I was 'fresh meat' for any number of creatures who seemed to enjoy devouring me and I have the scars all over me to prove it.
As I learned from people, I became more savvy and one of those things was being introduced to this Chiggerex.
When it comes to bugs there is first the prevention, secondly the aids.
There's an awful lot of natural things that work that you can put on your body to prevent being bitten and yet are not harmful to your body. But, if and when you do have some bites, keep tea tree oil, baking soda, and vinegar on hand during 'bug season' and definitely the Chiggerex.
I like that this is inexpensive enough to have several one for each bathroom; one to keep in your day pack for day trips, and don't forget to add this to your "Bug Out Bag" (no pun intended LOL)
A little is all you need, so the jar lasts a long time, too. Good stuff!Chiggerex is a tried and true "must have" item in most Southern households including my own.
It is THE BEST ointment for the relief of itching due to any bug bite and especially the three biggies: chiggers, ticks, and mosquitos. Just rub it on. It works.
WHAT IS A CHIGGER? Chiggers are well known in the southern United States, but for those of you who are lucky enough to not know what chiggers are, they are mites found mainly in tall grass and overgrown areas whose tiny red larvae feed on animals and humans. They secrete an enzyme when they bite that liquefies your skin so that they can slurp it up! YUCK! If uninterrupted, the larvae feed for about 4 days and then fall off, grow new legs, and become adults (chiggers are so small that they are usually killed/scraped away when people scratch at them). Meanwhile, the enzyme they secreted has caused the skin around their bites to harden and swell into pimple-looking bumps that itch like crazy!
Both chiggers and ticks wreak havoc on Southerners from late spring to summer, a time when all Southerners know to avoid tall grass! And if you must venture into their territory, spray your clothes and especially your pants, shoes and socks with a DEET or permethrin repellent (like Repel100 or Sawyer Premium Insect Repellant).
If you suspect you have been in chigger and tick territory unprepared or otherwise, shower or bathe with warm, soapy water A.S.A.P. scrubbing well, and wash the clothes you were wearing because there are still chiggers and/or ticks on them. This generally takes care of the chiggers along with wandering ticks.
After showering a "tick check" must be performed to spot any ticks that are latched on. Once found, they must be removed.
REMOVING TICKS Small seed ticks can be removed using tape. Any tape will do in a pinch, but heavier clear packing tape works best. For bigger ticks, you can remove those using narrow tipped tweezers. Grasp the tick as close to the skin as possible to avoid squeezing fluids from the tick into a person. Slowly but firmly pull the tick away from the skin. Save the tick so that it can be examined later by a health care professional in case of health concerns (ticks carry diseases including Lyme Disease), by sticking it to one end of a piece of clear tape and then folding the other half back over it (sticky sides together) to seal the tick inside. Dab the bite with rubbing alcohol. Wash your hands and wash and disinfect the tweezers as well.

I purchased this while suffering from a severe chigger attack. I had hundreds of sores on my legs and feet. This product was the only thing that relieved the relentless itching. It has chamomile in it to soothe the skin & the smell of the product is very faint & not unpleasant. I use it for all bug bites now & any time I am itchy from allergies. Highly recommend it.Read Best Reviews of Chiggerex Plus! Medicated Ointment 1.75oz Here
Although this Chiggerex Plus! Medicated Ointment's main listed ingredient is Benzocaine 5.0%, the other ingredients combined with this make it an awesome (better, in my opinion) alternative to many other (and less effective, in my opinion) anti-itch ointments available. Among the other ingredients included in this are: olive oil, peppermint oil, clove oil, chamomile extract Aloe Barbadensis gel, camphor, vitamin A, vitamin E, and others.Within a few seconds to a few minutes, this stuff stops the itch and soothes the skin from the effects of mosquito bites, dry skin, general skin itch/irritations, and of course, chigger bites. While we have other anti-itch creams and ointments in our medicine cabinet for various skin conditions, this is the one most often used because it works so well.
We use a Q-Tip to get out a small amount and rub it into the affected area. The smell is of clove, camphor, and peppermint, but is fairly mild and non-offensive. I very highly recommend this product to those seeking immediate and effective relief for itchy or irritated skin.

I absolutely love this product! Over the summer I was outside and got attacked by a few dozen chiggers. This not only takes the itch out, but really soothes the bites. Later on, we suffered a massive flea infestation (still being fought), and I tried putting some of this on my flea bites. Not only did it work, but it seemed to repel the fleas from biting again, due to the peppermint oil it contains. It does have a strong fragrance (it's the peppermint oil), but once it's on I didn't really notice the smell.
I ordered a second container, and am already half-way through it. As I said, we still have a big infestation, and this has become one of my daily routines.
