Ace Back Brace, One Size Adjustable

Ace Back Brace, One Size AdjustableCustomer review from the Amazon Vine Program I've been using back brace for over 20 years, I have spine fusion and metal implant, and I need lower back support most of the time. Needless to say I've tried numerous braces over the years, and this this one of the best. It's very light, breathable, and I can also adjust the amount of support needed by pulling more or less the two side elastic bands. It gives good support yet it is not too stiff. I had it on all day few times last week and it did not cause rashes like most other braces did. Excellent product, very happy with it.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I'm an aging American male who runs, lifts weights, works in a factory with a concrete floor, and does chores and gardening around the house. Like most people who fit that description, I occasionally have to deal with back pain, sometimes from straining, sometimes from overwork, sometimes for no good reason at all. (Once I even pulled a muscle in my back while putting on my socks! No, really.) As such, I have a battery of medicines for when pain arises, and I also have a choice of several back braces and wraps to alleviate pain and provide warmth and support when needed. I'd tried other Ace products before (who hasn't?), but never one of their back braces. Unbelievably (or maybe not so), I badly strained my back the day this arrived. I took it right out of the box and put it on.

I like that it goes on easy without instructions. It has a flexible, breathable band that fastens with Velcro, and two more overbands for tightening and support. The structure is a little lumpy, but it is thin enough that it can be worn under typical street clothes (though you may have to finagle the waistband of your pants a little). Once I got it on and stood up, I could immediately feel the solid support of this brace. It has some rigid plastic forms that run along the sides that help it maintain stiffness. To be honest, these were a little bit uncomfortable at first and took some getting used to. After walking around and sitting in a desk chair for a while, I sat in the sofa to watch TV. This was not a good idea. The plastic supports dug into my sides and hips, which was neither conducive to supporting my back or to alleviating my pain. I tried to move it up and down and around, but I couldn't get it to be comfortable when seated on the sofa. This led me to conclude that this particular back brace is only 100% effective when the upper body is upright and largely straight.

Even with that drawback, though, I consider this to be one of the better back braces I have used over the years. It really feels solid and provides a little warmth in addition to the strong support. I think it will make a perfect brace for when I need one while running or maybe mowing the lawn. I can even see me wearing it to work under my factory clothes, if I need to. Ace continues to be a leader in athletic supports and braces, and this back brace is no exception.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program Once you get this on in the right spot, it's very comfortable. I wore it for 8 hours last weekend while doing housework and it was fine. It's not as solid as a brace that you might wear for heavy-duty lifting, but you wouldn't want to wear one of those for 8 hours. Note also that it's less expensive than most of them.

As other reviewers have mentioned, depending on your body type, you may be limited in where you can comfortably locate this brace. I normally suffer from lower back pain, but couldn't find a sweet spot for this as low as I would've liked. Granted, it feels great around my midsection, but I wish I could wear it a little lower. To be fair, though, reducing my pudge a bit would likely solve that problem. Bear this in mind if you aren't on the slim side.

Unfortunately, this isn't supposed to go in the washing machine. So be prepared to hand wash it if you get it sweaty. In my experience so far, though, it seems to resist sweat and body odor pretty well. I didn't feel like I had to seal it up in a biohazard container after wearing it all day.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I have a herniated disc in my lower back due to a car accident. I can use all the help I can get when it comes to back support and pain relief.

When this Ace Back Brace first arrived I was highly impressed with the high quality of the brace. It is really well made. I also loved the fact that it has two levels of bands. This allows you to make it tighter and give yourself more support. The material is also very breathable. You could easily wear this all day under your clothes and not be too hot or sticky feeling.

This Ace Back Brace may not fit everyone. I am a female that wears a size 16 and this fits me perfectly. If I were any smaller, it would not fit. It should fit people that are larger than me to some extent (I am not sure what size it would fit up to). Since the brace is fastened by pulling in the ends on both side, I can not see a way around this. It would have been better if it was wrapped around one side so that it would fit everyone.

The biggest flaw however and the reason I will not wear this outside of the house is because it pushes things around on my body. I have a little bit of a stomach and it pushes my fat down to the bottom of the brace. It is most noticeable when I sit down while wearing the brace. It makes me feel self conscious and uncomfortable. I tried loosing it some, but then I felt as though it did not support my back enough when I did that.

I will continue to wear this around the house when my back hurts, but I will unfortunately not be using it at work where I need it most (I have a desk job).

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program Over the years Ace products have been my go to choice for a variety of small injuries. Overall the company's line up has held it own in providing quality comfort and aid in the healing process. I easily opted for this opportunity to test one of their newer products. After a few weeks use, these are my thoughts.

After reading over the instructions I affixed the adjustable back brace to a comfortable setting. I must admit the feel is lighter and less restrictive then I first thought. The foam back support is better then expected. Adjustment is quite easy with the velcro fastener. I'm not really sold on the side mounted polystyrene strips. They can be uncomfortable when bending over to pick up items. I had no problem with wearing it under my clothes.

Standing up or sitting down I found it quite comfortable. When doing lawn chores I didn't even know I wearing this back brace until I bent over to pick up debris. Again the side mounted strips that I had mentioned earlier led to my discomfort. With the help of my hefty neighbor (44" waist) I soon found out that this product is not one size fits all.

Overall, this Ace product has its good points. For me I prefer a more defined back brace vice the light padding that this model is outfitted with. Still, for small aches and pains this back brace is a better then average, cost effective alternative.

Dynarex 12 Triangular Bandage 40x40x56, 12 Count

Dynarex 12 Triangular Bandage 40x40x56, 12 CountThis product is an EXCELLENT value. You get 12 (yes TWELVE) full sized triangular bandages, for price of two traditional triangular bandages. They are individually packed in little zip seal bags with 2 safety pins per bandage.

BUT, know these are rather flimsy and of an open weave that is NOT near the quality and durability of a std. triang. bandage.

This is NOT a good product for extend wear as a arm sling!!! It will not hold up to much wear and open weave would have it getting snagged on just about everything.

That said, these are quite satisfactory for both immediate, short term critical care and for training purposes. In the training role, they can be easily washed, refolded and repacked in the individual bags quite easily.

As a retired Navy Corpsman I would not hesitate a bit to use these for holding sterile bandage (these are NOT sterile themselves) to head or torso where adhesive tape is not a good option especially if some pressure for control of bleeding is concerned. They also work well for immobilizing separated / sprained elbow or shoulder and sprained / broken ankle. They are also very satisfactory for SHORT term use as arm sling if treatment in medical facility is going to be available in a few hours. I have tested them also on immobilizing lower leg and arm fractures by using opposite limb as the splint and they are actually preferably to adhesive sports tape for this purpose if two are used as much easier to adjust degree of "tightness".

Overall an excellent product if you realize they are a "light-weight" product and are not very durable, but PERFECT for emergency use as can get 6 times as many for the price.

There's not much you can say about a triangle bandage. Either it's a bandage or it's not.

These bandages are individually wrapped in little ziploc bags and include safety pins for... well, pinning them. The bandage fabric itself is a little thinner than other brands I have seen, but it's also thicker than some others I've seen. As for doubling as a sling, yeah, in a pinch it will work but it wouldn't be my first choice as a sling.

For it's current price of .61 cents apiece you'd be a bit daft to complain.

It's a bandage, it bandages things, can also be used to tie and bind things. Your imagination is your limit with these.

Better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it!

Buy Dynarex 12 Triangular Bandage 40x40x56, 12 Count Now

Your first aid class will show you the triangular bandage is the 'duct tape' of the first aid world. You can do a LOT with them and they will substitute for many other items. For example, you can refold it and wrap it around a wound holding a dressing. It is, of course, a natural arm sling, but can be used to tie limbs into splints, or any number of other tasks. These come with safety pins enclosed in each one, nice touch.

These are nifty bandages.

If any of you have had any Scout or wilderness first aid training, these are the bandages typically used for all those specialized bandaging jobs (e.g., ankle bandage, arm sling, collar bone immobilizer, head bandage). So, for Scouts, having a box of these handy makes lessons and demonstrations much easier than using neckerchiefs (which used to be much larger, but are now too small for most of the bandages). As a father with six sons, these have been invaluable for wrapping up and slinging sprained (and even broken) wrists and arms, and they work well for keeping ice packs in place, too.

Each bandage comes in its own zipper-seal bag, with a safety pin. I typically tie off my bandages with a square knot, but safety pins can always come in handy.

I added one of these to my personal first aid kit, and keep another one in a small survival kit. The cloth works well for starting fires if nothing else.

My wife got a box of these for my birthday last year. She knows how much I love the outdoors, and how much I love having the right gear. [I guess she might also be remembering how I broke my leg during a wilderness trip in 2006, and how I commented (when I got home) that we didn't have any triangular bandages in the first aid kit.]

Want Dynarex 12 Triangular Bandage 40x40x56, 12 Count Discount?

Simple packaged triangular bandages with safety pin. Good to carry with your outdoors first aid kit as these work great for making a sling on the spot. Just hold it up and tie a knot at the 90 degree point and wrap around the arm and tie in the back. 12 is a bit more than most people will need but I just split them up into all my kits ( car, home, etc )

Campho-phenique Antiseptic Gel

Campho-phenique Antiseptic Gel, 0.50-OunceTogether with Silver Biotics 16 Ounces, Campho Phenique worked so well keeping infections down. We saved two hospital visits. When we were using the Campho Phenique, we used liberally just to make sure the infected area was well covered, so yes we used several boxes. Just a note that over time, it does dry the skin but the infection should have calmed down by then. The earlier you detect the problem, the better it would be in counteracting the problem, so we keep this always handy in our medicine cabinet. Hope this info helps because it did work for us. And take the colloidal silver alongside this as well. We used both when treating the infections so they obviously work well together.

This has certainly changed, no wonder it can't be bought in the stores. It dries out the sore, not moisturize or heal it.

First Degree Therapeutic Burn Cream, 0.75-ounces Tubes (Pack of 4)

First Degree Therapeutic Burn Cream, 0.75-ounces TubesI got a few really bad grease burns last night while searing ahi on the stovetop. The grease splattered and burnt in between my middle and ring fingers on my left hand, on the back of my palm just below the index finger, and left a small burn on the back of the left wrist. I went to Walgreen's and bought this ointment after much debate in the first aid aisle. I slathered the ointment on and wore a plastic glove over my hand to sleep. This morning, the two more severe burns in between my fingers and on the back of my index finger are practically entirely healed. The third burn, which didn't get as much ointment and wasn't covered by the glove to keep the ointment on all night, is the only one that hurts and is red this morning! I can put my engagement ring on pain free this morning, and I couldn't even slide it on last night so happy!

I got burns on my face and hands, as a result of something I am frying exploded in hot oil.

no warning nothing. Just that there was built up of hot air and the dough found a small opening and shooted out. along with it oil splattered and got on my face and hands.

rest of my skin protected by clothing.

well a friend of mine gave this cream and it worked magic. Burns completely healed in a week. It will take a little long for scars to disappear.

I recommend every house to have this as first aid for burns and cuts. Also I read that this product is good for insect bites (fire ants, bees, wasps etc.)

Zicam Cold Remedy RapidMelts Citrus -- 25 Quick Dissolve Tablets

Zicam Cold Remedy RapidMelts Citrus -- 25 Quick Dissolve TabletsI felt scratch throat then

I bought Zicam rapid melts took for two days I had no colds or chest infection symptoms

The last time I had scratch throat I was in bed sick for a week took mucinex but it didn't

resolve anything, with zicam cold syptoms gone!!

I've been using the CVS store brand without stomach aches or nasty taste problems despite what the fact that the box warns of possible stomach aches. I bought a bottle of the Zicam brand to see if the original product worked any better but the taste is just plain awful. The citrus flavoring doesn't cut it. I dissolve a tablet then I throw it away when I get near the core cuz that's when it starts tasting really bad. Plus you get bad stomach acid from this if you use on an empty stomach. I can dissolve the CVS brand on an empty stomach without acid problems AND (unlike the Zicam) it actually tastes good. Ironic that this becomes a case where a generic brand is actually better to take than the actual brand. As far as whether or not the product works, I'm sure it does. It's helping my current cold where I dont have a crazy stuffy nose. But if you want to avoid stomach acid and nasty tastes dont do the Zicam brand.

Buy Zicam Cold Remedy RapidMelts Citrus -- 25 Quick Dissolve Tablets Now

Zicam RapidMelts have killed many a sore throat of mine. As soon as you feel a cold coming on or your throat starts to get scratchy, pop one of these in your mouth, and keep taking them every three hours for the rest of the day. If that doesn't kill your stuffy nose (and it will), take more the next day until your symptoms are gone.

Though Zicam doesn't work as well once you already have a full blown cold, it can help you get well more quickly. I highly recommend Zicam to anyone who gets head colds and sore throats frequently.

Safety 1st Ultrasonic 360 Degree Humidifier

Safety 1st Soothing Mist Ultrasonic HumidifierI have been looking for a filterless humidifier for the past couple years. I had a humidifier that I liked but it used these strange accordion paper filters. It only took a couple of months for the filter to get moldy or have lots of water deposits. It was pretty disgusting and I kept having to buy refills. That added up quickly. A friend at work brought her humidifier in and said she loved it. So I decided to invest in this one. I am really impressed. I took it out of the box and filled up the reservoir very quickly and had it on the machine running in less than 2 minutes. The other bonus is that the unit is ultra quiet. It makes a little bit of noise which is nice for the white noise but it isn't obnoxious or distracting. I love that you have a lot of options for the mist output. It isn't just 2 or 3 levels. There is a lot of variation. My favorite unique feature is that it has two mist outlets so you can have the air go in two directions (I am not really sure how important this is but it is a nifty feature). When you open the box the two misters are stacked but you can move them whatever direction you want. Finally, and most importantly I like that it is filterless. This saves a lot of money for me and I am just tired of gross filters. I am a big fan of this humidifier and would recommend it to anyone looking for a good humidifier. It is marketed as a baby room humidifier but I would just buy it the blue one and use it in every room of your house.

Update: For some reason the motor has started being loud when I turn it on. If it tap it, the noise goes down. I will keep you updated. 2/24 the noise is no longer an issue. Still working great. Love how quiet it is and the quality of the mist. My little girl is sick right now and it is helping a LOT. We must have got a faulty one. Motor stopped working BUT they are sending me a new base out in 10 days. Make sure to keep your receipt in case of a faulty product. Very impressed with the company.

I've owned this humidifier for a little over a year now, and it's never let me down. The product description is a little lackluster though. I wouldn't use this in a room that's over 500 sq ft. It worked great in my bedroom last winter, but I have an open floor studio apartment now (around 7-750 sq ft) and it's just not enough. Even with refilling it twice a day and having it run 24/7 the humidity level in the air has never been above 40% (and that was on a warm, rainy day).

Very quiet operation, when turned up all the way the most you will hear is a slight "trickling" noise from the ultrasonic waves splashing the water around.

Make sure the surface you put it on is level. Even a slight bit off can cause it to leak water.

In the past I've needed to buy on average a new humidifier each winter because they're always cheap and crap out, not so with this one. Overall the merits of this humidifier vastly out weigh my complaints.

Buy Safety 1st Ultrasonic 360 Degree Humidifier Now

I enjoy the absence of the whirring sound that my old humidifier had and the lack of a filter to get moldy is great. The first two nights I had issues with the area on the table and floor underneath and around the humifier getting completely soaked with water and thought I would have to return it until I realized that the directional nozzle that fits on the top of the tank had fallen on the floor when I opened it. I decided to try it one more time with the nozzle on the top and that resolved the soaking issue. If I run it at full blast it doesn't last the whole night but it works just fine at about 60% output. You can't refill it at a typical bathroom sink because of the height of the tank but I keep a water bottle handy and it does the trick. No real complaints. Its not fabulous but suits my needs and is offered at a good price.

I bought this to replace a larger whole-house style humidifier and ultimately it was disappointing.

Pros:

Quiet enough not to disturb baby

Ability to aim mist from top (it turns to direct mist)

Tank is not heavy and could be filled in bathroom sink

Bottom base, easy to clean (not easy to clean water tank)

Tight seal on bottom of tank

No filters to replace (though does require those useless protect cartridges)

Cons:

If you don't leave some water in the base (walk it carefully back to your room), when you load the water tank onto the clean, empty base about 1/3 of the water in the tank is immediately "lost" so you have to refill the tank again to make it through the night

Impossible to clean water tank (despite soaking with bleach and vinegar) we had nasty pink stuff growing and it couldn't be reached soaking in vinegar didn't work, neither did the bleach

Plastic was flimsy tank cracked in the middle of the second winter (though I was washing this thing every single day and did my best to be gentle and not bang it on the sink while attempting to reach the mold inside)

For the $25 I paid, it got me through a winter and I learned a valuable lesson about "cool mist" humidifiers AVOID. I actually ended up writing a review today because I was researching safety of these types of units and as it turns out, cool mist humidifiers have the potential to cause some real harm by spreading microbes and minerals from the water into the air. My next purchase will be a "warm mist" humidifier, with a UV light.

I bought one of these at the start of last winter. Worked like a champ all winter. Light cleaning each week, using only filtered water and so far so good. Currently in use for the second winter and love having it!

This little brush is great. I have always struggled with plaque build up on my lower front teeth. With this little brush, it is easy to brush this area well, with ease. And it has been the best and cheapest tool I have used to help with the plaque build up. It also is great for the entire mouth. Your teeth feel extra clean after using your regular tooth brush and this "tuft" brush. I have waited a long time for something like this. I think every child needs one of these. It brushes every corner of every tooth much better than any regular size tooth brush that I have tried.

AMK - Quikclot Sport Pack

Quikclot Sport Brand Advanced Clotting Sponge ,Stop Bleeding Fast, 50 Gram PackageWhen a fellow backpacker slipped while carrying his pack saw, he cut his upper thigh pretty badly. Although no major vessels were involved, the wound bled profusely. This QuikClot product was applied to the wound with direct pressure and then bound in place. While the wound was not extraordinarily severe, the injured man was quite upset by the amount of blood he appeared to be losing prior to application of the dressing. Once the QuikClot product was in place and a thick sterile pad secured over it, only a small amount of blood was visible. This added tremendously to reassure the injured man that he was not in great danger from bleeding. Others in our party assisted the man back to the trail head and he was taken to a local hospital where the laceration was sutured.

This product is an absolute 'must have' item in any aid kit for people working or enjoying the out of doors in locations distant from immediate medical care. This order was a replacement for the product I used. As an aside recommendation, QuikClot Sport is very effective when used in conjunction with an 'Israeli-style' combat dressing (easily applied by one person or the injured victim).

This review is based on 1st hand experience (unfortunately).

I awoke one morning to a frantic knock on the bathroom door saying someone cut their finger badly. I hustled out of the shower & went down to the kitchen to see what was going on. To my surprise, it wasn't a cut -but rather an amputation of 1 & 1/2 finger tips. A kitchen towel was wrapped around the hand, but the blood was easily soaking the towel & running down their arm. I ran to get a pack that was in my gun bag & a second one in my diaper bag. By the time I got back (which wasn't more than a minute or so) the kitchen towel had been swapped out & a huge wad of gauze bandage was now dripping red. I told the victim to press the quikclot on & don't remove it for any reason. Within 30 seconds, the bleeding had stopped... period. There was no more bleeding until we got to the ER & the quikclot was removed by the doctor. At that point, it bled profusely again because the cut had knicked an artery.

Needless to say, I'm impressed by this product & have urged everyone I know to keep a few around! I now keep one in every vehicle, first aid kit & "high risk" activity bag.

My only complaints: they are rather pricey (for "what ifs") & a single small pack is really not enough. The small size really limits the types & sizes of injuries that the quikclot can be applied to.

All in all -every household should have at least a couple on hand. For the price of a few beers or coffees, you could save someone's life. Buy it.

My 73 year old Father slipped while field dressing an elk. His knife went into his leg and nicked his femoral artery. 40 miles from anything, and a spurting wound. We applied a Quick Clot sponge, and he's still with us. One and a half hours later we got him to the ER. The doctor said it absolutely saved his life. I still have my Dad because of this product. I can't imagine a better outcome, because of Quick Clot.

Quick clot is a natural enzyme that starts the blod clotting process in the body. Our bodies have small amounts of it that are there naturally, except for hemophiliacs. Quick clot is simply concentrated to a high level like vitamin supplements.

The US Army & Marines have chosen quick clot to stop battlefield bleeding and loss of blood volume and pressure. If it's good enough for the government, and been extensively tested by them then its ready to go for me. It's a natural product that does the job without nasty chemicals.

You should also have a roll of gauze to go with the quick clot to hold it in place. Pressure is an important part of stopping bleeding but all you get in the package is a 5x5" square that is embedded with crystals of the quick clot agent once they get bloody and wet they go to work right away promoting clotting. You need gause to hold the quick clot in place over the wound especially during the first 10 minutes (the clot will form in 5 minutes based on medical testing on the femeral artery being sliced open to insert a port to run a catheter up to the heart. The quick clot is put over the hole in the artery and held in place for 5 minutes, then removed with a nice clot formed over the artery. Keep in mind the arteries have the higher pressure and are harder to stop bleeding because they are high pressure blood vessels.

Finally, it's been shown that an individual can apply and secure a quick clot bandage by themselves, effectively self-treating a major blead without outside help. That's impressive, and that's why the quick clot and the gause roll are the first two items in my medical kit when I am out in no mands land.

It comes in 25g and 50g sizes, the 50g is a better deal and bigger. Get this one.

Not my first choice for topical hemostatic product.

Work at a place that stocks these and used them several times.

IMHO...

Works moderately well if that. But there's better stuff out there. Step up to a 2nd or third generation product.

Quick clot is essentially a mineral powder. First gen of product caused too much burning and got gravely mess in wounds that could cause clots (like intravascular bad ones.) But now they've solved those problems (so that's good) by reducing the heat and putting it in a tea bag... Problem is it doesn't seem to work very well on big bleeds, and the bag kinda limits the use. You have to get the bag onto the actual wound, if you have an avulsed scalp lac it's hard to pack it all the way up there, and if you open the bag (not recommended) the gravely stuff will be imbedded in the wound. Plus if I use this on myself (possible) then I have to really stuff the tea bag (ouch) into a fresh wound. I still have a couple lying around, they're cheap and plentiful and we still have them at work but they're not my first go-to item (even as last resort.)

Since I've used a couple of the Chitosan based products with better results. IMHO I think studies show they have better results, seem to have the mechanism of action that I think is better and doesn't have the clots or gravel issue.

Also I tend to go a bigger size. We've stocked one of these sponges in a kit for awhile and they seem too small for really big stuff and un-needed for small stuff.

So whatever you buy (quick clot or other) think of this... If the cut is small enough for the littlest version of the product to treat did it need it anyway? And will that littlest bag of hemostatic work on the biggest thing you really need it for?

(And again just imho, I stock 2 packets of 30g Cellox powder in my hip bag. After seeing accidents like Circ-saw to leg, skill saw to arms or hands, axe slipped into foot, knife wounds both slashing and penetrating, guardrail at speed to abdomen and leg, car window through hand and arm, fall through glass and arterial bleeds to arms, chainsaw injury etc... I want my stuff big, fast and easy; a CAT tourniquet, a couple rolled gauze, a big packet of hemostatic (either rolled gauze or powder), and tape.)
