On the Tuesday before last, I suddenly developed a nosebleed. And while in my youth I had many nosebleeds and knew how to handle them this one was different because I am now taking xarelto, an anti-coagulant which performs the same function as warfarin. So whereas using the usual pressure tricks of squeezing the nostrils or of pushing a folded-up paper towel pressed up between my upper lip and gum would quickly stop earlier nosebleeds, they did nothing with the xarelto in my system. And after holding off from dialing 911 for 30 minutes I finally gave in when the blood was overfowing into my throat to the point where I began to choke.
The paramedics arrived with a plastic clamp which was like a super clothes-pin. It stopped the flow and I decided to waive them off from taking me to the ER as they said it would stop the flow if I left it in place for 15 minutes. But when I removed it at 20 minutes, it began to flow again. Leaving it on for an hour left my blood STILL ready to flow. Finally, after leaving it on for 2 increasingly painful hours i was able at 3AM to remove the clamp and gingerly slide into bed.

I bought this for my elderly mother who has frequent nosebleeds because of long term Coumadin (blood thinner) use. One time in the emergency room they used a similar product and it worked well so they suggested that I buy this because it is available over the counter without a prescription and it is safe for the elderly and for people on Coumadin. I also checked with her doctor before purchasing.
My mother has used it twice at home and it works well. It does burn when you first apply the powder to your nose but she has had good results both times and she says the burning sensation does not last long and the result is worth the temporary burning. Very easy to use and it comes in individual packets so you can have one with you at all times.
I give it 4 stars because it should always be bought with caution, knowing the individual's own health history but for temporary and fast relief it seems to work well.

My Father gets severe nose bleeds and this stuff really works! I bought one for him to test and bought another product and he said he wanted more of this product.
The box this came in has been opened ten minutes....the liner with the pockets is easily removed, but several of the dividers are torn. This bag is literally a shell that you arrange the pockets in; everything is a cheap velco pull out. As of this writing, I need to get the bag in use, but I will never buy this type of bag again. I won't knock BP for other things, but for this specific bag, it's junk. All of the dividers came flat, so you have to pull apart all the velcro pieces to arrange them the way you want. The pro's of this are, you can clean the bag easier, and make the pockets the way you want. The con's are, everything will easily fall out, the pockets won't really be the way you want them, and the material is thin. For a jump bag that is seldom used, this might work, but really, a few extra dollars spent on a better bag is worth the piece of mind. Good carry bags (i.e. for photography, military, EMS, etc.) cost more money for a reason, and while this specific bag can flex a little with the needed, it's not in hindsight worth it. If you are an EMT of any level, get a better quality bag. $30+ dollars spent twice meant one could have bought a better bag right away, and avoid the hassles of how a cheap bag will fall apart.
