DormDoc Student First Aid/OTC Med Kit - 120 Piece
I got this for my college student daughter. As another reviewer noted, the packaging is flimsy. All 120 items are in two pouches, like the plastic pencil pouches you put in a three-ring binder. When my daughter tried to use the first aid supplies in the first pouch, she couldn't get them to fit back into the pouch. After several attempts, the "zipper" came off the track and won't close. The same thing happened with the second pouch containing all the medications. Also, she'll use the ibuprofen, but the only cold medicine has a pain reliever AND a cough medication AND an expectorant AND a decongestant in it. The phenylephrine decongestant made her "jittery", so she can't use the combination medicine. I wish she could take just the medicine she needs for the symptoms she has. Anyway, It's an interesting idea, but next time I'll put the money into different supplies in a sturdier container.

The DormDoc is a great medical kit. I wish they had been around when I was in college because there were several times I could have used one. It also makes a good travel first aid kit for camping.

This is amazing not as powerful as i would have liked but i guess if you are a first time user it is perfect. My husband is some how still clueless but i guess i am going to have to tell him what he needs to do because he is far off.This is a product that does everything for you no need to move how ever you will lol butt it's great mine has not broke, but i have felt a slight slow down as the uses increase. Item arrived within the time period stated, price was good and the whole process was very simple and easy. Nothing to complain about the whole order process.When I first started dialysis, the dialysis nurse used 1 inch squares of gauze folded over into quarters and held down with a high elasticity adhesive bandage to control the post dialysis bleeding from my fistula. The next morning when I removed the bandages, the areas under them were depressed and bruised and barely healed by the time the next dialysis session had to take place. I bought a supply of Nexcare Coban wraps and insisted the nurses and aides use it instead of adhesive bandages. The bleeding is brought under control in the usual fashion but then the 1 inch gauze pads are removed and two 4" x 4" gauze pads folded in half are laid over the catheter sites and secured with Nexcare Coban wrap. This method eliminates the physical trauma to my fistula and results in faster healing for the next session. The nurses and aides were a bit resistant at first but I insisted and once they saw the results became very cooperative.If you are in dialysis, you have been told that your fistula is your lifeline! You want to treat it with kid gloves and protect it in every way possible so that it lasts as long as possible. Buying your own elastic wrap bandages is a no brainer solution if you ask me. I use the automatic delivery system so that I know I wont ever run out.

TV ads sway people to use products that are simply not the best for them to use in certain situations. As a microbiologist, let me explain and suggest an alternative:Ads encourage folks to use antibiotic-containing cremes and ointments for almost every scratch, cut and itch that occurs. Unfortunately, doing this encourages antibioitic resistance by bacteria. Too, although such agents do kill or inhibit many bacteria, they seldom contain agents that affect the yeast that can grow when normal bacteria are removed--the yeast that causes thrush or "yeast infection".
A MUCH BETTER alternative is to use Povidone Iodine ointment. Povidone Iodine is the active ingredient in Betadine and other similar surgical scrubs, and it releass iodine when used. Unlike the antibiotics used in OTC ointments, iodine kills all bacteria AND also kills the yeast that can overgrow. Povidone Iodine ointment literally CAN'T be overused, as no microbial resistance to it has ever been documented.
So, instead of "Thinking antibiotic", THINK POVIDONE IODINE! (By the way, old tincture of iodine works similarly and is equally effective!!)

I find this product difficult to locate at local pharmacies (some e.g. our local Walmart and Walgreens will not even order it) yet it seems to be the better antibiotic for small wounds. In my families experience the providone iodine ointment(generic Betadine) is superior to Neosporin, Polysporin or Bacitracin ointments and unlike the Betadine solution it is easy to use with a band-aid. Our experience is quicker healing and less scarring. The only drawback is the color, if your sensitive to iodine, and possible staining. I love the product I have used it for years, sometimes its hard to find. One tub can last me more then a year so to buy three at once would be a little crazy. I was looking for a replacement for the old tube of Betadaine branded povidone iodine ointment that I had picked up at Walgreens, many years ago. After countless times of my gf telling me that I snore, I felt really bad. Did everything I could after researching about snoring on the internet. Tried to lose weight (hard if you are a lazy person like me, not too active, and busy with work), used to but stopped drinking alcoholic beverages (red wine) at night before I sleep, kept myself hydrated. Still that didnt seem like it eliminated my snoring issue but I was going to test it out a couple of more times before passing judgement on this item.
2nd night same thing, took a while to get to sleep but once i did and woke up, my gf said she didnt not wake in the middle of the night. So I guess I cant say I didn't snore but so fare it is a good start. Will update my review once I use this more often.

Clearblue Fertility Monitor 1 Count
I bought this monitor after 8 months of trying to concieve. I have very irregular periods so the thought of a machine telling me when I was ovulating sounded great.About the machine: You have to program it to start during your period. So, if you buy it in between your cycles, you need to wait until your next period to begin using the monitor, however you can program it up to day 5 on your period, meaning if you buy this and you are anywhere from day 1-5 in your menses, you can program it for whatever day between those five days you are on. If you purchase the monitor and you are on day 3 of your period, the monitor will allow you to program day 3 and start from there. For me I had a bit of trouble figuring out the programming but to be honest Im not that mechanically inclined, but I did eventually get it.
You start testing when the maching tells you to, so you won't be testing everyday. This helps because it saves $$ on the sticks. You pee on the stick in the morning (first morning urine for best results, as opposed to afternoon urine with OPK'S) at the same time every morning. There is a 3 hour window that is allowed. So if you set your clock for 7am, but you really have to pee at 5:30, you pee at that time so the urine is concentrated. The 3 hour window can go either waybefore 7am or after, just as long as its the first urine. The machine will give you either a low, high or peak (with a little egg next to the peak days) reading. The instructions advise you to baby dance on high and peak days.
Now for the cons. Its pricey! The machine itself is expensive, much, much more then OPK's and the sticks are pricey as well. When you buy the machine it will come with a certain amount of sticks, but then you need to buy refills which can get costly.
Did it work?? For us it worked. I was able to get pregnant the second cycle using this monitor. It showed that I was ovualting on day 10, where I figured I was around days 12-16, so we were way off. With the new found knowledge of when I was actually ovualting we got pregnant with our little boy.
I used this monitor every month for over a year with one successful pregnancy (ending in miscarriage). The very thing I liked about this tool is possibly what prevented my getting pregnant sooner. I relied too much on the accuracy of the monitor! The machine reads the stick and displays the "fertile day" sign. If there are any errors in this reading, you won't know because you can't read them yourself. You must rely totally on the accuracy of the machine. Whereas, with the simpler ovulation predictor sticks, you can read them yourself; see the line to determine if it is darker or lighter than the test line and can compare it with sticks from one day to the next.
After trying to conceive for so long, I found myself only focusing on the "prime fertile days." I didn't have the energy to "try" if the monitor didn't say I had to. I think by narrowing my target to the 2 or 3 perfect days that this machine predicted, caused me to actually miss my fertile days. I think the machine was wrong. I came to this conclusion one month when I decided to check behind the monitor by using it simultaniously with the ovulation predictor sticks. The monitor read my LH surge as day 12 and I read the sticks as surging on day 18. If I had not checked behind the machine, so to speak, I would have missed my actual peak time. By NOT paying attention to the monitor readings, I persevered and kept at it until day 18 and this was the month I got pregnant.
I'd recommend that if you do buy this monitor, use it as a guideline and not as the gospel. Use it to indicate your fertile days but don't stop there. Don't just "try" on the fertile days. The one pregnancy I did have was due to "trying" even after the machine said it wasn't productive.
One final note, the sticks for this machine are bought in boxes of 30 and are very expensive. You MUST use 10 per month dictated by the machine. Purchasing the box of 5 or 7 ovulation predictor sticks is actually less expensive and you need only use the number of sticks until you see the "peak." These kits are complete as is (just add urine!) and do not require the purchase of an expensive machine.

I had been trying to conceive for about 4 months before deciding to use this monitor to help me understand my cycle and to shorten the time to conception by helping me identify my high and peak fertility days. I used this for six cycles without success and then chose to consult with my ob/gyn. She put me on the generic version of clomid, and for the first two months (cycles 7 and 8 using the monitor) it appeared to work by identifying peak times for conception. However, the third month on the medication (cycle 9 using the monitor), I had only high fertility readings, but no peak. Yet this was the month that I conceived. My research online seemed to suggest that this system isn't always compatible with Clomid.In the meantime I had also purchased "Taking charge of your fertility" and used the information about the physical signs of fertility in conjunction with the information I had previously learned from the monitor to understand my own signs better. All this information together allowed my to successfully identify my peak days during the one cycle when the monitor didn't register. Although it is tedious to test 10 times during each cycle and the cost of this unit was a little on the high side, I am so thankful that it helped me conceive that I don't mind the downsides.
UPDATE: This monitor helped us conceive twice. I got pregnant after only three cycles the second time.

There are some great items in thenkit and a few that aren't so important to me. Mueller Jumpers Knee Support
When I was training for a marathon, I suffered from runner's knee and this helped me get through my training and the race. It worked and was cheap, so it was a great solution.I gave it a 3 for two reasons:
-Sizing only available in one size fits all. I'm a smaller woman and it would have been nice to have different sizes. It fit fine, but there was a lot of excess to wrap around.
-Lacks plastic loop I've used the knee strap by Pro-Tec, which has a plastic loop and makes it easier to tighten the strap. The Mueller strap is only a strip, so you have to wrap it around to get it tight, no loop to get some leverage. This wasn't a deal breaker, but it wasn't as easy to use, especially if you are trying to tighten it while on a run.
Overall, I recommend it because of the cost. But the other features are nice if you are willing to pay a few extra bucks.
I suspect this thing will work best for people that have knee problems where there is some tendonitis in their knee, and perhaps where the kneecap is going out of place (the strap pushes down on the tendon which seems like it would hold the kneecap down more firmly). Other helpful knee products I liked include Treat Your Own Knee Arthritis.

I cannot believe how well this works. I was extremely skeptical when purchasing but after using it I was completely amazed.I was running between 3-6 miles 4 times a week and each time I would get a pain in my knee, right below the knee cap. Usually the pain would star around mile 2 or 3 and sometimes it would be too bad for me to finish the run. My friend told me to get one of these which I put off for about 3 months. Anyways I am training for a 1/2 marathon and figured I should finally get one. My first time using it was an 8 mile run and to my amazement / enjoyment I did not have any pain. I mean sure there was a little bit but honestly the further I ran the less I noticed it. I cannot believe I went this long without a knee strap.
I don't know if they all work this good but man, I love this thing.

I had been suffering from a pain right below my knee cap for months. I am 33 and play soccer 3-4 times a week. My X-rays looked like my knee was in good shape. He pressed around on my knee and did various tests and when he hit the spot that hurt, I let out a small gasp. He smiled and said he knew what I had: patellar tendinitis also knows as Jumper's Knee.He suggested I get one of the straps and sent a lady in to show me what they had at the office. She was a runner and advised against the ones they sold there and suggested I try this brand. She said she wore it all the time and had amazing results. I am always a little skeptical unless I try something myself, but these things are so cheap you would have to be crazy not to try it to avoid pain.
I am truly surprised, after a week and a half of wearing this when I run and play soccer, I can walk up stairs without favoring my uninjured side. I am not having issues with pain when I go to bed anymore. My knee isn't completely healed yet, but I am already able to go back to sprinting hard and pushing myself again rather than having to take it easy.
So if you have pain right below your knee cap, give this strap a shot. I am amazed how well it works and a little upset with myself for not getting checked it out earlier.
