When I first opened this product, I had trouble starting it. There is a little round disk inside that you have to bend... remember this when trying to start it. When it bends you suddenly see the pack changing white and you have to work your fingers through it go evenly distribute the heat. Gets hot in seconds. Feels so good. Wish I could get it hot again without having to boil it though....dont exactly have a stove at work and thats where i use it.
