Skin shield liquid bandages - 0.9 oz

Skin shield liquid bandages - 0.9 ozSince I discovered Skin Shield at Walgreen's about three years ago, I have been telling people about this product. I get cracked skin on my knuckles and fingers in the winter (probably from the anti-bacterial products I use and the cold air), areas that just aren't great places for a bandage usually. I use 1-2 coats of Skin Shield on a cut. It does sting at first -it's an antiseptic, so that's a given -but it has staying power after it dries, which is in seconds. There is no lingering medicinal smell, unlike some liquid bandages. It peels away and new skin is beneath. Last year, I needed some while out and about, but the drug store I stopped at didn't sell it. I bought a competing product and wasted my money: it wore away too quickly and the smell was still there after it dried. I'm sold on Skin Shield. :)

First, this is the next best product for making a nice flexible bandage layer other than the professional ones I use in the Emergency Dept (IE, Dermabond) But, unlike the others, it hurts a lot (likely due to the alcohol solvent). When I used it on my 3 year old's cut, she screamed for 15 mins after I applied it. Then, last night that I tried it on my own small superficial cut. I thoroughly agree that with her, it was incredible painful for about 15 minutes. And, given its nature, I don't think you can really wash it off once it starts hurting. Unfortunate for such a great product. Be careful, maybe it is best for cuts after 24hrs, when they have already started to seal off and then it would not hurt too much

I managed to cut my finger one day while I was chopping some onions. I used a regular bandaid on it for the first 24hrs and couldn't get the pain or bleeding to stop and I wasn't able to do any cleaning around my house bc my bandaid kept soaking up anything around. My mom gave me Skin Shield out of her drawer at work and said she used it for paper cuts, which I thought "Yea ok this is not a paper cut."

I had my boyfriend put it on my finger and it did hurt a lot at first, it had that alcohol burn to it. After a couple of minutes I manned up and had him do a second coat which was not nearly as painful. Later on I did the dishes and cleaned the kitchen and had no worries about my cut. I was even able to peel the liquid bandage off and it was fine underneath. I made sure to put rubbing alcohol on it and then reapply the skin shield and it did not hurt nearly as bad as the first time.

This stuff works better than super glue which I have had to use before. I am still able to do the work I need to without having to worry about water and other stuff in my cut! It hurts but it really does work! I will take a minute or two of pain if it means I still have a functioning extremtity!

Be cautious, if you're wanting to use this on a paper cut or basically any fresh cut, it will sting an intense amount! It does contain alcohol, so thats just a fair warning.

After a good 30 seconds of stinging, it should go away depending on the cut. I feel nothing but relief after this...

This product is a great alternative to bandaids. Unlike bandaids, there's no sticky dirty residue, there's no wrapper, it protects your cut completely from dirt, and it doesn't hurt to remove! My skin cracks on my hands in the Winter, and this provides a great cover for the cracks and protection so it doesn't get worse, and it heals too.

I've been using this product for 4 years and I think this is the best liquid bandage on market. I tried some other brands too but they just didn't protect wounds like this one.

We use this product religiously in our home. Everything from a small burn to a major laceration. This product works better than Bacitracin and heals wounds quicker than most other over-the-counter ointments. Pricey but well worth it and comes in convenient little packages. My daughter has several in her school backpack, my son has them in his truck's glove compartment and I always leave a few in my desk at work. Never know when you're going to need them!

Band-Aid Brand Adhesive Bandages, Tough Strips, Waterproof 20 Count (Pack of 6)

Band-Aid Brand Adhesive Bandages, Tough Strips, Waterproof 20 CountI bought these after having 3 small moles removed, one on each arm and one on my back. These lose stickiness after a few hours (if not minutes), and start peeling off after a shower. I've been using them for 5 days now (I refuse to pay $4 for another package) and not ONE has stayed on for more than 24 hours. These are on par with generic dollar store adhesive bandages quality-wise.

THIS IS REALLY GOOD WHAT I COULD FIND HERE ARE REALLY BAD QUALITY. THIS ARE THE BEST SO FAR THANKS

Band-Aid Brand Adhesive Bandages, Clear, Assorted Sizes (Pack of 6)

Band-Aid Brand Adhesive Bandages, Clear Water Block Plus, 30 CountI have used this type of band-aid for years! I haven't had too much trouble getting the band aid on. As long as you use the white "tape" on the back to help you put the band aid on, it goes on well. Once it's on, it stays on until I take it off. I haven't had one fall off when I got it wet...at least not yet. There is a first time for everything. Make sure you don't touch the sticky part. It's sticky and designed to stay stuck. If you touch it with your fingers, it WILL stick to your fingers.

When you need a band-aid in a particularly mobile place, all-around adhesive is important. That's only one advantage of these band-aids. I have used these in the crook of my arm, on my wrist and the base of my thumb. I've gotten them wet and scratched over them without thinking and I haven't had one come off by accident. In addition, I have very sensitive skin that is often irritated by bandage adhesive. I have no problem with these. The water block feature works well for me and is a big help on my hands especially.

At the moment I have a bit of poison ivy from some brush clearing and don't want it to spread so I covered the various spots with band-aids. The only places that have stayed reliably covered were those with these band-aids over them. The strips that have open sides where the pad is tend to buckle or snag on something and get pulled at least partially off. Once such a strip is dislodged a bit, you might as well just replace it as it will be annoying and will eventually come all the way off. One such place that was too big for coverage with the Water Block Plus strips was covered with such a band-aid and I scratched it off in the night, where the nearby spot covered with the Water Block Plus band-aid stayed completely secure. My fingernails went over and across it but didn't dislodge it at all.

Since I needed different sizes to cover my various rash spots, I got down my collection of band-aids and used whichever fit rather than because I needed the other features, anti-bacterial, waterproof or whatever, so I have a variety on at one time. These, the Water Block Plus ones, are the best and most reliable of all. I didn't intend to do this band-aid comparison test :) but having done so, I will now stock up on this particular kind. Highly recommended.

As a marathon runner, I use these bandaids to cover my nipples to prevent chafing. After running 26 miles in the summer and being all sweaty, they are still glued to my body and don't show any sign of coming off. There have been times when after my run I jumped in the shower, and was in there for sometime while still wearing the bandaids. They still didn't show any sign of coming off and are just as tough getting off as if they hadn't been in water at all.

In comparrison, when the store I went to didn't have any of these bandaids I instead bought the Bandaid Waterproof Tough Strips. After I got back from a run they were pretty much falling off and for the future, are useless for me. It's surprising though because they're supposed to be waterproof and they're the same brand. Anyway, the water block ones are great.

The only thing I don't like about these bandaids is that when you peel the backing off, it sticks to the sterile pad, so you end up touching it with your hand to try and remove it. That's not important for my use, but certaily, most people will be using these for cuts and such so it will be a problem.

This band-aid is the worst band-aid I've ever tried. First of all, there is almost no way to cleanly take the backing off the individual band-aid. It is tough to do, and you have to touch the part that is supposed to go on your wound to do it. IF you can take it off and NOT have the whole band-aid wriggle up into a sticky mess, then you deserve a prize. It scrunches up and sticks to itself like saran-wrap. I had to use about 5 each time to get one to even go on. Then it doesn't stick! It lasts only a few minutes before it loses its adhesion and opens up. The only thing it sticks to for sure is itself and that's before you get it on the wound. I'm not sure what the "water block" does, as the band-aid comes right off if it is exposed to water. The band-aids are very light and appear to be cheaply made.

The only reason I used them at all is that I needed them and there was a delay of a day or so before I could replace them. I went through almost the whole pack in that time. I only bought one pack, not the 6 sold here, and I'm grateful for that!

Not recommended at all, for any use that I can think of.

Blenderm Surgical Tape 1/2' X 5 Yards Single Roll by 3MThe tape is good to prolong a infusion site for a few hours, but it does not work well in the shower and won't last more than a day before having to reapply.

This product did not stay stuck on my skin. I use sensors to monitor my blood sugar and this tape is recommended to keep my sensor stuck to my skin when the sensor tape starts to peel. This tape didn't stay stuck to my skin and I had to replace the sensor after spending so much money on this small amount of tape that was supposed to stick. I'm very disappointed with this product.

I was looking for an option to the usual white, waterproof, medical tape found in drugstores so when I saw this clear version I jumped at it. I was a little disappointed that it was so thin (thinner than scotch tape) as I am used to the thicker version of white medical tape. On the plus side, this blends really easily with the skin. On the negative, if you have it on an area where it might be rubbed regularly (ex: heel of the foot) it can come off fairly fast.

Band-aid Brand Adhesive Bandages Sheer Strips, Extra Large, 10 Count

Band-aid Brand Adhesive Bandages Sheer Strips Extra Large All One Size 10-CountMy mom uses these regularly for her face and she insists they are much better quality than any store brand. She claims they stick all day long and do not hurt coming off. Nor do they irritate her skin like other adhesive bandages. They are, however, relatively expensive. Nevertheless, the "6 pack" deal here at Amazon is a good buy and much better price than I have seen anywhere else.

This updated version of the extra large band-aid is a big disappointment. The newer non-stick surface is rough on sensitive skin areas, particular if any pressure is applied such as on a foot. The older version of this band-aid was perfect with a non-stick surface that was smooth. Sometimes newer is not better. I have switched to other brands of band-aids that work better on sensitive skin (Curad, Nexcare).

I bought these to avoid the cheap Chinese made adhesive bandages. These are disappointing I'm guessing these are the same, just in a Bandaid brand box.

They are smaller than in the past, and the strip tears VERY easily. The pad is so thin I added another to get any effect. Where I used to use one of these to cover the back of my heel (new shoes rubbing and causing a sore) I had to use two and additional tape to keep them on.

I used half a box for one application tore one, two for each heel.

Sad to see the fall of what was a brand name known for its quality.

Johnson & Johnson First Aid Waterproof Tape (Pack of 2)

Johnson & Johnson First Aid Waterproof TapeThis tape is serviceable, but it isn't the strong, thick white tape I was expecting. Kind of gray, and not as stick as the tape that usually comes in this type of pack. But the seller gave me a bunch of it for free so no complaints there.

Band-aid Brand Adhesive Bandages Activ-Flex Regular, 10 Count Box

Band-aid Brand Adhesive Bandages Activ-flex Regular 10-CountI bought two orders of these since you cannot find these band-aids in the regular stores anymore. They do have the one for blisters, but not the same as these are made thinner for scrapes. A while ago, I was mountain biking and had an encounter with a tree. Long story short, the side of my jaw scraped the tree and left a nice 1" gouge. It was not deep enough for stitches, but it was certainly boderline. After using these band-aids for minor scrapes on my arms and legs with great results, I decided to use on my face. Although it took like a month before I could go out without a band-aid on, it healed the wound with only a faint scar. What is also nice about these band-aids is that they are made to stick on for a few days before peeling / falling off. Of course, you will need to change more often if applied to an area that sweats more, but for those areas, it stays on for at least 2 days. TIP: Before applying the band-aid to the wound, warm it up in your hands to make it stickier to your skin (rubbing in between your hands works well while the paper backing is still on). Also, once applied onto the wound/skin, try not to peel off to re-position since it will not stick as well after it has picked up some of the oils from your skin.

These are a little pricey, but they stay on really well, even in areas that are constantly flexed and bent. My husband had replaced a band-aid on his hand several times while working in the yard and finally decided to use one of these instead. He worked a few more hours and didn't have to replace the band-aid again for the rest of the day. It actually stayed in place until he removed it a days or so later.

My girlfriend loves those bandages! They are of great relief with some of her nastiest high-heels. They are soft, colorless and stick nicely to the skin.

Make sure, however, that the area is not pressed against cloth, else they will fall apart and the glue will spread all over the cloth.

Hydrogen Peroxide Antiseptic Solution 16 Oz

Hydrogen Peroxide Antiseptic Solution 16 OzOccasionally I will recommend hydrogen peroxide to my dental patients to treat stubborn dental gum infections at home. Since most gum infections (gum disease) is caused and furthered by bacteria that cannot grow in an oxygen rich environment, it makes sense to flood their environment with a molecule that releases oxygen, like hydrogen peroxide.

First have your teeth thoroughly scaled and cleaned by a dental professional. Then, when you floss, dip the floss in a mixture of 50% hydrogen peroxide and floss between the teeth, getting the floss as far down as possible under the gumline. Do every tooth contact twice and do this twice a day. It will cut down the pathogenic disease-causing organisms in the dental gum tissues pockets. It must be done consistently to have a lasting effect.

This is certainly not a cure-all since it cannot reach to the depth of deeper gum pockets. However, it will help to kill the organisms that cause gum disease. It is best used when the disease is relatively recent and has not caused extensive pocketing or bone loss.

One can finish the process by dipping ones toothrush in the 50% mixture of hydrogen peroxide and brushing the teeth and gums. Afterwards, one should rinse with water, as hydrogen peroxide leaves a an aftertaste that is not pleasent.

JIm Koenig, DDS

This stuff whitens teeth sooo well!!! I remembered my mom told me I should try this, but seeing that she doesn't use it (she doesnt whiten her teeth), I never saw the results. I didn't know what to try, but remembered what my mom told me, so picked up two bottles today.

With one use for one minute, my teeth were whiter than they had ever been after WEEKS of Crest white white strips, and other like-kits as well as whitening mouth wash AND whitening toothpaste.

Not only that, I could feel it killing the germs on my tongue and my gums were instantly less swollen (I have very sensitive gums).

This stuff REALLY IS incredible!! Thank you SOOO much MOM for telling me about this!!! It is SO affordable, but really works!

I'm just really impressed and want to let other people know.

Not too long ago, I read of a variety of ways to have fresher breath. One of the ways was to vigorously rinse the mouth with a 50% mixture of hydrogen peroxide and water for at least a minute prior to brushing. Then give the teeth a good brushing. Oxygen is death to bacteria and hydrogen peroxide is simply a water molecule with an extra atom of oxygen attached, which it readily releases to kill bacteria. Don't expect a miracle immediately as you may have an overwhelming amount of bacteria. Plus, it's good to have your teeth cleaned regularly. I recently had them cleaned and I've now been using this rinse and brush method for about a month. I can feel my mouth getting fresher day by day. It's amazing!

In any case, I picked up this Swan Hydrogen Peroxide Antiseptic Solution (16 ounces) at my local grocery store. It's not very expensive. You mix it with 50% water and only use a little at a time so it goes a long way. Read the warnings on the label, of course, and if you have any concerns, consult your doctor or dentist.

(#1 REVIEWER)I always have a bottle of Hydrogen Peroxide at home. It has so many uses! I use 50% solution of water and H.P. almost daily to clean my toothbrush. Sometimes I use the same solution to brush my teeth. It whitens the teeth well, although it does not taste great. However a little rinse with water fixes the after taste.

I used to use Hydrogen Peroxide for scrapes as well. Recently I fell and got a pretty nasty gash on my shin (4 inch by 0.25 inch). Because I was traveling I did not treat the wound as well as I should and got an infection. In a few weeks when I had to see the doctor to treat the infection, I asked what I should have used to clean the wound to avoid the problem next time.

Surprisingly, the doctor told me that Hydrogen Peroxide should not have been my first choice. The doctor said that H.P. does clean but also damages the healthy tissue and this prolongs healing. The doctor said that studies show that the best way to clean the wound is with plenty of plain water and soap and pressure on the wound to remove the debris. Hydrogen Peroxide should only be used if there is no access to clean water. So it should be in your emergency kit when you hike but not your first choice if there is access to soap and water.

Hope this helps someone to avoid a slow healing infection.

P.S. A note on price. My local grocery store sell 16 oz bottle for $1.50, I saw similar prices in a local pharmacy.
