Graco Nasal Clear Nasal Aspirator

Graco Nasal Clear Nasal AspiratorSo the first thing I can say about this product is that is really does help decrease if not completely abolish the crying and fighting of a small baby when it's time to suction their nose. It's a continuous gentle suction so it seems to not feel so intrusive. The music is kind of loud, but if you put your finger over the small speaker it helps diffuse it a bit. It probably isn't so bad for an older baby. When my son got sick he was just barely two months old so it was still a bit loud for his ears. Now for the suction itself, it's effective for thin secretions of mucous, not so much for anything thicker than that. It worked well in combination with the bulb aspirator. I thought I would be able to throw that thing out...but not the case. It seems like it would be a good product for a cold with a continually runny nose, or just looser mucous. It's not really great for use on more congested noses because it's gentle suction is just not enough. Clean up is gross but easy! I think people have said you can run the pieces in the dishwasher however, I just clean the pieces out with hot soapy water and a small bottle nipple brush. It has a great little storage drawstring bag and two differently shaped nasal pieces. Overall I think it's a useful product for certain types of mucous. It's definitely worth the cease in suction session battles when the mucous is a prime candidate for it.

So the bottom line: Is it a must-have? No, I don't think it's more effective than the bulb. Is it nice to have? Yes, I don't mind having it to resort to for certain types of colds in addition to baby being okay with having it in his nose. Should you buy it? Depends on how much you need your twenty bucks. Lastly, clean up is probably more sanitary because of the pieces pulling apart, but it is definitely something you want to clean as soon as your done using it.

Our daughter was constantly getting a cold in the winter, so we were endlessly having to clear out her nose, which she hated. We would rinse out the bulb aspirator after each use, but when I got a whiff of the inside of that thing one day, I nearly puked!

One day I found this inexpensive option at Wal-Mart. The first few times, she was unsure, but once she saw how it made her feel, she truly doesn't mind it. I wasn't totally impressed at first because I just felt like it wasn't sucking enough. But when my husband read the directions, it tells you sometimes, if the mucus is thick, you need to suck in a little water in between suctions. When you do that, it works perfectly! As gross as it is, the water flushes out the loose boogers and they go straight to the clear cup.

We loove this gagdet, and I suggest all the people who complain about the suction try using the water!

When I read the description for this, it said that this aspirator was safe for infants and I wondered whether it would be strong enough for my son, who is a few months from age 3. It does have pretty good suction and works well, even on a toddler. There are 2 tips and the larger tip fits him and I think would still fit him when he's years older. The music function didn't work at first, but it just started working after a few uses although that function doesn't really interest me.

As an infant, my son was in the hospital and they had this great aspirator that attached to suction coming from the wall. I wanted something like that but I was wary of those suction devices that work with your vacuum cleaner just too noisy and risky to me. So this was the only other option I could find and I couldn't find any reviews for it. But I got it anyway and I'm happy with it. It is easy to clean and removes snot well. I would recommend anyone using this on their child to use saline drops first to loosen the mucus...otherwise the constant suction on something that has thickened would probably be painful for your kid. The saline also makes it a lot easier to remove the mucus. I think if you think the suction isn't strong enough, you should use some saline and then the stuff should come out.

It does have a little noise with it which infants might not like, but maybe the music helps with that. It sounds kind of like a vibrating cell phone. My son isn't bothered by it and even likes using it at times. I don't think it removes stuff that you couldn't already get with a traditional nose sucker though, it just is faster you don't have to keep sucking and squirting like you do with a regular sucker.

One thing I've found after using this for a few months is that if there is a period when you have to use it frequently (your child has a cold or flu), you will find that you need to change the batteries after several days (say, a week or so). The suction power does decrease with use, so to get good suction a fresh set of batteries helps.

Wish the hospital would have supplied us with this little gem instead of the bulb. Our daughter picked up a cold at Christmas then developed an inner ear infection that we could not get rid of. We had to use the bulb aspirator regularly for the past months, which she hated. She ended up with ear tubes, but now the fluid is draining. We opened the musical snot sucker package today and she actually giggled when we aspirated her nose. It has amazing suction too.

What a waste of time and money! My son has been congested for a week now and I am dying for anything to help him breathe better and eat better, as nursing as very challenging when a baby cannot keep suction due to a stuffy nose. We got this product home popped in brand new batteries, put saline drops in his nose to loosen the mucus and tried it out, this thing was worthless...it couldn't even get the bats hanging out in the front of the cave, needless to say it didn't clear any snot from his sinuses. The only thing this aspirator managed to suck, was money out of my wallet, I wish I could give this zero stars. Worthless!
