me, not without some side effect.
