Medical Arm Sling with Split Strap Technology, Maximum Comfort, Ergonomic Design By Custom SLR

Medical Arm Sling with Split Strap Technology, Maximum Comfort, Ergonomic Design By Custom SLRI broke my wrist about two months ago and needed a sling for a while. The one I got at the hospital was serviceable, but it was more suited for people with shorter arms (it's one size fits all) and the interior material was very slick, so my arm would constantly slide up and out.

So I looked for a replacement on Amazon, and it's pretty slim pickins. I took a chance and purchased the "Medical Arm Sling with Split Strap Technology, Maximum Comfort, Ergonomic Design By Custom SLR", although there weren't many reviews. It's a good, comfortable sling, and definitely an upgrade over what you typically get at the hospital.

Pros: comfortable; there's a `cup' for your elbow that's grippy and stretchy to hold your arm in place nicely; since it's mesh it breathes well; black color blends well with most clothes; it's longer so it should fit most arm sizes.

Cons: can't really think of any, though assembling the sling for the first time could be easier.

Conclusion: Recommend.

I am a United States Marine having served 8 years and was a Wrestler in High School, so with that said I've been in a few scuffles in my younger days.

The Slings that were issued from the hospital were lame and the ones that I received while on active duty were not bad. But this Sling is just incredible, after wearing it for an hour you don't know that it's on.

The neck pad is just so confortable and the black material is just G.Q. with inside pockets for ID or small bills is a nice untold feature. What works for me is the quick release one button (Nice touch).

I am ordering a 2nd one because this is something that takes up no space and is just a great solid investment.

The package arrived on time and I would recommend this purchase to my friends and co-workers.

If Daniel Craig, Jonathan Stratton or George Clooney had to were a sling, this is the one.

I broke my shoulder on Friday the 13th, tripped over the dog gate at my sister-in-laws. ER doc said 10 days in a sling, 4-6 weeks to heal completely "no big deal". I followed up with my ortho and he said...BIG DEAL; break is in the spot where rotator cuff meets bone. 4-6 weeks off work, don't use arm and let heal to avoid further damage and possible surgery.

Long story short: The sling from ER was crap. This sling is comfy. Split strap distributes weight on my shoulder and neck and decreases tension in those areas. The cotton body is nice, not slippery, and mesh helps the whole thing breathe.

I wish it had a loop for my thumb to keep the sling from sliding back toward my elbow and losing support for my wrist. The clasp is difficult to work, too stiff.

In general, a well made product, light weight, good support and a huge improvement from standard hospital issue sling.

Bummed about the time off work, can't do much but shop on-line >.< Oh, well.....

I broke my collar bone in a cycling accident. I received a sling from the hospital that did it's job, but was very cheaply made and not all that comfortable. Considering that I have to be in this sling for a couple months, I went searching for a new one. Reviews seemed very positive on this particular sling, so I decided to buy it. I received it quickly thanks to Amazon Prime, and the different is night and day.

Pros:

Both the straps and the sleeve are made of very stretchy material, so comfort is excellent.

The shoulder pad is made out of a gel foam.

Materials and finishes are top notch. I don't have a single complaint about the quality of it.

Very adjustable. Large range of adjustment, with lots of room.

Pockets are a nice added touch.

The thumb holders are very convenient when your hand gets tired.

The quick release is AWESOME.

The color and overall appearance of the sling is nice enough to wear casually or formally.

Cons:

The sleeve material can get a little warm on hot days and cause you to sweat. However, it does breathe well, so it can cool quickly, too.

The size of this sling is pretty large. Even with the adjustments almost all the way tight it still feels a bit large. I guess it has to be for the range of sizes people are, but as someone who is 140lbs 5'10", the sling could be a bit smaller. It does fit, though.

Pockets are nice, but they are pretty difficult to use with a broken clavicle. To get into them I have to move my arm (the pockets are inside of the sling) which isn't exactly comfortable.

The excess strap that hangs from the sling has a piece around it to help you fasten it to keep from flapping around, but it doesn't work perfect, and with the amount of strap I have pulled through it doesn't manage it well. I have yet to see a sling that takes care of this issue properly, though. This wouldn't be a problem if you were larger and used more of the strap than I did.

This sling is comfortable on the arm, and is of good quality overall. However, there are some design features which make it less useful to the wearer. While the sling features a rugged and fairly comfortable shoulder harness, the length adjustment is behind the shoulder. You will need to take off the sling in order to adjust it. The strap length is adjusted by pulling the nylon strap through two rings, which is nearly impossible to do one handed. There is a quick-release button on the front-side of the shoulder harness, which allows the strap to be separated at that point. Again, it is difficult to snap/un-snap this connector with only the use of one hand. If you have limited use of the injured limb (well, duh!), you will need someone to help you adjust and wear this sling.
