I purchased this walker boot for my husband per his surgeon's recommendation. This boot has been a lifesaver for my husband. It is very comfortable and is easy to put on and off, plus it isn't very heavy. The foam liner is a very breathable foam and is washable. The velcro straps allow one to change the tightness around one's foot and ankle whenever needed as swelling goes up or down. The integrated air pump lets you adjust the pressure on your foot, and it inflates both sides equally. This was very important to us because other boots he tried didn't have this feature and were quite uncomfortable. This boot enables him to walk in comfort with almost a normal gait. I am purchasing a second boot because, after six foot surgeries, he has worn the first one out. We heartily recommend this boot. You will not be sorry you bought it.
1) It doesn't come in right or left, which means it can't have proper arch support, since human arches are on opposite sides of each foot. Can you imagine buying a normal shoe that doesn't come in right and left sides ?
2) The uprights are adjusted using an Allen wrench, and you must rip out a glued-down piece of foam to access them. This can cause the foam to rip.
3) There are exposed metal rivets on the outside on both sides that tear into the other ankle when you walk normally.
4) There is no toe protection, so be prepared to stub your toes constantly.
5) There is an extension behind the rear of the ankle which makes for a major trip hazard.
6) It's too high, making that foot much higher than the other foot, causing the patient to be rather unbalanced.
7) It's damn near impossible to get it on right. Two nurses and a doctor weren't able to get it on properly.
8) It's rounded on the bottom from front to back, which makes it far less stable than if it had been flat.
We are returning this product, as we wouldn't even want it for free.
