As I have shared in many of my other reviews, I have been slowly been building a bug out bag for emergency situations. Obviously medical supplies is a necessity for any emergency kit so I have been looking for a lightweight, comprehensive medical kit to put in my pack. This particular kit caught my eye because of its light weight (only 15 oz.) and compactness so it can easily be packed along all my other gear. When it arrived I was pleased with the build of the carrying case, it was pliable but seemed well built. Opening up the kit I was impressed with how it was packaged. On one side you have labeled zipper pouches containing wound/burn/blister/sprain materials and on the other side pouches for bandages/medical tools/medical information. The little booklet that comes within the kit is wonderful, it contains a comprehensive set of rules and information about how to deal with any type of situation (from choking to wound irrigation to splints etc.) but what really impressed me was the little inserted guidelines that showed you how to deal with these situations on the spot with no medical supplies and only basic tools (knife, shirt, etc.) so that you will still be covered if you are without a kit or without some of the necessary supplies.
There is a larger kit made by the same company called the weekender kit (Adventure Medical Kits Weekender Kit) that comes with more gear and such in it and I would advise you to give it a look over as well, but I wanted something smaller and more compact to use in my bag.
Also, I would suggest supplementing this kit by adding a 25 g and 50 g quickclot packs (QuikClot Sport Regular 25G by Adventure Medical Kits and Quikclot Sport Brand Advanced Clotting Sponge ,Stop Bleeding Fast, 50 Gram Package) or CELOX First Aid (CELOX First Aid Temporary Traumatic Wound Treatment 2g, 10-Pack and CELOX First Aid Temporary Traumatic Wound Treatment 25g.) for controlling heavy bleeding, these hemostatic products are a wonderful addition for any medical kit. Also, maybe think about a suturing kit as well for wound closure so you ware not only relying on closing strips for wound closure.
This kit provides a nice comprehensive set up for grab and go medical supplies for either the hiking enthusiast or for someone looking for a compact kit to throw in an emergency bag.

So I just got back from a 9 mile hike in the rockies and this kit worked out perfectly. Thankfully, i didn't have to use it but its light-weight and small size made it quite easy to carry up to the continental divide.It has everything you need for a a day hike and any unforeseen mishaps. With this kit, you can travel with confidence knowing you have the tools at your disposal incase there is an injury on the trail.
I would recommend this for day hikes.

Great first aid kit for kids! I must say the Latex-free fun animal shaped bandages are cute & stay on well. Of course my son hates getting Boo-Boos but always enjoys picking out his fun animal bandages which keeps his mind off of his booboo. The "Boo-Boo Juice" (foam wound cleanser) and Antiseptic cleansing wipes are sting-free which makes cleaning the wound so much easier.On top of giving him a fun bandage, he gets a bravery sticker and mom gets an appreciation sticker. It also comes with Antibiotic cream packets, Cold pack, 72" Gauze roll, Gauze pads, Tweezers, a Toy stethoscope and the case is really cute. LOVE IT!!!
I, however, am totally disappointed.

May 2nd, 2012:Like the 1 star reviewer, I also mistakenly received the mini version. I purchased 2 of this kit from amazon seller Moore86 (Moore for less) and received 2 miniatures today. When I emailed them and pointed out their mistake (which was clear to me since I had ordered the larger kit in the past from amazon, same page, same product) they were extremely prompt in responding and very polite, and refunded my money just a few hours later. They also let me keep the small kits at no charge.
The miniature version is easy to tell from the real thing. It is less than 1/5 of this kit. It treats around 52 cuts (and says so on the back), while this one treats 256. The small kit of course has none of the extras that make the kit fun (like the "booboo juice" that kids love, or the toy stethoscope to provide destraction). I'm glad to have the small kits to put in my purse, but annoyed at the long process to get the real kits, so overall my experience is a wash. Regardless, I am grateful I do not need to return the small kits and impressed with the seller. They dealt with their mistake beautifully, and I would shop with them again.
Another key to telling the kits apart is the smaller kit does not have the word "bravery" in it--instead it says "family kit."
The kit itself, the real "bravery" one, I used for the past two years and finally need to replace it as many pieces are used up, missing or out of date. I would give it a solid five stars for use with kids, just because it provides distraction and a bit of fun when they feel like crying, and they come to trust that the "booboo juice" doesn't hurt (and I am happy with it because it makes it easy to clean scraped knees when we are not near a sink). Based on the reviews, it is actually getting the kit that is the problem. I'm going to try to buy it again today with two new (and different) vendors and I will update my review when they arrive.

I received my order, one from "eyesacrosstexas" and one from "A Second Read." Both are the miniature, 52 boo-boo kits as well. I emailed both of the sellers, and they emailed me back today and promised to issue a refund through amazon payments, and they both let me keep the small kit. They were both really nice sellers and fast responders.
I ordered two kits for a third time, hopefully the final time, from "Merchandise 4 Less." In order to avoid the entire process again, as soon as I placed my order I emailed them and asked them to check their inventory to ensure that they are shipping the right product. Their response was prompt and reassuring, and they said, "Our kit is the real thing, exactly as described, stethoscope and all, treats over 265 boo-boos. It comes shrink wrapped from the manufacturer, unopened and never tampered with. You have come to the right place."
I highly recommend this kit, but I also recommend contacting the seller as soon as you place your order to ensure that it is indeed the "bravery" kit that treats 256 injuries.
Getting two of these kits was almost more trouble than it was worth, but hopefully my persistence straightens the issue out for other customers. In the end, all the sellers were very nice and I got four free miniature kits for my trouble, so I can't complain! :)

While this was a VERY FAST reasonable Item, I would not hesitate completely from getting products from them, the bottom line is they were packed and shipped poorly.The card board box they came in was squished flat and masked were flattened into a priority box for shipping which means the box was opened and masked were only protected by outter container.
This intern means that there was no air tight seal, no plastic covering no solid debris barrier. If the guy next door shipped alligator guts or powdered cement, they easily could have leaked onto box and into container.
We ALL have recieved damaged packages in the mail, my favorite has always been the beef blood covered ones, and all packages are subject to government testing for anthrax.
So what would make one think a flattend open box stuffed into another closed but not air tight cardboard box would deliver a clean free package???
Not something I would use in surgery and not something I am thrilled with, but when its the fastest thing you can get and they by far were, you take your risks.
if they had stuffed them at least in a ziplock bag or double zipplocked bagged them, then we would be ok.

An excellent choice for those who wish to carry a CPR face shield mask wherever they go. It's relatively small, can attach to your keychain, and has a one way valve which prevents vomitus, etc. from entering your mouth. There are other CPR masks available; go to to view all the different types. In general, the bigger the mask, the more effective it is. It all depends on what you're willing to carry.
I would definitely recommend this product to a friend!

The only thing wrong with this is how easily the paint comes off. If I could give the product 4.5 stars it would be more more appropriate. Others complain about the size but let me say 2 things about that. 1st, how small do you think an effective barrier can get? 2nd, in an emergency, you want it to be able to locate the thing & open it. If it were much smaller, those things would be harder. The real reason to have this is for that potential emergency, which is what brings me back to the half star ding about the paint. I know what this is and many others might too, but for those who don't who might hesitate to give rescue breaths for lack of a barrier, should know that protection is inside this little box. It doesn't need to be instructions. Nobody is reading instructions in an emergency.
