Buy OraMoist Dry Mouth Patch - 1 Box of 16 Patches Now
I have suffered from dry mouth since I was a child. Every morning when I wake up, my mouth is so dry that it hurts to swallow. OraMoist works for hours and is clinically proven to work. All you have to do is insert a patch on the roof of your mouth or inside your cheek. It can last up to four hours. The patch dissolves on it's own so it is OK to use at night.I did notice a difference as soon as I started using this product. It only lasts a couple of hours for me but that's good enough. It's horrible to feel your tongue get stuck to the roof of your mouth and then you have to pull and it hurts! I'm glad there is a product that helps with this now. When I'm awake, it's not so bad because I can just carry around some water, but night time is a different story.

My mouth kept getting so dry at night that I got cracks on my tongue; I got candida twice as a result. My mouth didn't even have to be open--while sleeping it would dry out. There's no way I want to wake up enough to use a rinse when what I really need to do is try to get a good night's sleep. My dentist gave me a couple of these to try. It works very well. I got at least 4 hours of very good effect and a lesser effect that lasted most of the night. I'm going to buy more.

LATER NOTE: After trying OraMoist, I came across a product called Biotene Oral Balance at the drugstore; for me it works better. It's a clear jelly in a tube (like toothpaste); put a dab on your tongue (tastes like apples). Press your tongue against the roof of you mouth for a moment to spread the stuff out on your tongue, and go to sleep. This is less bothersome and for me much more pleasant than the OraMoist. I quit using the OraMoist and now use Oral Balance exclusively. I keep the tube by the bed in case I need another fix during the night.

TIPS for using OraMoist if it works better for you: don't put it on the roof of your mouth (I agree with others that this does not create a very good feeling if you put it on the roof of the mouth). Instead, put it in the side of your mouth, between the upper gum and the cheek (where the ballplayers & cowboys put their plug of tobacco). It will take a few minutes to get used to and then you don't notice it. It does get a bit melted (or gummy, or whatever you want to call it), but if you just leave it alone you won't notice. (When you're eating, the food you're chewing in your mouth gets pretty icky, too, but you don't focus on it so you don't notice.)
What I don't like: I would prefer less flavor (therefore, only 4 stars)--I'm not trying to have a dessert experience; I just want to get some sleep. But until a better product comes along, this one is simple and it works.

Trying to teach after sudden onset of Sjogren's Syndrome was almost impossible. OraMoist patches definitely help me, since I still have some stimulated salivary function. As the disease progresses, maybe I will not find these patches to be effective, but for now, they are a life saver. I keep one in my mouth all day and night (with the exception of meal times). I agree with many of the other reviewers that the texture is annoying, and if you don't like citrus flavor, these are not the treatment for you. Xylimelts mints have a much better texture, but for me they only last for 20 minutes, which just is not long enough. Half of an OraMoist patch can last me for 3-4 hours, although as it gets older, it does seem to be less effective. I have not been able to eat with them in, as they tend to disintegrate when I'm eating, plus I find the citrus flavor annoying when I'm trying to eat something that is not sweet. But overall, this is a product that I am currently unwilling to be without, and I will keep buying it as long as it continues to help my horribly dry mouth.
