Buy Adventure Medical Pocket Survival Pak Plus Now
I've had this PSK for some time now, never used it, and hope I never have to. For the money you can't go wrong. These are all top quality components in a pocket sized, waterproof package. To understand the quality and thought that went into this kit, visit Doug Ritters website equipped.com. He explains every single item and why it's included. Some items, like the whistle and knife were specially designed just for this kit and are now sold separately. I'm not an outdoorsman, hunter, or hiker, just someone who likes to be prepared for the unexpected. With this in your pocket or bag you have a backup fixed blade knife, water container and purification, signal mirror, compass, whistle and a bunch of other stuff to help you survive. With all the earthquakes, storms, floods, and people just getting stranded, this is one of those things you would rather have on you and not need it, than need it and not have it. The Plus version of Doug Ritter's excellent Pocket Survival Pak adds some highly useful items. Not a huge fan of the tiny flashlight or the pencil in the kit if you get one of these and keep the pencil, consider wrapping it past the tip with a bit of electric tape this will keep it from dusting graphite inside your kit from normal pocket jostling... and it will give you a bit of electric tape. Also planning on replacing the little flashlight with a Photon keyring light or a unit that clips to the bill of a cap.
This is a great starting point for assembling your own larger user-specific kit. Add a "space blanket" or two, find a convenient place to carry some paracord and a few trash bags and you should be in pretty good shape for weathering an unexpected over-nighter.

Most of the stuff is good to have as a (backup) say in car...This shouldn't be considered core survival gear...Flash light is a total piece of junk...I also think it sould be about $10 less expensive.-Joe
