Soothe-A-Sting Swabs (Box of 10)

While at the waterpark recently, my 9 yr old ended up with a wasp sting. The two lifeguards who helped us both had these swabs in their first aid pouches. After removing the stinger, one of the guards broke one of these open, and started swabbing the sting vigorously. The medicine soothed my daughter's pain quickly, to where I could tell she was crying more from the fright than the pain itself. We were also able to keep using it for a while after the lifeguards left us, because there was enough medicine left to continue treating the area. Not only did it soothe the sting, she had far less swelling than she's experienced with bug stings before.

I was impressed with this product so much that I came home and ordered some right away to have on hand for myself. It spoke volumes to me that the lifeguards use them. This was not our first sting, but I've never had other home treatments work so well before. I will always keep these swabs on hand now.

I used this on my toddler when he decided to pick up a honeybee with his fingers ;) After I scraped the stinger out of his thumb with a credit card I washed his hands and then cracked open one of these. It really helped with the pain, so much so that he kept right on playing!

Not what I ordered but it worked. Instead of getting swaps we got wipes. They work but not as good as the swabs. They sent a note that they didn't have the swabs and only had the wipes. I wish they would of just contacted me in the first place and told me that they didn't have any swabs and only had the wipes before charging me.

Nice first aid set, OK quality materials, waterproof is perfect!... However there's people that buy the kit hopping to protect a cellphone from elements, it won't fit in there... At least not one with a blackberry 9530-9900 sizes, not even if you empty the kit's case...

Received this gift for Christmas and intend to put it on my small sailboat. Kit has some room for additional items like ointment packets, a pair of tweezers, small pocket knife and appears to be fairly rugged. There is a rubber "o-ring" seal between the lid and body of the plastic case. The mini carabiner and lanyard will be useful in attaching to the boat. Plastic clasp keeping the kit closed feels a little weak, but seems to be solid when shut.

I bought this kit to carry in my car for small emergencies. The case seems durable enough as is the clasp and its contents will do for a small mishap. Plenty of adhesive bandages, alcohol wipes, gauze pads and even a small roll of tape. There's a little room for a couple more items if you want. Recommended for those small emergencies on the road!

This is a minimalist kit. The packaging is as represented. There is some room in the case so I added a few more items to it. Overall, I am happy based on the cost. It is worth what paid for.

I don't find that this helps with itches for more than 30 minutes to an hour, max. The directions state not to apply it more than 3 to 4 times daily (which I don't follow, because my current bites itch during all of my conscious hours).

I think "cooling relief" is a great idea, but I don't really feel any cold sensation.

This heals my behind-the-ear ear eczema in about two days. It's not too severe. I can't say NOT picking at it wouldn't heal itself, but I have a bad habit of peeling the skin/scab off. My ear eczema isn't very itchyjust flaky and kinda burns. I don't apply it regularly; I usually apply it once I've really irritated my ear. Then I usually lose the tube once a week perpetuating the cycle of picking and applying. Don't do this!! There is a cooling feeling but it's overshadowed by the burning feeling from my weeping eczema.

Went years with dealing with scaling/flaking hair line despite trying several products, including shampoos and creams. Tried cortizone after reading an article stating that this helps Seborrheic Dermatities. Did not expect much, but firgured it couldn't hurt. But to my surprise it made it go away completely!! Now I use it once or twice a week prophylactically.

Nexcare Nexcare All Purpose Mask

This mask does not appear to be "N anything". Amazon's product description states:

"99% filter efficiency against ragweed pollen"

"filters out 99% of wearer's exhaled airborne bacteria"

One might think this mask meets the NIOSH "N99" requirements. It apparently doesn't even come close. The box shown in the Amazon description does not match what was actually shipped in November 2011. The front of my box states, "Filters out > 95% of wearer's exhaled airborne bacteria" and "Helps reduce exposure to household dust, ragweed pollen and yard dusts". There is no NIOSH "N" designation anywhere on the packaging, and the masks' performance criteria certainly appear to be below that advertised.

I bought these masks to use when exposed to allergens like dust, or oven cleaners or weeds. In particular, I had been helping a friend take care of a pet coop (chickens) and the straw (or the chickens) gave me a sore throat. These little masks made a big difference. I can certainly recommend them.

Don't bother. I you want these to block out any air pollutants or allergens, they are a waste of money. They do not provide any seal, the elastic is flimsy and breaks easily. I used one and thru the rest away

My mother uses quite a bit of oxygen and, when changing her portable tanks, the oxygen key is great to start the flow of oxygen. She was given 1 and, if it breaks and she needs to use a new portable tank, she's up the creek without a paddle. This way she has a couple waiting in the wings.

These Rescue Howler whistles are the same as the yellow Micro whistles except for the package label. They even have the same "Fox 40 Micro" imprint on them. Although they used to be different compare pictures of the two whistles where the lanyard is threaded through to attach they're the yellow Micro whistles, now.

And yes, they are EXTREMELY LOUD when blown properly. If given a half-hearted puff, the whistle produces a weak sound such as J. B. Turner complained about.

Personally, I think every child should be issued a whistle when on a hike or camping. These whistles appeared to be ideal. It is lightweight, and very shrill/loud when I blow it. What's not to like? The answer for me is the energy required to blow it. My small eight year old daughter seems to have a bit of a problem blowing it and getting the desired sound. It is much easier for her to produce the sound with the the fox40, or even a classic referee's whistle. It could also envision a problem if a badly injured adult is attempting to use it for signaling. For that reason I'm sticking with the fox 40 for my kids.

The idea behind this product is a good one. But i found that you need to put quit a bit of brerath behind it to get the level descibed in discription. If you take into account that some one injured may not have the ability to put all that much air into blowing the whistle it's not a good thing. In an emergency situation when you realy need it you are out of luck. Just my opinion, never the less i believe a good emergency signaling whistle should take into account that possibility.

I got these whistles for my emergency supply kits for home and auto, for me and family. I like the fact that they are pealess, that is, they don't have that little pea-sized ball of cork or plastic inside that makes the whistle work. In that sense, they are supremely reliable and will work as they should so long as the holes are not plugged or obstructed.

The noise they let out is attention-getting and positively ear-splitting. These are good attributes and exactly what you want in an emergency whistle. Also, they are well-made and thick-walled.

The issue I have with them is that I really had to blow hard too hard, in my opinion to get these to sound off the way they should. In some situations, say if you were injured or trapped in a structure after an earthquake, it may not be possible or desirable to really fill up your lungs and bear down on this thing. While recognizing that there is some relation between air pressure and volume it seems that there should also be a way of generating an effectively loud signal without maximum pulmonary effort. As a reference, I am a fit and athletic man in his early 40's and not a frail asthmatic.

So, I have to give these whistles excellent marks for quality and for a sound that you could probably hear for miles. I give them fewer stars, however, as some in need of a rescue would not necessarily have the capacity to really give their lungs a workout on this whistle. I'm not just considering what I would be able to do with this whistle, you see, I am also considering whether my wife and child would be able to use it.

You need to blow pretty hard to get these whistles to sound properly. If you do, they're really loud and shrill. If you don't, they sound pretty pitiful. As other reviewers have pointed out, children or injured adults may have difficulty blowing hard enough, so make sure to test these out once you get them.
