The American Diagnostic Corporation 342 Velcro leg tourniquet is not an effective tourniquet to stop severe life threatening hemorrhaging due to traumatic injuries from gunshot wounds, improvised explosive devices, edged weapons and other forms of trauma. The way this tourniquet is designed it will not be possible to tighten enough to stop severe bleeding. The description states that this tourniquet is for "first aid use" but this is not an emergency tourniquet. At best this tourniquet would only be effective to draw blood preferably in a clinical setting. If you are looking for an effective combat proven tourniquet then go with the Combat Application Tourniquet (C-A-T).

Overall, the American Diagnostic Corporation Velcro leg tourniquet is a gimmick that I would not count on to save your life if you have a severe hemorrhage. Don't waste your money on this tourniquet and instead invest in a Combat Application Tourniquet that actually works.

This tourniquet is supposedly big enough for a thigh, yet it barely fits around my calf. It's not even stretchy enough to constrict an arm properly. Forget about buying this. The instructions also talk about wrapping it around your 'thumb', meaning wherever this came from in China has no clue what they're doing.

This product is supposed to be an adult size and wouldn't fit over my thin petite friend with all my might to save her life. By the time we gave up she had a rubber burn on her leg. It's going to cost me more to ship it back for a refund so I'm batting zero. Seriously, just keep a belt handy in case of an emergency. That's what I'm planning to do. This page should have given exact length of product. I was having a little too much faith. My bad.

I read the previous three reviews and had to chime in. We use these in our clinic...for drawing blood or starting IVs and they work well. I don't believe they were made to act as a tourniquet to stop arterial bleeding. Some hints on why I think that: 1.) the standard for an arterial bleed tourniquet is 2 inches wide and this isn't that. 2.) a trauma tourniquet would need to be able to be "locked down" which velcro isn't capable of. These two characteristics mean that you wouldn't be able to apply and get the necessary pressure to accomplish your goal of stopping the blood loss.
I just wanted to clarify this before people buy blue, velcroed rubber thinking it's going to help in a serious arterial bleed. THIS IS NOT AN EMERGENCY USE TOURNIQUET!!
I would also seriously recommend taking a first aid class or at least becoming familiar with emergency techniques if you truly believe this product was designed to stop arterial blood flow. This kind of ignorance could be fatal, despite your best intentions and desire to be helpful.
I have to use tape and gauze every single day for a skin disease, and so I needed tape that wouldn't tear off my skin or irritate it (like most tape does for some reason). This tape does not irritate or rip at my skin at all, which is great, but it also has a VERY hard time staying stuck. I have the tape in areas that move a lot, so that might be part of it, but overall I was really dissatisfied with how often the tape would "unstick" and get all bunched up under my clothes.
