I used this product on my son's bedsore / pressure ulcer. After spending two years and hundreds of dollars on wound care etc. a Chinese acupuncturist recommended this to me. I can tell you that it worked in two weeks, it reduced the bedsore by 50%. Stupidly I stopped using it because I had to go to wound care for an appointment. It went backwards from there on because I stopped using it.
After that I restarted using it and the sore has closed and all is well. Be careful though if there are tunnels, the powder gets on the opening and then you may find that the opening is losing faster than the tunnel. You may find yourself with the opening closing with a tunnel still open below the surface. What I did when I saw this hapening was to mix some of the powder in the saline that I was using to flush the wound so that the medicine was getting all the way inside. Once the inside healed and I was left with just a surface wound, then I applied the powder again. End result, wound healed forever. Gave it to a friend who had a diabetic ulcer that would not heal for months, she used it and in two weeks it was gone. She gave it to another friend and her problem was also gone in two weeks, not sure what happened after that but she asked me to get more for her to give to others.

I ordered the Yunnan Baiyao after the initial capsules from the vet were finishedfor very much cheaper, of course! (about 1/6 the cost, not in capsule form, but in powder).
I was concerned about the product quality, and really if ALL "yunnan baiyao" came from an original sourceand so I wrote Amazon. Within a few days, I heard directly from the manufacturer (in China)... to my satisfaction (there is another product with a very similar spellingwhich was previously a licensee, but is no longer).
Since then, I have had the opportunity to test for myself the effectiveness of the product on our dog-who has a cancerous fibroma on her upper jaw. Gaya is now given Yunnan Baiyao dailyand if she has bloody discharges (it has happened twice), I simply increase the dose, and it immediately stops. It is really quite an amazing product. Apparently, it is effective whether taken internally (as in food),or applied topically (on a wound).
By the way, the manufacturer's rep was surprised to find out that I was giving it to my dog. Apparently, in China... this is typically a human medicine!

This is my "go to" for kitchen knife cuts and wounds. I cut my finger. I pour the powder on top. I go on with what I'm doing. I remember my mom slicing her hand open with a cleaver and she just poured on the powder. Feral cat attacks? Pour on the powder. Infection on cat from post-surgery stitches? Pour on the powder. Yes, it's safe for animals. You don't even need a bandaid, the consistency of the powder is sufficient. But do keep your treated wound away from water, or stick a bandaid on top if you know you're going to get wet. For deeper, hospital-necessary wounds, I agree with the other review. Pour on the powder on the way to stem the blood flow until you can get there and the doctor takes over. Yunnan Baiyao's disinfecting properties make it perfect to kill germs and bacteria. The powder form helps to stem blood flow and encourage clotting. One of the best Chinese medicines in my opinion.

I bought this to help my cat with an ear issue. It was not that easy to work with, somewhat messy. Once I learned the combination of powder to water it was easier to deal with. It did seen to work, though.
