If you have a scrape or have just removed a splinter, or if your heel has cracked from dry skin, I cannot recommend a better product than New-Skin: it seals and disinfects the break in your skin, and stays in place until the break has been healed. It does sting when applied and has a nasty smell for a few seconds which may keep you from using it on children. Also, it does not stop bleeding, so don't even waste your time there.
But for those small applications, it is very helpful and more than rates a place in both my medicine cabinet and first aid kit. In a few minutes drying time (and a few seconds swearing time), you will be almost healed and ready to get back to whatever activity got you banged up in the first place. All that's missing is a kiss from your Mom to make it all better.

If a person gets a wound and does not have quick access to clean water, all he/she has to do is to apply the liquid which becomes a membrane attached to the skin around the wound, stopping minor bleed and decrease the chance of infection. The pain also becomes much better. This is my personal experience on myself and on my patients, after I drain fluid collections in the chest and abdomen. (Of course, I use aseptic technique before, during and after draining such fluids).
My only complaint is that it seems to be a little on the expensive side to keep couple of this item in everyone's first aid kit.

Great aid when you get a small cut on a finger. The elasticity makes it better than using plasters etc.

I get cracks on my fingers which make even washing my hands painful. Standard band-aids (even those that claim to be "waterproof") still allow water to get into the cracks/cuts -and end up falling off anyway once they get wet a few times. Enter "New Skin" liquid band-aid... it works much better than standard band-aids because it bonds directly to your skin. It works well, but I have two complaints...
1) If the cut is on an area that bends (fingers, knees, etc.), there is a good chance the product will eventually open up, breaking the band-aid "seal". It would be great if they could make the product even more flexible to better accommodate cuts on moving parts.
2)[For cuts on fingers] After a few hand-washings I find it starts to peel off at the edges, which makes it kind of look like peeling skin. That, coupled with the fact that the film enhances any redness of the wound, makes the wound look more nasty than it probably is.
Still, it works much better than a standard band-aid, so I would certainly recommend giving it a try. Maybe you won't have the same issues I do.
With MRSA and other Staph infections on the rise, I know that it's important to keep open wounds covered and protected. If you can't cover your wounds with clothing, this is the next best thing.
PS: As another review mentioned, it stings like hell when you first apply it (but you get used to it) and the odor is very strong (I would suggest stepping outside to apply it, or somewhere with good ventilation.
This product is well made, performs as advertised, and arrived promptly... well before the expected delivery date. I have no complaints regarding the device itself. However (the reason for 4 stars instead of 5), I have been unable to find any supplier locally or in this general area of the state that will refill this cylinder without a doctor's prescription. The manufacturer's promotional statement "No prescription required" apparently applies only to the original purchase, and not to conventional refill regulations for medical Oxygen. This fact should have been made clear in the promotional literature.
