An excellent oil. :) It's pure, edible great. I bought this after returning a different brand of oil, when I realized that in the US oils can be sold as pure therapeutic grade even when they're not 100%.

Tried it mixed w/ ice cream (ONE drop in a HUGE bowl of ice cream is plenty!) yum! I'm looking forward to finding other ways to cook with it.

Betadine Swab Aid Antiseptic Pads, 10% Povidone, 100/bx

Betadine kills virtually all staph and strept germs that are present on the skin. It is the best single disinfectant to use on cuts, wounds, abrasions, etc. Betadine is iodine, 10% solution, so if you happen to be allergic to iodine, don't use this product (fortunately, iodine allergy is very rare). There are 100 swabs in this package, and the price is quite reasonable. I think every home should have 10% iodine as a part of an emergency kit. For maximum effectiveness, swab the area for about 1 minute, keeping it wet with iodine, air dry, and then cover with a bandage. Iodine will stain clothing, so be careful when applying it!

These swab pads are much nicer then the swab stick I have been using up until now. Badodine in general can be messy but these pads didn't drip when I pulled them out of the little packages and i was able to use one pad to wash both hands!

These little swabs are soaked with the betadine solution. The swabs are small. You know the little towlettes you get at some restaurants to clean your hands, these little swabs are about 1/4 as big. Like i stated before they are soaked with the solution so you probably do not need something bigger but just letting you know how small they are. Today is 4/29/13 and the ones i received have an expiration date of 09/2015 so i was satisfied with how long they will last. Bought a box of 100 so i put some in my first aid kit, some in my car and the rest will go in my bug out bag. Good product.

Betadine is an "ouchless" iodine solution used as a topical antiseptic. These pads are intended for cleaning the skin prior to injections, drawing blood, etc. so the pads are small. I buy them because they're great for cleaning and disinfecting any wound small and shallow enough not to need medical attention. A box of 100 is enough to keep some in the house, put some in the car's first aid kit, and put a few someplace else. (I keep a little first aid kit in my suitcase, and there are some Betadine pads in there, too.)

These have an expiration date that's about two years into the future, but they're sealed in foil and the solution itself is very stable. I'd be comfortable using one many years later so long as the pad is still wet.

Nexcare Nexcare All Purpose Mask

This mask does not appear to be "N anything". Amazon's product description states:

"99% filter efficiency against ragweed pollen"

"filters out 99% of wearer's exhaled airborne bacteria"

One might think this mask meets the NIOSH "N99" requirements. It apparently doesn't even come close. The box shown in the Amazon description does not match what was actually shipped in November 2011. The front of my box states, "Filters out > 95% of wearer's exhaled airborne bacteria" and "Helps reduce exposure to household dust, ragweed pollen and yard dusts". There is no NIOSH "N" designation anywhere on the packaging, and the masks' performance criteria certainly appear to be below that advertised.

I bought these masks to use when exposed to allergens like dust, or oven cleaners or weeds. In particular, I had been helping a friend take care of a pet coop (chickens) and the straw (or the chickens) gave me a sore throat. These little masks made a big difference. I can certainly recommend them.

These are the perfect size for five (5) low dose aspirin (81 mg), anything larger and they will not fit. There is an inner plastic container with a cap that fits in the aluminum casing. You can fit a larger size tables if you remove the inner container as long as it is close to the inner diameter of the aluminum casing. The inner container keeps the smaller tablets from rattling around and breaking themselves apart against the aluminum. The container has a rubber O ring sealing the top to the bottom, so it is waterproof, and the key chain ring on the top is perfect to attach top your key ring. Perfect for holding 5 or 6 ibuprofen tablets. I now have coworkers coming up to me at the first sign of a headache because they know I'll always have some on me! Very handy. The case is also small enough to not cause any discomfort while in my pants pocket.

These are SUPER small. A single regular Tylenol capsule (not gel cap) will barely fit into the interior capsule. If ur lucky enough to have uber small meds then this is the bomb. Most pills, gel-caps, etc. will not fit. My meds are to large for this, so it's kinda useless for me. Stocking stuffers next year, right. Haaaaha. Especially the festive red & green ones. xcept...who wants to think bout their meds while checking their xmas stocking. ;-/

I ordered these after losing a plastic water tight pill capsule that I've had for years. Loved it because plastic doesn't conduct heat as much as aluminum and is quiet & lite in the pocket. I thankfully also order the medium ones available on there. But, man-oh-man it's big. Sure wish there was an inbetween size like my old one. This product is great. I used to carry Anxiety medication with me in wallet and it would always turn to dust. I could never find an easily potable container that I could carry with me everywhere I go until now. These things are perfect for SMALL/TINY pills. I'm able to fit 2 of mine in the plastic inner container. Works great on your key ring, nicely made out of polished aluminum, durable and water tight. I have been using many brands of antiseptic cream for my kids' wounds and cuts.

I happened to try this brand thru my pediatric doc who recommended me to apply this one on my kid's knee who fell badly on the rough floor outside. The whole skin was peeled off and bleeding badly. I put this cream on my kid everyday before he goes to school and after his shower and covered it with bandage. Now there is no scare on his knee. I personally thinks that this is the best antiseptic cream that prevents scare.

Whats to say. Its a very effective useful product that has many burn and wound care applications. Bought this to resupply my first aid kits.

PROS:

1) kit has all bare essentials for baby

2) LOVE that it has a thermometer so I don't have to have my main thermometer in my diaper bag but would prefer it wasn't disposable just a cheap thermometer

3) reusable case is great and I restock my cases and add items I like too

4) hard case so don't have to worry about contents getting smushed

5) hard for kids to open so don't worry as much about my older kids getting in it!

CONS

1) not much in terms of QUANTITY of each item so this is really best for emergency back-up as you will have to restock after using. for example there are (3) tush wipes which we all know may just be enough to handle one heavy diaper bomb...maybe! so can't rely on for your wipe needs but I don't think this is what it is for. I really think it is a good back-up for when you find you are suddenly out of wipes in your diaper bag!

2) can be hard to open but I would rather it stay securely closed!

3) size is a little bulky and I kinda wish they had made a flatter version but still small enough for my needs

4) wish it was easier to get refills

they are perfect for the diaper bag or handbag.

Bio Cybernetics International Mat Mechanical Advantage Tourniquet Olive Drab - Model MAT01 - Each

I am in the US army and this product is so much better than a CAT tourniquet. I highly recommend this to anyone in the military.

The Mechanical Advantage Tourniquet (MAT) is designed to stop severe hemorrhage due to traumatic injuries from gunshot wounds, improvised explosive devices, edged weapons and other forms of trauma. In April 2007, the Navy Experimental Diving Unit conducted research titled, "Evaluations of Self-Applied Tourniquets for Combat Applications, Second Phase" in which they evaluated the efficacy of 13 tourniquets. This report is available for free online. Read it and come to your own conclusion regarding which tourniquet is best for your needs. The tourniquets were evaluated according to eight parameters which are detailed in the report. According to the report, "The tourniquets were divided into three categories according to their mechanisms of actions: windlass, ratchet, and stretch retention. Windlass types operate via a twisting action in which a bar is looped through the tourniquet material and twisted. Ratchet types function by a one-way locking device that pulls itself farther along a toothed track as the mechanism is actuated. Stretch-retention devices operate on the elastic properties of the device and are typically wrapped several times around the extremity." The MAT is a ratchet tourniquet. Additionally, the MAT is one of the faster tourniquets to apply to both the upper and lower extremity. According to the study subjective ratings on the MAT state, "Responses to the MAT were overwhelmingly positive: it received the highest ranking on the subjective scores. Users applauded such characteristics as its quickness of application, ease of use, and the sense of adequate tightness after tourniquet was secured."

According to Doppler Flow Measurements the MAT showed 92% no-flow in the upper extremity and came in 3rd out of the 13 tourniquets tested. For the lower extremity the MAT rated a 69.57% no-flow on the lower extremity and came in 3rd out of the 13 tourniquets tested. The goal is to get as close to 100% occlusion of arterial blood flow so that the patient does not hemorrhage to death. The MAT performs at a level that is satisfactory and works well. While the MAT is a solid tourniquet I still prefer using the Combat Application Tourniquet because it has repeatedly been proven effective in combat.

The C-A-T Combat Application Tourniquet, C-A-T, is an excellent and highly recommended addition to your first aid kit. The C-A-T Tourniquet has been researched and proven to be effective. When faced with a catastrophic injury to an arm or leg from a traumatic event with significant arterial bleeding then this tourniquet is a reliable and necessary piece of gear that has saved many lives. This tourniquet is fast and easy to apply one handed (although not as fast at MAT), under stressful conditions, and is combat proven on the battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan. Time is of the essence when faced with a serious injury with significant bleeding requiring immediate and effective control of bleeding. This tourniquet can literally be the difference between life and death.

Based upon research from the United States Army Institute of Surgical Research (USAISR) Battlefield Tourniquet Recommendations Issued July 28, 2004:

"The Combat Application Tourniquet (C-A-T) was effective 100% of the time in quickly and effectively occluding arterial blood flow in both the upper and lower extremities in all trials...Pain scores (pinching and circumferential) were dramatically lower with the C-A-T than any other strap-style device evaluated."

Research after this 2004 study has come to the same conclusion. Hence, the Combat Application Tourniquet should be a part of any serious first aid kit or medic gear. Get this tourniquet and be prepared for the worst case scenario.

Overall, the Mechanical Advantage Tourniquet (MAT) is a solid tourniquet that I do not feel has been completely established as a first line tourniquet. I have consulted with friends in the military (Air Force Pararescue and Navy SEALs) who have used both tourniquets yet prefer the Combat Application Tourniquet. I concur with their conclusions and recommend the CAT over the MAT. In the future this conclusion may change. If you get the MAT I still believe you will have a quality tourniquet.
