Safety 1st Soothing Mist Ultrasonic Humidifier, Pink

Safety 1st Soothing Mist Ultrasonic Humidifier, PinkUltrasonic emitter melted after 5 months of use. I originally reported to the company that black ring paint was chipping off. They never sent me an e-mail to send them the pictures I took. So a couple of week later the blue one (we had a pink one as well) the emitter melted through the housing and started to burn my carpet in my son's room. When I went in there to wake him up I was like WTF was that!? The plastic fumes was all over the room who knows what kind of long term cancer this is going to give him. I called and sent emails to safety 1st and it took them 36 hours to make contact after I spoke to two from their customer service. Now I have to send both of the defective products back before they will issue me a check for a refund. I also have to get THREE estimates for my carpet replacement before they will even pay that damage. PLEASE for the love of GOD do not buy this item. It may not of burned my house down but it might burn yours. DO NOT BUY THIS ITEM!!! As for my son they could care less when I mention his condition they were like well I can send you a MSDS for our plastic it meets or exceed government regulation. You idiot it doesn't matter because he was breathing in it!!!

This humidfier worked for two nights and then stopped emitting vapor. A few mintues later it started to smoke. If I hadn't been awake, this thing could have burned down my house and killed my family.

I thought with a name like Safety 1st, I was actually buying something safe. I am absolutely disgusted there doesn't seem to be a good, safe, easy to clean humidifier on the market.

I bought my humidifier from Target, though, so I have nothing against Amazon.

I was a bit skeptic buying this humidifier due to mixed reviews on this site and other sites, but it was one of the cheaper ultrasonic ones, so I just went for it. I've had mine for about a week, so I can't say much about durability. It's quiet. The only noise I can hear is the dripping water sound when it condenses in the inner plastic core thing (whatever it's called). I turn mine on to about 70% full power in the evening and leave it on until morning and haven't noticed any wet spots on my floor yet. It might be because I have it on a 3ft tall stand, so the water vapor is pretty much scattered by the time it hits the floor. I'm pretty sure it might be different if I placed it on the floor at full power, but I'm not going to try that. It's actually also pretty relaxing to watch the white mist coming out of the top. From what I can tell, it also does a decent job at humidifying my medium sized bedroom, according to my indoor humidity sensor.

I picked one of these up for my baby's nursery. The price was inexpensive for an ultrasonic humidifier. It was quiet and produced visible mist so I knew it was working. I liked that the spray nozzle could split to direct mist in two directions at once. I Accidentally forgot to turn it off one morning, the tank emptied and the round metal disc in the base water resivoir got so hot it melted the surrounding black rubber, then melted away the plastic holding it secure. It dropped to the bottom of the base and melted away the base and shriveled the safety first safety inspection sticker and serial number /model number sticker on the bottom of the base which i find rather ironic. Had I not caught that it was on and empty, it could have caused a fire. I do not recommend this device at all. It certainly is not safe.

We had this unit in between our twin girls cribs. Smelled a horrible electric burning smell the other night. Went into the nursery and it was smoking! Scared the heck out of us. We need to find something safe but there aren't a lot of options out there. :(
