Doctor's Choice Slow Healing Open Wound Bandages 8 ea

I fell down and ended up with a 1/4" chunk of gravel in my knee. After digging the gravel out, I called my doctor to see if I needed to see him for any specialized treatment (such as checking for more gravel, or a more thorough cleansing than I was able to do). He said he would've done the same thing I already did, and to cover it to prevent infection, and then he told me what signs to look for (for serious infection). Things like fever, being impossible to walk, green drainage. I never got any of those symptoms, but the sore just wasn't healing properly.

Then I bought several boxes of these bandages -the shipping on several boxes was the same as with one box, and now I have more for emergencies. After I started using these, the sore where I had dug out the gravel finally started healing, and the clear drainage lessened with each day. After just a day, the hole in my knee is about half its original size (1/8" vs. the original 1/4"), and there is very little drainage building up.

I'm sure by now you're asking yourself, "Okay, if she liked it so much, why did she mark it down a star?" I marked it down a star because the inadequate directions caused me to waste one bandage. Normally, that wouldn't be a big deal, but these bandages cost me more than $1.50 for each one! What the directions should have said was that between the two protective backing papers that cover the colloidal pad, there is another piece of very stiff paper that also needs to be removed. I didn't notice the stiffness until after I had applied the bandage, and of course, since I didn't remove that extra piece of paper, the colloidal pad couldn't work its miracle. I called the company to see whether the paper was supposed to be removed. To the company's credit, the person who talked to me was their president. She said they hadn't updated the instructions yet because they had just barely changed the bandages to include the extra piece of paper (presumably to keep the colloidal pad moist). I was impressed that the president of the company actually answers questions about the products she develops herself. I wasn't so impressed that she didn't offer to at least refund enough of my purchase price to pay for that one bandage (because her company started selling the updated product without putting an updated instruction sheet in the box).

Will I buy the product again? Yes. Will I recommend it? Only if the buyer already knows that the extra piece of paper needs to be removed (which, if you've read this far into my review, you already know).

Oh, one more thing... You may notice that you can buy these bandages in an 8-pack or a 10-pack. The price for both is the same, but the product description doesn't say why (at least not on Amazon). So I went to the Marketplace sellers direct website (drugstore.com). I learned that the 8-pack has colloidal pads on the bandages, and the 10-pack bandages have gauze pads. Neither type of pad is better than the other, but they each have applications at which they excel. For instance, the gauge bandage is better at absorbing excess drainage. I used the bandages with gauze pads for the first week after my injury. Then when my drainage from my wound had slowed down to the point that it was no longer causing my entire knew to swell up, I switched to the colloidal pads.

I live with several cats (can you say crazy cat lady?). Two of my rescue cats have FIV and one of them, possibly because of his compromised immune system, has the constant problem of a recurring sore or wound on the top of one of his front paws. It will scab over and dry up a bit but will not go away and eventually it will open up and start bleeding again. DKL1212 - Sterile Gauze Pads, 2x2, 12 Ply, 100/BX, White

A very poor product. Gauze pads are extremely thin and non-absorbent. It's easy to understand why the price is so low. However the product is not worth the cost no matter how low.

These gauze squares were pathetic. They were so thin, that one had to use 3 of them to one of a J & J square.

It takes 6 of these little buggers to equal one of any major brand gauze. Even that is not the last of the problem. The material is so rough they should be used for sandpapering furniture.

Although there were 12 layers (similar to the items sold in the retail drug stores) of gauze in each pad, the individual stands in each layer were so far apart that it took more than 6 pads to make up the thickness of one sterile gauze pad that i would normally use. Yet the price I paid for each pad was not much less than what I would normally pay at the drug store.

I ordered this product not really expecting much, but for the price I figured I didn't have much to lose. I get fever blisters on the corner of my mouth and have for years. I bought this product to help control acne. I just mixed it with some water and apply it to my face nightly. I've been using it for a couple of weeks and its been working well so far. Works well for treating acne. Just apply it over the pimple and its surrounding area with Q-tip. One time I see the result within a couple of hours. Most times the pimple gets smaller the next day. It does have a strong natural smell though.

This is another product I have chosen for my bug out bag. My wife and I have been in the medical field for over 30 years, and when we decided to put together a first aid kit, we decided that using a suture kit might cause more trauma that fixing. Steri strips are used in emergency rooms and even surgically for closing wounds. Yes there are times when sutures are more appropriate, but most people wouldn't have a clue how to properly use them. I might eventually get a suture kit, but for now I will use this 3m product.

I broke my arm and had to have an external stabelizer with four rods going through the skin into my arm. The rods caused the skin to tear. I used these narrow strips to prevent the tearing of the skin around the rods. The strips were very effective for this purpose.

These arrived on time and in good condition. They work well in dry areas on the skin. In any area that is moist, they let go and fall off. I augmented their attachment with a liquid bandage product. I put the liquid bandage on then the steri strip then some liquid bandage. I did not let the liquid bandage get too close to the wound and you have to be careful if the skin is thin or sensitive to the liquid bandage, if it is then just use the steri strips by them selves. Additionally, watch that tape from any bandaging doesn't get on the steri strip or when you change the bandage it is likely you will pull the steri strip(s) off as well.

Used these on a finger splint and had them wrapped around my finger for long periods of time.

They are strong and held up well to water, oils, rubbing, etc.

3M closure strips are the best I've tried so far and I've experimented with a bunch of brands from the local Rx stores.

These 2" Conforming Gauze Rolls adequate (good value for $) for intented use. Don't expect the conformation of bulkier/stretchier choices, but enough stretch to readily hold minor dressings. Remember, these are non-sterile and for a top layer only.

Pack of three times ten bandage rolls makes, if my cyphering is correct, 30 rolls of bandage. Each roll is something like 2.5 yards, though that fact is not printed anywhere. It's very thin and semi-elastic, so it does conform, but it's not particularly strong, and the thinness makes it kind of hard to work with. Having said that, it's adequate to the task, but I don't think I'll buy any more of it.

We use this as a top-dressing over Spenco 2nd Skin Moist Burn Pads, Medium, 25-Count to heal our son's painful (itchy, sometimes scratched bloody) eczema overnight. It holds the burn pads in place and isn't allergenic (to me) like the latex bandages we've used before.

We've gone through many boxes of this product, and it is reliable and always the same. The packaging is adequate and appropriate. Our son hates it, but his skin demands some pretty extreme measures every winter.
