Aveeno 1% Hydrocortisone Anti-Itch Cream, Maximum Strength, 1-Ounce Tube

Aveeno Anti-Itch Cream, 1% Hydrocortisone, Maximum Strength, 1 OunceThis cream is great, I had a type of heat rash on the inside of my thighs for months that would not go away even though I was using Cortizone 10 Maximum Strength on it daily, which actually made it worse! I was losing sleep and was completely miserable because it was very uncomfortable to walk for extended periods of time.

After a couple of weeks I decided to try a different cream and Aveeno was much, much better on it. The relief was almost instant and it lasts for hours, the cream is odorless, non greasy and absorbs into the skin quickly and doesn't rub on to parts of the body you don't want it to.

Following this up with Lubriderm Advanced Therapy lotion the rash which I'd had for months was cleared up in days, it was such a relief to finally find something that worked as advertised. Highly recommend it!

The cream is clean and the consistences of the cream was smooth. Absorbs into the skin well, Odor free, very reliving, and the tubes are in a travel friendly size!

I use a lot of Aveeno products and when looking for Hydrocortisone was pleased to discover that they make this too.

The cream is nice and thick.

Has absolutely no weird smell, nor irritating fragrance smell.

I used it for my baby's eczema he had a moderate case on his arms and regular moisntirazing lotions would not do. I applied this product for 4 nights and already see a huge improvement in the skin's irritation and dryness.

Not seeing any adverse reactions. No more itchy skin happy baby!

Trying to use a more "all natural" approach to skin care, I used some rosehip seed oil instead of my usual night-time moisturizer. Well, I am apparently allergic to rosehip seed oil because I broke out in a horrible rash (allergic contact dermatitis = swelling, redness, itching, hives/pustules) all over my face and eyes. Even though I had stopped using the RH oil, the rash continued to get worse and worse, so I finally went to the doctor and he gave me a 5-day Rx for Prednisone. It greatly improved the rash, but it didn't take it away completely. So, I called my doc again and he said there was nothing more he could do except refer me to a dermatologist. His nurse made me an appointment for over a month from now. I'd already been suffering with this rash for over a month and didn't want to suffer through another one. So after reading several reviews, I decided to try this product. I bought it last night and used it before I went to bed. I woke up this morning and it's almost completely healed. I wish I would have done this sooner, but I know that putting a steroid on facial skin is frowned upon because it can cause damage. I put a bit more on this morning when I woke up, along with some Aveeno Daily Body Lotion to help with the dryness caused by the rash, but I only plan to use it one more time tonight. I will update this post if things take a turn for the worse, but if as of right now, I'm very satisfied with this product.

Hydrocortisone is a very effective anti-itch cream because it is a very light steroid. It is great for bodily use. I had a doctor tell me I could use it on more sensitive areas of the body such as above my eyes. Do not do this. I repeat, Hydrocortisone is a light steroid and could potentially thin your skin as I later found out. Make sure you only use it on your body, never the face or more delicate areas. Other than that, great product.

Graco Nasal Clear Nasal Aspirator

Graco Nasal Clear Nasal AspiratorSo the first thing I can say about this product is that is really does help decrease if not completely abolish the crying and fighting of a small baby when it's time to suction their nose. It's a continuous gentle suction so it seems to not feel so intrusive. The music is kind of loud, but if you put your finger over the small speaker it helps diffuse it a bit. It probably isn't so bad for an older baby. When my son got sick he was just barely two months old so it was still a bit loud for his ears. Now for the suction itself, it's effective for thin secretions of mucous, not so much for anything thicker than that. It worked well in combination with the bulb aspirator. I thought I would be able to throw that thing out...but not the case. It seems like it would be a good product for a cold with a continually runny nose, or just looser mucous. It's not really great for use on more congested noses because it's gentle suction is just not enough. Clean up is gross but easy! I think people have said you can run the pieces in the dishwasher however, I just clean the pieces out with hot soapy water and a small bottle nipple brush. It has a great little storage drawstring bag and two differently shaped nasal pieces. Overall I think it's a useful product for certain types of mucous. It's definitely worth the cease in suction session battles when the mucous is a prime candidate for it.

So the bottom line: Is it a must-have? No, I don't think it's more effective than the bulb. Is it nice to have? Yes, I don't mind having it to resort to for certain types of colds in addition to baby being okay with having it in his nose. Should you buy it? Depends on how much you need your twenty bucks. Lastly, clean up is probably more sanitary because of the pieces pulling apart, but it is definitely something you want to clean as soon as your done using it.

Our daughter was constantly getting a cold in the winter, so we were endlessly having to clear out her nose, which she hated. We would rinse out the bulb aspirator after each use, but when I got a whiff of the inside of that thing one day, I nearly puked!

One day I found this inexpensive option at Wal-Mart. The first few times, she was unsure, but once she saw how it made her feel, she truly doesn't mind it. I wasn't totally impressed at first because I just felt like it wasn't sucking enough. But when my husband read the directions, it tells you sometimes, if the mucus is thick, you need to suck in a little water in between suctions. When you do that, it works perfectly! As gross as it is, the water flushes out the loose boogers and they go straight to the clear cup.

We loove this gagdet, and I suggest all the people who complain about the suction try using the water!

When I read the description for this, it said that this aspirator was safe for infants and I wondered whether it would be strong enough for my son, who is a few months from age 3. It does have pretty good suction and works well, even on a toddler. There are 2 tips and the larger tip fits him and I think would still fit him when he's years older. The music function didn't work at first, but it just started working after a few uses although that function doesn't really interest me.

As an infant, my son was in the hospital and they had this great aspirator that attached to suction coming from the wall. I wanted something like that but I was wary of those suction devices that work with your vacuum cleaner just too noisy and risky to me. So this was the only other option I could find and I couldn't find any reviews for it. But I got it anyway and I'm happy with it. It is easy to clean and removes snot well. I would recommend anyone using this on their child to use saline drops first to loosen the mucus...otherwise the constant suction on something that has thickened would probably be painful for your kid. The saline also makes it a lot easier to remove the mucus. I think if you think the suction isn't strong enough, you should use some saline and then the stuff should come out.

It does have a little noise with it which infants might not like, but maybe the music helps with that. It sounds kind of like a vibrating cell phone. My son isn't bothered by it and even likes using it at times. I don't think it removes stuff that you couldn't already get with a traditional nose sucker though, it just is faster you don't have to keep sucking and squirting like you do with a regular sucker.

One thing I've found after using this for a few months is that if there is a period when you have to use it frequently (your child has a cold or flu), you will find that you need to change the batteries after several days (say, a week or so). The suction power does decrease with use, so to get good suction a fresh set of batteries helps.

Wish the hospital would have supplied us with this little gem instead of the bulb. Our daughter picked up a cold at Christmas then developed an inner ear infection that we could not get rid of. We had to use the bulb aspirator regularly for the past months, which she hated. She ended up with ear tubes, but now the fluid is draining. We opened the musical snot sucker package today and she actually giggled when we aspirated her nose. It has amazing suction too.

What a waste of time and money! My son has been congested for a week now and I am dying for anything to help him breathe better and eat better, as nursing as very challenging when a baby cannot keep suction due to a stuffy nose. We got this product home popped in brand new batteries, put saline drops in his nose to loosen the mucus and tried it out, this thing was worthless...it couldn't even get the bats hanging out in the front of the cave, needless to say it didn't clear any snot from his sinuses. The only thing this aspirator managed to suck, was money out of my wallet, I wish I could give this zero stars. Worthless!

Cortizone 10 Hydrocortisone Anti-Itch Liquid Easy Relief Applicator -- 1.25 fl oz

Cortizone 10 Hydrocortisone Anti-Itch Liquid Easy Relief Applicator -- 1.25 fl ozI bought this as a companion product for the Cortisone 10 Intense Healing for Eczema product, which is amazing for mild to moderate eczema and sebhorric dermatitus (pardon my spelling)

This is a 1% concentration of Hydrocortisone, which is the same concentration as most hydrocortisone cream and ointments. It comes with a handy foam sponge applicator (think of a foam bingo marker) that can be kept in a pocket or bag, and is nice and compact for your travelling first aid kit.

I have sensitive skin with dishydrotic dermatitis on my hands and feet, and mild to moderate eczema on my inner arms and lower legs. I also will break out in hives along my hairline on my face for a myriad of reasons. This does a great job of calming the itch of the hives and the itch on my arms and legs. Note that hydrocortisone will thin your skin and you should make sure to use plenty of sunscreen if you are using these products to keep from excessive sun damage. You should also not use this stuff a lot, the instructions say 3-4 times a day, but on your sensitive facial skin, you may want to consider even less (consult your physician)

I love this stuff, and it helps a very sensitive situation.

This is very convenient for camping. I keep it in my camping stuff to wipe on bugbites and irritation, and for that it works fairly well. But it seems like it works no better than my 5% cream version from the same company..

Tender Fresh Bath Wipes Travel Size (8), (Pack of 3)

Tender Fresh Bath Wipes Travel Size,Ordered these for a trip on the California Zephyr(Amtrak) from Chicago to Emeryville. 3 days each way on board a train. These worked perfectly for cleaning myself and my butt. The resealable sticker held up for the whole trip keeping all the wipes moist and clean. The bathrooms had disposal bins for diapers so I just tossed this in with those. The wipes themselves are very thick and not a single one tore on me. Highly recommend these for long journeys on a train.

There is a time and a place for everything and this is one of those products. For you, me, the cat or the dog anything can happen and if you have something like this handy, no matter where you are, well, that's half the battle. Wet, a bit thicker than a baby wipe, it's convenient to have. it can be a life saver.

Diabetic Medical Id Jewelry Necklace

Diabetic Medical Id Jewelry NecklaceFolks come on my Grandmother always told me you get what you pay for, what did you expect for under five dollars. I too ordered one, not the greatest, but I expected that because of what I paid for it, I am not going to be shocked or surprised when the emblem breaks, or you can't read what it says on the back. I did not buy it to impress anyone. I just want the authorities to know that I am a diabetic, if I can't tell them myself. My main gripe with this company, is that the item was backordered, and no one told me, so after about three weeks or so after the due date I became concerned (NOT TOO CONCERNED ONLY 5 BUCKS), but none the less they told me "OH YEAH THAT HAS BEEN OUT OF STOCK ON BACK ORDER WE SHOULD BE GETTING THEM IN SHORTLY" It would have been nice to know this before I became worried.....Bottom line you get what you pay for..............

The medalion is pretty basic and standard, but they didn't put a clasp in the chain, and after a few weeks the chain broke.

Nexcare Opticlude Orthoptic Eye Patches, Junior Size, 20-Count Boxes (Pack of 4)

Nexcare Opticlude Orthoptic Eye Patches, Junior Size, 20-Count BoxesMy 3 year old has been tasked to have this patch for 3 hours a day. It stayed good for the period we needed. Even when cried it did not get really bad. But, we make sure that he does not cry when the patch is on. While peeling off if you are too quick or aggressive, little one develops rash otherwise no signs of wear at all. I am glad I purchased this from AMAZON not the regular size from walmart and other stores. Hope this review helps and good luck with your little ones.

My daughter has a lazy eye in her left. She wears the eye patch everyday for 6 hrs. It is somewhat sticky for everyday patching.

Before wearing, you can stick it to your arm and detach it and then use it. It is much better.

Overall, I am satisfied with the quality.

We've tried many brands, colors, and sizes of eye patches, and this one is the best one for our 3 year old. The material "breathes," so sweat and tears don't pool up in the eye patch. It sticks to the skin well without leaving red marks or pulling out eyebrow hairs. But, it is also easy enough for my 3 year old to remove by himself.

Don't waste your money on the coverlets (the fabric doesn't breathe and they stick to the skin too much) or the ortopads (they have cool designs, but they don't stick to the skin). Go with the nexcares!

We have purchased the Nexcare brand Opticlude patches for a little over 2 years now. Our daughter has sensative skin and had developed a rash with other brands. This brand works well for her and doesn't leave the sticky residue from the patches. The price for these patches are great through Amazon versus buying one box in the store. I would recommend these patches for children.

We've tried various eye-patches for our daughter, who has to wear the patches since the age of 2.

They are great, don't hurt when taking off.

Only thing to consider is that when it gets wet, it sticks more and then it might be a bit painful to take off.

AMK - Quikclot Sport Pack

Quikclot Sport Brand Advanced Clotting Sponge ,Stop Bleeding Fast, 50 Gram PackageWhen a fellow backpacker slipped while carrying his pack saw, he cut his upper thigh pretty badly. Although no major vessels were involved, the wound bled profusely. This QuikClot product was applied to the wound with direct pressure and then bound in place. While the wound was not extraordinarily severe, the injured man was quite upset by the amount of blood he appeared to be losing prior to application of the dressing. Once the QuikClot product was in place and a thick sterile pad secured over it, only a small amount of blood was visible. This added tremendously to reassure the injured man that he was not in great danger from bleeding. Others in our party assisted the man back to the trail head and he was taken to a local hospital where the laceration was sutured.

This product is an absolute 'must have' item in any aid kit for people working or enjoying the out of doors in locations distant from immediate medical care. This order was a replacement for the product I used. As an aside recommendation, QuikClot Sport is very effective when used in conjunction with an 'Israeli-style' combat dressing (easily applied by one person or the injured victim).

This review is based on 1st hand experience (unfortunately).

I awoke one morning to a frantic knock on the bathroom door saying someone cut their finger badly. I hustled out of the shower & went down to the kitchen to see what was going on. To my surprise, it wasn't a cut -but rather an amputation of 1 & 1/2 finger tips. A kitchen towel was wrapped around the hand, but the blood was easily soaking the towel & running down their arm. I ran to get a pack that was in my gun bag & a second one in my diaper bag. By the time I got back (which wasn't more than a minute or so) the kitchen towel had been swapped out & a huge wad of gauze bandage was now dripping red. I told the victim to press the quikclot on & don't remove it for any reason. Within 30 seconds, the bleeding had stopped... period. There was no more bleeding until we got to the ER & the quikclot was removed by the doctor. At that point, it bled profusely again because the cut had knicked an artery.

Needless to say, I'm impressed by this product & have urged everyone I know to keep a few around! I now keep one in every vehicle, first aid kit & "high risk" activity bag.

My only complaints: they are rather pricey (for "what ifs") & a single small pack is really not enough. The small size really limits the types & sizes of injuries that the quikclot can be applied to.

All in all -every household should have at least a couple on hand. For the price of a few beers or coffees, you could save someone's life. Buy it.

My 73 year old Father slipped while field dressing an elk. His knife went into his leg and nicked his femoral artery. 40 miles from anything, and a spurting wound. We applied a Quick Clot sponge, and he's still with us. One and a half hours later we got him to the ER. The doctor said it absolutely saved his life. I still have my Dad because of this product. I can't imagine a better outcome, because of Quick Clot.

Read Best Reviews of AMK - Quikclot Sport Pack Here

Quick clot is a natural enzyme that starts the blod clotting process in the body. Our bodies have small amounts of it that are there naturally, except for hemophiliacs. Quick clot is simply concentrated to a high level like vitamin supplements.

The US Army & Marines have chosen quick clot to stop battlefield bleeding and loss of blood volume and pressure. If it's good enough for the government, and been extensively tested by them then its ready to go for me. It's a natural product that does the job without nasty chemicals.

You should also have a roll of gauze to go with the quick clot to hold it in place. Pressure is an important part of stopping bleeding but all you get in the package is a 5x5" square that is embedded with crystals of the quick clot agent once they get bloody and wet they go to work right away promoting clotting. You need gause to hold the quick clot in place over the wound especially during the first 10 minutes (the clot will form in 5 minutes based on medical testing on the femeral artery being sliced open to insert a port to run a catheter up to the heart. The quick clot is put over the hole in the artery and held in place for 5 minutes, then removed with a nice clot formed over the artery. Keep in mind the arteries have the higher pressure and are harder to stop bleeding because they are high pressure blood vessels.

Finally, it's been shown that an individual can apply and secure a quick clot bandage by themselves, effectively self-treating a major blead without outside help. That's impressive, and that's why the quick clot and the gause roll are the first two items in my medical kit when I am out in no mands land.

It comes in 25g and 50g sizes, the 50g is a better deal and bigger. Get this one.

Not my first choice for topical hemostatic product.

Work at a place that stocks these and used them several times.

IMHO...

Works moderately well if that. But there's better stuff out there. Step up to a 2nd or third generation product.

Quick clot is essentially a mineral powder. First gen of product caused too much burning and got gravely mess in wounds that could cause clots (like intravascular bad ones.) But now they've solved those problems (so that's good) by reducing the heat and putting it in a tea bag... Problem is it doesn't seem to work very well on big bleeds, and the bag kinda limits the use. You have to get the bag onto the actual wound, if you have an avulsed scalp lac it's hard to pack it all the way up there, and if you open the bag (not recommended) the gravely stuff will be imbedded in the wound. Plus if I use this on myself (possible) then I have to really stuff the tea bag (ouch) into a fresh wound. I still have a couple lying around, they're cheap and plentiful and we still have them at work but they're not my first go-to item (even as last resort.)

Since I've used a couple of the Chitosan based products with better results. IMHO I think studies show they have better results, seem to have the mechanism of action that I think is better and doesn't have the clots or gravel issue.

Also I tend to go a bigger size. We've stocked one of these sponges in a kit for awhile and they seem too small for really big stuff and un-needed for small stuff.

So whatever you buy (quick clot or other) think of this... If the cut is small enough for the littlest version of the product to treat did it need it anyway? And will that littlest bag of hemostatic work on the biggest thing you really need it for?

(And again just imho, I stock 2 packets of 30g Cellox powder in my hip bag. After seeing accidents like Circ-saw to leg, skill saw to arms or hands, axe slipped into foot, knife wounds both slashing and penetrating, guardrail at speed to abdomen and leg, car window through hand and arm, fall through glass and arterial bleeds to arms, chainsaw injury etc... I want my stuff big, fast and easy; a CAT tourniquet, a couple rolled gauze, a big packet of hemostatic (either rolled gauze or powder), and tape.)
