You basically cut a patch about 2 to 3 inches in diameter, squirt on a generous amount of glue then fold the patch in half like a taco. Take the patch down to the bottom of the pool (yes even under water) and firmly spread it over the hole. Squeeze out the excess glue to the edges. You will have to come up for air a few times but keep returning to the area and press the patch down working the glue out to the edge. After two or three times the patch is stuck and stuck good!!
The people having problems with this kit probably have an incompatible surface they are trying to bond too. The glue smells like a gelled MEK substance that actually melts the vinyl a bit.I too received the product only to find the glue hard and unusable. After 15 min of searching the return policy and another 15 on the phone with customer service i was able to order a replacement without having to return the item and Amazon garanteed it will not be defective. The customer service was helpful.
