18 Remedy Starter Homeopathy Kit

18 Remedy Starter Homeopathy KitThis is an excellent beginner's kit for homeopathic treatment. Often, the problem with homeopathy is simply not knowing what to have on hand. This kit solves that problem and provides some basic info on how to use the remedies. The selection is excellent will cover most first aid requirements.

This is not a kit for self-treating major illness, but for most injuries and illnesses, it's fantastic! Pop out the Arnica for bumps and bruises, and you'll be amazed at alleviation of pain and rapid healing. Bee or insect sting? Apis will ease it. Smash a finger with the terrible nerve pain that results? Hypericum will likely take most of the pain away.

The kits are made by Helios, one of the very best manufacturers of homeopathic products. This kit is a great product at a great price. Try it and you'll be delighted. (Even skeptics have had their heads turned around on experiencing homeopathy. I know I was one.)

You might consider the book, Everyday Homeopathy, by David Gemmell, for a quick reference guide to selecting remedies for first aid purposes. I've found it to be an excellent and easy to follow guide in making selections. (http://www.amazon.com/Everyday-Homoeopathy-Beaconsfield-Homeopathic-Libra/dp/0906584442/ref=sr_1_2?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1357423925&sr=1-2&keywords=gemmell+homeopathy)

For someone just beginning with homeopathy, this is a great starter because you can learn about each remedy easily so you feel confident applying the basics. I found the remedies I have used to be potent and gentle at the same time. THANK YOU!

This is a wonderful first aid kit to have on hand. I liked this kit so much and used it so often that I purchased one for my elderly parents. They travel several times a year and sometimes run into stomach upsets and and muscle strains. These remedies have helped them while traveling and at home. I have also watched the free online course that is offered with the kit and learned a great deal about homeopathy. I would recommend the course to anyone interested in learning the basics of homeopathy.

I have been using these homeopathy remedies since I became very ill with respiratory problems. I react very badly to medicine and had many side affects from the medicines the doctors wanted me to use. Also I was not getting better. So I began to work with a homeopathy and use the remedies suggested. I have not had serious respiratory ailments since then.

A few weeks ago I got a nasty attack of Athlete's Foot and came across info on the internet about treating it with Tea Tree Oil. I don't like pharmaceuticals so I'm always looking for natural alternatives. All I can say is WOW. I soaked a tissue with Tea Tree oil and wrapped my toes with it each night before going to bed. It was gone within a couple of days. Compare this with what doctors prescribe which takes weeks or months to work. All I can say is Awesome!

Organic Root Stimulator Olive Oil Replenishing Conditioner, 12.25 Ounce

Organic Root Stimulator Olive Oil Replenishing Conditioner, 12.25 OunceI have been battling dry hair off and on for a while now due to going to school in areas with very hard water, but when I moved to go to an out-of-state school (harder water, still, in Miami), my hair seemed irreparable. It was so dry that I had to completely give up blow drying, my hair was falling like crazy when I combed it because it was so brittle and no amount of oil (natural or store purchased)or moisturizing sheen seemed to help. My scalp was flaking like crazy due to all of the dryness and I couldn't find relief. I had done everything I could. I got a shower filter in hopes that that would help, but it was only a minimal difference. I used the best conditioners, like Matrix Biolage conditioning balm and even resorted to homemade treatments like avocado and banana preshampoo masks, but nothing moisturized enough. Many things would make my hair soft for a day or two, but it was still bone dry!

This is the ONLY product that actually gave me my hair back!! I can see a difference after one use and I have slip again! I combed my hair out with no tangles for once! I was able to actually do a good job on my roller wrap because my hair wasn't drying out before I could even section it off before beginning. This stuff is AMAZING! My hair was soft, smooth, and even SHINY! That's such a rarity for my dull hair color and the dryness did not help at all. Check the ingredients, it's all about the natural oils. After conditioning, your hair looks and feels like you've sprayed it with a light sheen because it's so soft and smooth. Black women, this is the difference...this is why we need products made for us and by us because many people try and just don't understand black hair needs. I'm so glad this is now sold in a full size bottle!! I was seriously considering spending $40 on Alter Ego (which IS very good shea and coconut worked wonders for me at my local salon), but now I don't need to!!

If you have fine, oily, or mix textured hair (as in you are biracial), you may want to try the pack first. This conditioner is heavily based from natural oils that will likely be too much for oilier hair types.

Con: the orange-y smell from the orange oil is a bit much (smells like orange Ozium air freshener), but somewhat refreshing at the same time, if that makes any sense at all

I'm always looking for good conditioners for my dry hair. I used this conditioner for the first time, and I can honestly say it's great. I washed my hair and applied this product and sat under my hooded dryer for 30 minutes. When I rinsed it out of my hair, my hair felt like silk. After blowdrying and flatironing my hair feels so soft. So this will now be one of my staple products. Now on the other hand, my best friend used this product and says it left her hair feeling very thick and coated. Her hair is already thick so that's the last thing she needs. Me on the other hand, I have thin hair, and strive for thickness. So obviously it works for some and not for others. But as long as they make it I'm going to continue to use it.

I can only say that this product is excellent. This is the first review that I have ever written on Amazon and it is fitting that it should go to this product. My hair is natural and gray. It was shedding everywhere. I used this product and my hair is actually soft and manageable. Let me tell you I have unruly, very dry hair. This conditioner allows me to pull a comb through my hair.

Thanks a million.

This product has definitely been a God-send for my relaxed hair. It's a protein/moisturizing mix that smells like oranges (so if you hate oranges, you might want to stay away. I will say the smell doesn't linger though.) I put some on, deep condition with a shower cap under my bonnet dryer for 15 minutes and rinse out. My hair feels amazing AND it detangle so easily.

Be aware that they rejiggered some of the ingredients recently (if you have the new designed bottle seen here, it's probably the new formula.) So you might want to purchase one of the packs before you decide to buy a bigger bottle.

I use the olive oil relaxer and always loved the replenishing pack it came with. My local target recently increased the price of the perm. Me being cheap, I decided to give another perm a try. I've used Dr. Miracles and gentle treatment with no problem, but I've always loved olive oil. The only bad experience I've ever had with another brand was with dark and lovely [gave me straw hair]. So, I go and pick up the new motions shine relaxer and give it a try. BIGGEST mistake of my life. DONT EVER USE THAT PERM!!!...My hair was dry and felt like chalky straw. I've NEVER had my hair feel like that before. I washed my hair and conditioned it with my own stuff, added deep conditioners and everything. Nothing got rid of that chalky, dry feeling. I was sooo frustrated that I was even considering chopping it off and going natural or something, and I've got pretty long hair [a little longer than bra stap length]. I decided to wait a day and buy the bottle version of the replenishing pack that was part of the olive oil relaxer. It saved the day!!!...i put it in, put a shower cap on for an hour, and it gave me my hair back. It was smooth, silky, and soft. I was scared that my hair would never gain back its integrity, but I'm SOOOO glad that they made a bottle version of this stuff. I will NEVER cheat on my olive oil perm again...its worth the extra 2 dollars..and this product is worth every penny.

I use this brief, first aid kit on my walks. It fits snuggly into my fanny pack and is lightweight. There isn't a whole lot in the kit but you get band aids and some insect swabs and other rudimentary items. It is fine for what it is and a larger, more comprehensive kit can be purchased for home use. This is fine for the car or light hiking/walking and I would imagine you could add a few things to it like aspirin for if you think you might be having a heart attack.

Super Colon Cleanse with Herbs & Acidophilus By Health Plus

Health Plus Super Colon Cleanse, Powder Laxative, 12 OuncePLEASE READ!!!! I hope people read this review before they buy!!! These pills actually work great. However, you should really only take about four pills a day. If you take the recommended dosage you will never leave the bathroom! I never take more than four pills a day and i skip a day at least once a week. Also, never take them on an empty stomach or they will make your stomach hurt. Always take them after meals. Follow this and they will work for you. They keep my system cleaned out and it's much easier for me to maintain a healthy weight. Feel free to ask me questions. BYE

I purchased this to rid my body of toxic waste build-up. I took it on a Friday night not knowing how it would effect me. After taking the first dose I got a bloated feeling but than it kicked in. I sure eliminated a lot of waste that was built up. By the time I was done I had lost 6 pounds. Think about that 6 pounds of waste built up. That was so nasty! I do not take these everyday but once a month do a good cleanse. Sometimes I do take them more often if I feel really backed up.

I have found taking garcinia cambogia helps control my appetite for greasy foods. This makes the colon cleanse less harsh. I found a good supplier for the garcinia cambogia here on Amazon. It comes with raspberry ketones which also helps control my appetite for greasy fried foods. So far so good! Fast free shipping for me and the product is the same as pictured. It calls for 4 pills 2x a day, but personally I am working up to that. Below is a continuous 'diary' of sorts that may give others insight on how to use this.

5/31/13 TEST: Took one dosage to see effects (4 pills 2x) and it was too much! Crampy, watery ick.

6/03/13 to 5/06/13: Took one dosage (4pills) with food at breakfast. Resulted in manageable bowels throughout the day, no cramps, no nasties. Will only be taking once per day instead of 2x. Will report results next week!

6/17/13: Starting to get really bad cramps when I have to go, still only on the 4 pills in the morning.

4 Shelf industrial cabinet- empty metal case w/ swing out door- 14-15/16 in. x21-7/8 in. x5-1/2 in. - 1 ea.I purchased this cabinet to store first aid supplies in one central location of the house. There is enough room for boxes of bandaids, 4X4s, Kerlix, Ice packs, Wound wash....Well, with two Kids, it gets plenty of use, and comes in real handy when one of them runs in the door with a bad case of road rash, or a bee sting or whatever else they get into. I also purchased separately the self adhesive door pocket organizer from an external site for about $6.00. This is great for storing scissors, tweezers, creams, ointments, etc.

The cabinet is constructed very well and was very easy to mount on the wall. The cabinet is white with the words "First aid" printed in large letters on the front.

I was able to remove the cardboard packaging without much effort, and added a couple of nice labels with my company logo, as well as some basic information. Customers were very pleased with these, as children always need band aids. They are small enough to fit in the glove box of a car, or in a diaper bag.

I would have liked to see more band aids in the package, but there was plenty of room to add some after the I opened the package.

BORIC ACID POWDER HUMCO 6 OZ

BORIC ACID POWDER HUMCO 6 OZRead this at your own risk. It may be a little TMI for some, but I think it's helpful information.

I'll start off by saying there's no such thing as medical grade boric acid. Boric acid is just boric acid. I saw a couple people asking whether this was "medical grade" and safe to use as an eye wash because of all the warnings on the bottle. There aren't different formulas, it is what it is. I did A LOT of reading on boric acid, including the MSDS safety sheet, and the gist of everything I read was DON'T inhale it, DON'T eat it, and DON'T use it on broken skin.

Also, try to get past the warnings. Don't ignore them completely, just remember acid isn't always a bad/scary thing. Lady parts are naturally acidic, your muscles produce lactic acid when you exercise, and your body needs amino acids to function. Boric acid is a weak acid, and is considered to be no more toxic than table salt when used topically. Just remember, even though salt is tasty and most of us would consider it harmless, it too can cause health problems or even be lethal. Think of boric acid the same way. Moderation is always key.

The first thing I used this for was to act as an emulsifier with beeswax to make some skin cream. Mission accomplished.

The next thing I used it for was a stubborn yeast infection. I had a hysterectomy 2 years ago (at the age of 27) and have been struggling with surgical menopause. This means I'm in hormone Hades, with stubborn weight gain and severe hot flashes. This led to a chronic infection that 3 doses of Diflucan and all the Monistat in the world couldn't fix. After reading up on how to to use this for yeast infections, I got some NOW Foods "00" gelatin capsules. The recommendations I found said to fill the capsules with nothing but the powder, but some women complained this led to some irritation since boric acid can dehydrate and just generally annoy the skin a bit.

So, I dissolved 2 tablespoons of the acid in a block of cocoa butter about the size of a wadded up kleenex using a makeshift double boiler, (a pot of water with a pie tin in it). After everything was dissolved, I poured the mixture into a dixie cup and then dribbled the liquid into the gel caps. I used maybe 20 capsules and put the remaining mixture in a glass jar so I could re-melt it in a pot of water later to make more suppositories. (If your'e going to use this method, let the liquid cool a bit because you will inevitably get some on your hands). A friend of mine asked, "why cocoa butter?" It's non-irritating, a great soothing moisturizer, and melts on contact with skin, much like name brand yeast infection suppositories. You want the suppositories to dissolve with your body heat, not drip all over or stay a solid block.

This worked LIKE A DREAM. The next day there was NO itching, NO yeast odor, NO discharge and NO irritation.

Much to my surprise, this little concoction worked on another problem. Any woman that's used a vaginal suppository knows that what goes in is eventually going to come back out. In the middle of the night, when the gel cap dissolved and the mix freed itself from my lady area, it coated my outer lady area. This wasn't anything special until I noticed that my stubborn "down there" sweat odor was completely gone, and it stayed gone for the entire day, even through a series of hot flashes that soaked my clothes. This was enough to make me jump for joy.

After the previous discovery, I had another crazy idea. Maybe this is just an issue for overweight people, but my belly button smells awful, (yes, I've checked it before, don't judge me). I made more of my cocoa butter/boric acid mixture and added some olive oil to make it creamy, but this time let is set up in an old makeup jar instead of putting it in a capsule. It cooled off into a nice spreadable cream which I promptly smeared in my belly button. After a day, ONE DAY, no more odor.

I won't go into too much detail, but I've been using this cream on other problem areas that sweat profusely throughout the day with the same success. Boric acid hasn't cured my hot flashes, but it has certainly taken a lot of paranoia in social settings out of my life.

Last but not least, I made a mix of boric acid and hot water to kill some mold in my bathroom.

My next project will be dissolving it in some corn syrup to help with a friend's ant infestation.

Boric acid is a valuable tool that has hundreds of uses. Whether you're thinking about using it for hygiene, acne, eye infections, athlete's foot, yeast, jock itch, mold, ants, roaches, mice, laundry.... whatever, don't hesitate. Just make sure you do a little research first on what you're going to use it for. A little creative tinkering can take you a long way with this product.

This is what my doctor recommended to me years and years ago for chronic yeast infections. I gotta say, it does the job. Buy them with size 00 veggie capsules, insert in the vjj (never take them orally), and you will clear up in a matter of hours. It kills yeast. Period.

Buy BORIC ACID POWDER HUMCO 6 OZ Now

Used to, when I would get a yeast infection, I would take Diflucan or use Monistat 3. While these products successfully took care of the yeast infection, they also pushed my vaginal pH up to a higher level which allowed bacteria to grow. So I would take an antibiotic for the bacterial growth and that would result in a yeast infeciton. I went through this cycle for six months. Finally, I read the Amazon reviews for boric acid being used to treat yeast infections. So I bought boric acid, as well as some empty veggie capsules size 00 (also available on Amazon). The next time a yeast infection came around, I put boric acid into a capsule and inserted it vaginally (do not take orally per the directions). I found out that the reviews are right: BORIC ACID KILLS YEAST! I use these boric acid vaginal suppositories twice a day to treat a yeast infection. And guess what? Boric acid is a weak acid, so it keeps the vaginal pH low which means no bacteria can grow. I confirmed this by visiting my OB after using boric acid vaginal suppositories for two months and the labwork came back showing NO bacterial growth. I'm SO happy and thankful to have found this yeast infection remedy and the price can't be beat!

The first thing I used it for was to get rid of cock roaches. I spread it all over any hard surface in the kitchen at night with some tasty bait in the middle. In one week; no more cock roaches. This time, I followed the recommendation of spreading it on carpets and rugs to kill bugs to include my pets fleas. In two weeks; no more bugs and fleas. I have heard that the manufacturers cannot advertise the various uses due to the chemical industry wanting to protect the lucrative billion $$ bug business. Well, I don't need to worry about them coming after me. This stuff is a miracle and everybody needs to know all its' natural benefits.

I had been having problems with BV for like 5+ years! I'd been to the female doc time after time, with each visit resulting with a script of either an antibiotic pill or some gel of the same sort. As usual, I'd use use the "treatment" as prescribed, see a tiny bit of improvement, then low and behold...BAM! Right back to where I'd began! So then I would resort once again to search the net for another type of treatment( in dire hope of it being the last time I'd have to do this again! )that would work! Next, I'd found myself buying treatments from the drugstore, some only promising to last for like 3 days. THAT'S IT! My last try at this horrible affliction, I thought I'd try out Boric Acid, after a few stories I'd read about it really seriously working to treat BV!? So I ordered a bottle of boric acid and small clear vegetable caps to make my own "inserts" and after a whole 7 days (well, nights) of inserting the caps...IT FREAKIN WORKED! I also inserted a probiotic as well, each time, with the homemade caps and I've been cleared of this horrible nightmare...FINALLY!

Jungle First Aid Kit

Jungle First Aid KitPurchased from a surplus store for about the same price as Amazon.

Material is canvas, snaps seem strong, overall a nice heavy duty feel. It has a belt loop sewn on the back. You can easily fit some tweezers and scissors in it. The kit comes loaded with supplies, too.

I wanted a first aid bag to go in my backpack that wasn't too large or too small. This bag should do, although I will be customizing the supplies to my own needs. Only reason I did not give 5 stars is because the supplies expire in 11 months from the date I purchased it.

Received quickly and everything was as expected. Nice variety of useful contents. Would highly recommend Nothing much else to say.

Kikkerland Empty First Aid Box, Red

Kikkerland Empty First Aid Box, RedThe box is well made and strong. For what it is, I have no problem. The only concern I have is size. When you fill it with bandaids and other items, it is not designed for larger bandaids and ointments. I like it but wish I would have ordered a larger size.

We were looking for a kind of retro round metal red first aid box with a white cross we saw at a friends house. He had picked it up on some Dutch web site. We couldnt find it anywhere, but I did find this very nice substitute. Nicely made metal first aid box with a raised cross on the door. I wish the cross was in white to stand out more, but it looks fine. We are using it more as a

accent piece, but it's quite functional. We hung it on the wall next to our bar at the cottage. It's filled with Asprin, Pepto, all the classic hang over meds. It's mostly for show and a laugh, but I have opened it up a few times for some asprin after being overserved. It's a cute fun piece. Good experience with seller. It arrived very well packaged and is a very good quality first aid kit.

Bio Cybernetics International Mat Mechanical Advantage Tourniquet Olive Drab - Model MAT01 - Each

Bio Cybernetics International Mat Mechanical Advantage Tourniquet Olive Drab - Model MAT01 - EachI am in the US army and this product is so much better than a CAT tourniquet. I highly recommend this to anyone in the military.

The Mechanical Advantage Tourniquet (MAT) is designed to stop severe hemorrhage due to traumatic injuries from gunshot wounds, improvised explosive devices, edged weapons and other forms of trauma. In April 2007, the Navy Experimental Diving Unit conducted research titled, "Evaluations of Self-Applied Tourniquets for Combat Applications, Second Phase" in which they evaluated the efficacy of 13 tourniquets. This report is available for free online. Read it and come to your own conclusion regarding which tourniquet is best for your needs. The tourniquets were evaluated according to eight parameters which are detailed in the report. According to the report, "The tourniquets were divided into three categories according to their mechanisms of actions: windlass, ratchet, and stretch retention. Windlass types operate via a twisting action in which a bar is looped through the tourniquet material and twisted. Ratchet types function by a one-way locking device that pulls itself farther along a toothed track as the mechanism is actuated. Stretch-retention devices operate on the elastic properties of the device and are typically wrapped several times around the extremity." The MAT is a ratchet tourniquet. Additionally, the MAT is one of the faster tourniquets to apply to both the upper and lower extremity. According to the study subjective ratings on the MAT state, "Responses to the MAT were overwhelmingly positive: it received the highest ranking on the subjective scores. Users applauded such characteristics as its quickness of application, ease of use, and the sense of adequate tightness after tourniquet was secured."

According to Doppler Flow Measurements the MAT showed 92% no-flow in the upper extremity and came in 3rd out of the 13 tourniquets tested. For the lower extremity the MAT rated a 69.57% no-flow on the lower extremity and came in 3rd out of the 13 tourniquets tested. The goal is to get as close to 100% occlusion of arterial blood flow so that the patient does not hemorrhage to death. The MAT performs at a level that is satisfactory and works well. While the MAT is a solid tourniquet I still prefer using the Combat Application Tourniquet because it has repeatedly been proven effective in combat.

The C-A-T Combat Application Tourniquet, C-A-T, is an excellent and highly recommended addition to your first aid kit. The C-A-T Tourniquet has been researched and proven to be effective. When faced with a catastrophic injury to an arm or leg from a traumatic event with significant arterial bleeding then this tourniquet is a reliable and necessary piece of gear that has saved many lives. This tourniquet is fast and easy to apply one handed (although not as fast at MAT), under stressful conditions, and is combat proven on the battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan. Time is of the essence when faced with a serious injury with significant bleeding requiring immediate and effective control of bleeding. This tourniquet can literally be the difference between life and death.

Based upon research from the United States Army Institute of Surgical Research (USAISR) Battlefield Tourniquet Recommendations Issued July 28, 2004:

"The Combat Application Tourniquet (C-A-T) was effective 100% of the time in quickly and effectively occluding arterial blood flow in both the upper and lower extremities in all trials...Pain scores (pinching and circumferential) were dramatically lower with the C-A-T than any other strap-style device evaluated."

Research after this 2004 study has come to the same conclusion. Hence, the Combat Application Tourniquet should be a part of any serious first aid kit or medic gear. Get this tourniquet and be prepared for the worst case scenario.

Overall, the Mechanical Advantage Tourniquet (MAT) is a solid tourniquet that I do not feel has been completely established as a first line tourniquet. I have consulted with friends in the military (Air Force Pararescue and Navy SEALs) who have used both tourniquets yet prefer the Combat Application Tourniquet. I concur with their conclusions and recommend the CAT over the MAT. In the future this conclusion may change. If you get the MAT I still believe you will have a quality tourniquet.

Schick Schick Quattro For Women Razor

Schick Quattro For Women RazorI love this razor. A friend convinced me to try it. I have tried every other razor I could find in the stores and every type of shaving cream/gel for years and every single time I shaved my legs, they itched like crazy afterwards. I tried lots of different things after shaving too, and they still itched. Ever since I got this razor, my legs don't itch at all! I'm so happy :)

Also, the shave is really close. If I shaved early in the morning, by late that afternoon, it would feel like I needed to shave again. With this razor, my legs feel smooth for a couple of days. You can still see the hair starting to grow back the next day (really pale skin, dark hair), but they feel smooth. I shaved 4 days ago and it looks like I shaved two days ago. This razor is great!

Reading magazines in the tub alerts me to all the personal care products I'd love to try. This particular razor was featured with a few other razors and sounded like the ultimate razor for women. Well, it honestly is superior to anything I've tried so far and it is the first four-blade razor to touch my legs.

Yes, you really can skip a day here and there due to the supremely close shave. The smooth lime moisture strip helps the blades to slide gracefully over your most delicate skin and there are four tiny strips of wire over the blades that create a protective environment. The artistically designed fuchsia rubber grip on the metal handle (the weight is still light, but heavy enough to make it more stable) encourages precise control and it doesn't slip out of your hand. The shower hanger is a true bonus and attaches easily to the shower wall with a suction cup.

This item has one razor, one shower hanger and an extra blade.

Results: Smoother legs than ever before! Lasts at least two days. No cuts or razor irritation. No scraping feeling

across your skin.

Comfort: Superior comfort while shaving. Slides over knees with ease and never irritates sensitive skin. This razor glides across your skin like silk on satin and truly delivers on its high performance guarantee.

I too thought the Gillette 3 was great until I tried the quattro for women. The width is fine wider and it might not get around the bones so smoothly. No nicks or cuts. I've been using the blade for a couple of weeks now and it's still super sharp and easy to shave. Underarms and legs I love it!

I was first attracted to this razor because of the microfine wires around the blades, making it less likely to nick the skin. After using it, I am so impressed with the closeness of the shave that the four blades give! I used to use the Schick Silk Effects (also with the microfine wires but only two blades), but the Quattro is much better. I also like the rubber pad in front of the blades--it makes the hairs stand up before the blades cut them. The handle is comfortably contoured and easy to grip. The metal and rubber construction gives a solid feel to the razor. My only beef is the width of the razor head, which is too small in my opinion and therefore requires more strokes to complete shaving.

I bought this for my wife since she needed a new razor and I heard two women at the store talking about this.

It makes other razors seem like toys. Seriously, pick up the Venus and pick up this. It's no comparison.

She loves the metal handle and the shave is smooth and quick. I've even used it in a pinch a few times...please don't tell her :)

Instead Softcups 12 Hour Feminine Protection,14 Count

Instead Softcups 12 Hour Feminine Protection,14 CountThis is a cut-and-paste from a review I did on an outdoorsy type forum with only a few minor changes to smooth off some rough language, so it's a bit out-in-the-woods flavored, but hopefully some of the info is still useful to civilized folk.

These are, at least to me, the ideal balance between the icky stuff traditional chicks use and the reuseable cups. They're individually packaged, semi-reuseable (the package tells you to toss em after one use; but frankly, I used a single one of them for three months once. Obviously, I cleaned and sanitized the thing multiple times during that, but still: they can certainly keep up with the normal, "non-replaceable" type for a while) little plasticy disc/cups but they're not designed like the normal menstrual cups. I'm not going to try to describe how they sit (if I recall, their website has pictures anyway), but the big important difference between them and the "regular" cup style is that you can empty them out without removing them. That's right sit down on your toilet (or squat over your hole, or whatever) and handle it just like you would if you were urinating old-school style. Then wipe off, zip up, and walk away. Wear one all weekend and worry about the mess and trash disposal issues of actually changing it once you're back somewhere with running water. Actually removing them is probably going to require handwashing, though but see below. I did have trouble with them leaking the first couple times I used them, but practice made perfect. After the first few, they've worked like a charm ever since. Also, the website mentions you can get your lovin' on while wearing these, but I'll just say "Don't count on it." I can see it being possible for some people, but I know my personal anatomy just ain't set up to accommodate it. Your mileage may vary.

In regards to a few things I've noticed in other reviews:

"OMG it's disgusting to remove!" Yes, if done according to the instructions, it is. I heartily recommend complaining to Evofem until they add a freakin' pull-stem to these. My cynical suspicion is that they don't want to muck-up their stupid "No strings" advertising campaign. Until then, you can get some of those super cheap individually wrapped medical exam gloves if you're going to be away from handwashing facilities (or use a sandwich bag. Or your stash of expired condoms. Or whatever strikes your fancy. Improvise and all that jazz.) Tie it closed after and it's a disposal bag as well. Also, with practice, you may be able to shift them down and forward with your pelvic muscles until the front edge pops out, which you can then grab with a bit of toilet tissue.

"OMG It's huge!" Read the friggin' instructions. It doesn't go in like a Diva/Keeper/whatever. You don't just wedge it in however the heck you feel like wedgin' it in there. The sides are squeezed together during application, resulting in a long thin shape that's no bigger around than a tampon.

"It wasn't comfy and it leaked." If you can feel it, it isn't in right. If it isn't in right, it'll leak. If you won't take the time to learn to put it in right (though once you learn, it'll only take about 10 seconds to do in the future,) don't bother trying them.

i cannot praise these things enough. i have been using them longer than most people have heard of them. you have to be willing to stick a finger up there to insert it then fetch it out later, but as long as you're cool with that, you're going to be happy. here's why:

(1) reduced bloating: i can't explain this to you. i don't know why this would have any effect on bloating. but somehow, because of the way it sits inside of me, as opposed to how a tampon sits, allows my body to expel excess gas i may accumulate during my period better than i'm able to do when i have a tampon in. throughout my teen years and into my early twenties, i used a tampon and never thought it was a possibility that the tampon was worsening my gas & bloating. it was only after i switched to menstrual cups that i realized there was a difference.

(2) quicker bathroom visits: i know they say you should put in a new one every several hours. i am probably living dangerously. but if it's mid-day and i'm in a public restroom, i can squeeze my PC muscles and that pushes any period tissue that may have accumulated in my cup right out so that i can flush it down the toilet. that gives me another 4-6 uninterrupted hours of wearing the instead, without removing it, without getting my hands "dirty", and without spending the extra $$ on an additional cup for the end of the day. it also means you don't have the discomfort of fussing with the position of your menstrual product when your cervix might be sore & not want the friction.

(3) sex during: once you have the instead in, you can have any and every type of sex you desire. whether that means you want your partner to know you're menstruating, or you wish to keep it hidden, the "instead" will play friendly. if you simply tidy up the outer surface before engaging in oral sex, your partner will not know you're having your period. if you intend to engage in intercourse, your partner will not feel it or notice it's there. if you fear leakage during intercourse, then just take your instead out and rinse it off, or put in a brand new one, right before intercourse. then your partner will definitely never know.

(4) some of our partners have no problem with our cycles, but will certainly appreciate the opportunity to keep the bed clean so easily. so i recommend it all-around if, for no other reason, because you wish to keep your mattress looking nice for many years to come.

I suffer from a horrendously heavy 1st and 2nd day of my period. As a teacher, I don't always have the option to run to the ladies room when I need a "swap out" break. I dreaded when my first couple of days coincided with my back-to-back schedule.

By chance, I was sitting in my doctor's office reading a natural health magazine and saw an add for Diva Cup. When I got home I instantly researched it and thought it sounded like a potential life changer or a potential disappointment. I read the reviews and decided I should give it a go. I went to the local store that was supposed to sell it and was disappointed that they were out of stock, but they did have the disposable "InsteadSoft Cup". So I bought that because I was just about to start my period and I didn't want to have to deal with my double protective measures anymore! I ordered the "Diva Cup" here and had it shipped 2-day express mail.

So, I've tried both out. Here's what I have to say about each.

Both are amazing in terms of the volume they can hold before needing to "dump" or replace.

Where I once had to change a super plus absorbency at least once an hour (with a heavy flow pad back-up), I can now go 4-5 hours. Both products also handle endometrial tissue and blood clots without any problem. On my normal flow days, I can leave them in for 12 hours without fear of leaking! When both are positioned properly, you will not know either is there. If you can feel either of them, you haven't inserted it correctly.

Here's how they differ.

INSERTION:

The disposable "InsteadSoft Cup" is only one size. It consists of a sturdy bendable plastic ring with a plastic baggie-esque cup. Think of it like half of a female condom, only the internal ring is sturdier. The Instead Cup is exponentially easier to learn and put into proper place. It goes in farther into your vagina and you need to make sure you pop it behind your pubic bone (the bump with a ridge-like texture just north of your vaginal opening). The baggie part sits underneath your cervical opening and your flow collects into it. While this cup won't leak if inserted properly and are having a normal flow, it is common to see a some blood if you urinate or have a bowel movement. Since you're engaging your muscles, you'll displace a little flow in the process. This won't affect the efficacy of the cup after you use the toilet. No need to readjust.

The Diva cup is a completely bendable but sturdy cup. It's a similar material to a diaphragm, I instantly snipped off half of the stem after having read the comments here. I'm glad I did. Anyhow, the Diva Cup is extremely uncomfortable when you are learning how to insert it. The instructions tell you that you shouldn't insert it farther into your vagina than 1/4" from the base of the stem. This is true BUT the labia extend deeper inside and some of your internal space isn't the vagina at all, but space between your labia. How I realized I got it right was when 2 things happened, the first was that I was actually able to rotate the cup with no problem and the second was I heard a suction-noise. The Diva cup goes in deeper than you would think, but you definitely shouldn't be trying to shove it as far as you can. The cup sits lower in your vagina than the Instead cup. It isn't directly blocking the cervix. Rather it forms a collection blockade. Unlike the Instead cup, you won't see any blood upon using the toilet. If you do, you might need to remove, dump, clean and re-insert.

REMOVAL:

This is a biggie for me and one that makes me favor the Diva cup. The Instead Soft Cup requires you insert your finger and find the loop then you pull out. Because the cup is so flexible and bag like, it's a disgusting mess. Unless there is a garbage can next to the toilet, it can be awkward having to remove, dispose and put in a new one. Your fingers will get bloody! If you are squeamish, you shouldn't get this brand.

The diva cup is easier and much cleaner! The sturdier material holds its cup shape and blood won't spill out of it accidentally. It's quick to wipe out with toilet paper if you aren't next to a sink. If you push down on your muscles you can easily grab the bottom of the cup. It's easier to grab the base than the stem. (In fact, if the stem irritates your vagina, it's not an issue if you cut it off entirely).

INTERCOURSE & Other sexual activities:

You can have sex with the Instead Soft Cup and neither party will be affected by it. Because of where it is positioned, your partner won't be hindered and you won't be hurt or "rubbed the wrong way". It's a great solution to when you want to get intimate but don't want a bloody mess on the sheets (or the couch, or the rug).

Lastly, the Instead Soft Cup is also being used to aid in fertility. Rather than boosting your tush up in the air on pillows after sex, you can place the instead soft cup inside to prevent gravity from having its way with that precious male-mix!

You can't have intercourse with the Diva Cup and it won't prevent semen from slipping away from your cervical opening.

GOING GREEN:

Clearly, one is disposable and one is reusable. However, you use far less of the Soft Cup than you would tampon's and pads.

FINAL VERDICT:

Personally, I'm going to keep both on hand. I'll use the Diva Cup for my menstrual issues and the Instead Soft Cup for when my husband and I need some grown-up time during that time of the month.

PS Instead Soft Cups are cheaper at your local pharmacy.

This is my first time trying this kind of product and, I must say, I'm pleasantly surprised.

The Instead softcup looks like a round rubber ring with a cellophane-like baggie attached to the lower rim. Insertion requires pinching the sides of the ring to flatten it, then it's a matter of making sure it's in properly.

The product leaflet says to think about the first time you tried wearing soft contacts, for example, and how you probably had trouble the first few attempts at inserting them. I found this very helpful; contacts were a chore to put in at first but, after awhile, you get used to it and it takes only seconds to do. The leaflet promises the Instead cup will be the same.

Meanwhile, though, it took both hands and several tries to keep it from sliding too far up in the back, poking uncomfortably somewhere, or turning kind of sideways. I think the secret is to be persistent. A couple of times, I was tempted to say, "I guess that's good enough" but, by being persistent, I learned that if it's really in right, you can't feel it at all.

I wouldn't be brave enough yet to wear JUST the cup without a pad underneath, or wear it to work where I might have to change it in the common restroom and feel rushed. Maybe after I really got used to it. It's also probably not the product for someone who's uncomfortable with her body. If you're squeamish about getting your nails dirty (or if you have really long nails--ouch!), you might not want to try this. You will probably have to get at least a finger or two into the work area to get it positioned properly.

The product description says you can wear one for "up to 12 hours." Actually, according the instructions, the length of time you can wear it depends on your flow--approximately twice as long as you usually wear a pad or tampon.

Removal wasn't bad at all. You'll need to hook the ring with your finger, but I can't see how it would get "stuck" in any way whatsoever. I guess there's the possibility it could go up further than someone's comfortable reaching so, again, you should be mentally prepared for that possibility. Definitely try it the first few times at home, where you're not likely to feel rushed.

It works like a charm for me, though. The only reason I'm not able to give it five stars is because I find disposal inconvenient. Obviously, you can't just flush a rubber ring down the toilet.

The cups come individually wrapped, and the instructions say to put the used cup into the wrapper the next one comes in, or wrap it with tissue and dispose of it in a wastebasket. Unfortunately the wrappers fit the product so snugly that it's hard to get a used one in without making a mess. If you opt to wrap it with tissue, it's likely to soak through (potentially embarrassing in a small office with a unisex restroom or at someone's house, for example). Maybe they could make the bags a little larger with tie-closed "handles" that make a neat, leak proof package for disposal.

I probably won't buy this product again because it's made me brave enough to try the reusable cups--also available on Amazon. Look up Diva Cup, Moon Cup, or The Keeper.

I've been using the Diva Cup for about a year. I figured I'd try theses because I was curious and they say you can have sex with the softcup in. So besides the leaking, I have had a horrible time getting it out. I think my main problem is that I'm used to bearing down to get out my Diva Cup that I figured the same rule applies with this softcup. IT ABSOLUTELY DOES NOT APPLY. Seriously it creates some sort of blood-cannon out of your vagina. I'm not particularly grossed out by blood, but when my entire hand was drenched with my fluids, I was horrified.

I did only use the product three times, but with awful results every time it's hard to try it more.

These did make me realize that, if I'm going to have sex on my period, I should just put down a towel.
