Johnson & Johnson First Aid Gauze Pads (4 x 4-inch), 10-Count Large Pads

Johnson & Johnson First Aid Gauze Pads, 4 inch x 4 inch, 10 CountI use these pads inside my bra under the breasts to keep me dry. In this way I have eliminated skin irritations from sweat. The product is good, but I prefer to get the 25 in a box size, but it has been discontinued. I purchased this size box as an alternative, there are only ten in a box, but if I can't get the 25 in a box , I'll get them at Walmart. The price is almost the same except for the tax.

These are for Youth Basketball. Always love Johnson and Johnson products! The quality is much better than the cheaper brands.

Elastikon Roll - 1" x 5 yards

Elastikon Roll - 1' x 5 yardsLOVE it! I use this for the dogs as they can't chew it off easily and it stays put. I do martial arts and have blister issues on my hands when I'm handling certain weapons, Elastikon over a bandaid on a sore blister does the trick! Also used it on an irritating part of a knife handle and it doesn't scrape my hands anymore! Just don't wind it too tight or it'll cut off your circulation...

thank you:)

The Sharps Container by North American Rescue is an excellent method to prevent accidental needle sticks by containing the needle in a secure container. It has a locking tab that securely closes which keeps the needle/syringe contained. If you don't have much exposure to needles this is a perfect size container. If you run into needles often you will need a larger container. This size is good for public facilities that may encounter a random diabetic needle or needle from a random drug user. If you have to touch the needle use gloves to prevent possible contamination of a Bloodborne pathogen such as hepatitis or HIV/AID. I recommend using Gloves: Ten Pairs Black Talon Nitrile Gloves LARGE.

I have used a lot of products by North American Rescue and they are an excellent company that provides high quality items.

Ace Ace Splint Wrist Brace Reversible One Size Adjustable

Ace Splint Wrist Brace, Reversible, One Size AdjustableCustomer review from the Amazon Vine Program My family tends to make use of several brace/bandage type products. These are typically for injuries related to sports activities (soccer, lacrosse, cheerleading, etc.). Typically, we will use an Ace or Futuro product.

As far as this Ace Splint Wrist Brace, here is what it is, and is not:

* It is advertised as being reversible, and it is. It comes in the package set up for right-handed use. To change it to left-handed use, simply pull the splint from its pocket, turn over the brace, and slide the splint back in.

* The brace is advertised as "One Size Adjustable." I think this is somewhat of a misnomer. It is indeed adjustable. This is easy to do, and it will expand/contract from 5 ½" to 8/12" inches at its smallest point (your wrist). The problem is when you say "One size" I think people assume it is one size fits "all", or at least "most." In the case of this brace, I would say if you are an adult female and are anywhere from petite to a little above average size, you should be fine. If you are male, if your hands/forearms are anything beyond average size, this might be uncomfortable/tight fit. As an example, I am of average height, and my wrist is a little over 8 ½", and the brace barely fits.

As far as comfort, it is a brace after all, in essence a sleeve with fasteners and a metal splint, so it will feel somewhat constrictive when on. While something that fits loosely is usually more comfortable, if a brace is loose, it simply won't work.

Construction-wise the brace is nice. It is non-latex and breathes very nice so you won't feel overly warm, or sweaty, with it on. It has three hook/eye fasteners to secure it. The inside of the sleeve is not rough. In fact, its quite comfortable against your skin.

The brace is NOT machine-washable, nor should it be tumble-dried or dry cleaned. Ace recommends washing by hand with warm (not hot) water and mild soap, then allowing it to air dry.

I find the brace provides more support for sprains CTS than does a plain Ace bandage.

All in all, this is a good product, but keep in mind the size of your hand/wrist when purchasing.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program After several years of working at a computer, my right wrist aches sometimes from using a mouse for too long. When I saw this on the Vine program, I jumped at the chance to try it. For me, it helps. It keeps my wrist in a position that stops it from aching. I don't have overly large wrists/hands, and this brace fits easily. The stretchy material gives it a nice snug fit, but I can tell that it will fit wrists larger than mine.

The brace provides good support. It's not like a cast, for sure, but it helps me keep my wrist in a proper position.

One thing that I can't speak to is longevity. I've only had it a couple of months, and I haven't done anything but use it at my computer. That said, it looks like it did on the first day.

A couple of things that I wish were different:

1) I might be pulling it too tight (but I don't think so), but after a while, my fingers tingle a bit because it's restricting blood flow.

2) I can type with it on, but using a mouse is clumsy. So, it helps my wrist feel better, but it makes using a computer more difficult.

For ~$20, I think it's worth trying if you're experiencing wrist pains. I was fortunate and got to try it for free, but now that I have tried it, I can honestly say that I wouldn't be disappointed in it if I'd paid $20 for it.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program This is a very nice neoprene wrist brace. It has thumb hole, decent length and 3 tightening straps. It comes with a light aluminum splint that can be removed. Can be used on either hand.

Pros:

1) Can be used as a wrist support by completely removing the splint.

2) Can be used as a splint by leaving the aluminum in, and there are 2 slots to put it in so you can use this on either hand.

3) Very nice sturdy neoprene material.

4) 3 tightening straps.

Cons:

None that I can think of.

Summary:

Very nice high quality strap. Highly recommended.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program This wrist bace gave me quick relief, I can wear it for few hours and I can see the difference. I have 2 small children and I carry them a lot and my wrist sometimes are sore. I also sleep sometimes it the brace because I tend to bend my wrist and can wake up with annoying pain.

The quality is really good and this brace fits me and my husband ( 5'6'' 135lb, and 5'11'' 170 lb). It's hand wash and air dry only but my hand did not sweat a lot in it so I don't have to wash it very often.

Natrapel® 8 hour 6oz. Continuous Spray

Natrapel® 8 hour 6oz. Continuous SprayNatrapel 8-Hour Insect Repellent 3.5-oz Pump Spray 5OZ by Adventure Medical Kits Here in Downeast Maine, we have Black Flies that use Rte 1 to take off on! :-) Nothing, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING stops them from feasting on gardeners, sportsmen, outdoor people EXCEPT this 8 Hr. Natrapel.

GREAT STUFF! Not greasy, not stinky, not poisonous!!! NO DEET!!! (works better than Deet anyway!)

I'm in my garden every day (all day long) and 2 cans of this lasts me through spring, summer and fall. I also give my visitors a quick spritz so they can tour my garden in comfort. (to make matters worse I'm highly allergic to bug bites! AND DEET!)

I used to be able to buy it locally. Now I order it every year through Amazon. Used it once and I was sold!

This bug spray worked wonders for my little boy (20 months) on our vacation to Costa Rica. I also really like the fact that it is Deet free. Even other family members that wore deet spray had some bites, while myself, my husband and our little boy came away with zero bug bites. This stuff really works.

I have a medical condition that makes insect bites--especially mosquito bites--a real concern. This is my first year using Natrapel and I'm very pleased so far. Granted, I don't live in the Amazon, but I haven't had a single bite since I started using it and I'm at a barn every day. I purchased several different applications: the aerosol, the pump, and the individually wrapped towelettes. I keep towelettes in my purse. The aerosol is the winner for ease of application. The pump is uneven and requires that you spread around with your hand. The smell is pleasant and dissipates quickly. I don't have a problem with chemicals---I'm so bug averse that I'd cover myself in gasoline if I had to... luckily, I found Natrapel.

Nice to be able to go to bed with this on my skin and not be afraid of being poisoned!

Burn-Free Burn Packets Box/25

Burn-Free Burn Packets Box/25I scalded my hand badly(spilt hot coffee), my entire hand was red & swollen. I tried aloe which helped a little. A co-worked had a packet of BurnAid and I tried it and was amazed. It brought a cold relief to the burn and the pain and redness subsided. I was so impressed I immediately went to Amazon to purchase some to have on hand.

I first tried this product a few years ago when my daughter brought home a small packet. The product is a result of something from the tea tree (no surprise, considering it's Australian) and has nothing in common with products we find on the pharmacy shelves in the US except that it helps burns. It is just amazing.! It immediately takes the heat out of the burn, prevents blistering and feels very good once applied.

I burned my arm a month or so ago about a 4" mark on the underside of my forearm. The only product that could take the heat and pain away was Burnaid. It's worth keeping on hand and the small packets make it convenient to take along in first aid kits, purse, even tuck a packet or two in the car.

Besides silvadine (?), this is the best stuff you can get for burns. I have pale skin and scar very easily, and cook daily. One packet of this stuff is enough to soothe a treat a burn, and I have never had bad scarring while using it. Also great for sunburns. A must for any first aid kit!

Adventure Medical Kits Tactical Field/Trauma kit with QuikClot

Adventure Medical Kits Tactical Field/Trauma with QuikClotI have recommended Quikclot before. Here's what I said:

"This product stops bleeding cold. Right Now. Noteit is expensive and a little messy, so don't go using it for everyday cuts, those where the bleeding is easily controlled by pressure. But this could very well save a life, especially out in the field.

Get one of the large packs and keep it at home in your 1st Aid kit, and one of the smaller packs to carry in your beltpouch or daypack, along with a few Band-Aids and the usual stuff.

Most first aid kits do not contain this product as it is too expensive, so you'll have to add it yourself. What is handy with this product is that you can apply it to yourself in a pinch."

So, you'd think I'd rate a kit with Quikclot with *****. However, I can't quite. See, other than the Quikclot, this is just an ordinary handy little 1st aid kit.

From Adventure Medicals site, here's what's in this:

"Bandage Materials

4 Bandage, Adhesive, Fabric, 1" x 3"

3 Bandage, Adhesive, Fabric, Knuckle

2 Bandage, Butterfly Closure

1 Bandage, Elastic, Self Adhering, 2"

2 Dressing, Gauze, Sterile, 2" x 2", Pkg./2

2 Dressing, Gauze, Sterile, 4" x 4", Pkg./2

1 Dressing, Non-Adherent, Sterile, 3" x 4"

Bleeding

2 Gloves, Nitrile (Pair), Hand Wipe

1 QuikClot Sport 25g

2 Trauma Pad, 5" x 9"

Blister / Burn

11 Moleskin, Pre-Cut & Shaped

Instrument

3 Safety Pins

1 Splinter Picker/Tick Remover Forceps

Medical Information

1 Comp. Guide to Wilderness & Travel Medicine

Medication

1 After Bite Wipe

2 Antihistamine (Diphenhydramine 25 mg)

1 Aspirin (325 mg), Pkg./2

2 Ibuprofen (200 mg), Pkg./2

Wound Care

6 After Cuts & Scrapes Anethestic/Antiseptic Wipe

1 Dressing, Petrolatum, 3" x 3"

1 Tape, 1/2" x 10 Yards

2 Triple Antibiotic Ointment, Single Use"

A decent list, but other than the Quikclot, hardly unique.

So, it would be quite a bit cheaper to just take your already existing 1st Aid kit and just throw in the Quikclot, which runs $10-$15.

But, this is still a good kit, and fairly complete even though quite compact. If you don't already have a small kit, this is not a bad choice.

Perfect small emergency kit. I certainly won't rehash the comprehensive listing by the previous reviewer. The nice thing about these kits is there is room to add a few more items. I would add additional pain reliever (ibuprofen, etc.), anti-diarrhea meds and maybe more allergy meds as well as some superglue (yea it stings but closes lacerations nicely).

Buy Adventure Medical Kits Tactical Field/Trauma kit with QuikClot Now

This is a decent first aid kit. It is well stocked and comes with a fairly durable pouch.

The reason I am not giving it more stars is that the included QuickClot pad is tiny. The packaging states that it is 3.5 x 3.5 inches, but I took out a ruler and measured carefully-it's only 2.5 x 3 inches.

I purchased this kit to carry with me when sawing brush and bucking logs for firewood on a rural ranch. Despite the "Field Trauma" label, I do not think the included QuickClot pad is adequate for real field work where injuries are possible and medical help is far away.

I keep one of these kits in my range bag when I compete in action pistol matches. Just in case, it is best to have the gear handy to deal with an emergency. Good price for a handy kit.

Want Adventure Medical Kits Tactical Field/Trauma kit with QuikClot Discount?

Let me start off by qualifying myself: I am not a doctor, nurse or first responder and I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night. I'm just an average guy who spends a lot of time camping, hiking and driving off-road in places where a professional medical response may be hours to more than a day away. So I've invested a lot of research, training and money in brushing-up my first aid skills and building various first aid kits. Enough of that.

This kit itself is really nothing special. You could go to your local Wally World and buy a first aid kit for $10 and then add a Quik Clot or Celox Gauze for $12-15 and be ahead in the end. Aside from that, what you're paying for here is the Quik-Clot, pouch and the book. This is also essentially a one-time-use kit, as there aren't enough of the less critical items to handle multiple people or incidents. Not a terrible deal, but not necessarily the best you can do for the money or your safety.

The bag itself is not waterproof and is too small to add things such as a EMT shears, compression dressing, extra gauze dressings and a CPR face shield, which would be useful for the intended purposes. If you do get this kit you are well advised to put the contents into a resealable food storage bag to keep things dry (and which also could be used to flush-out wounds by filling with purified water and clipping-off one corner to make a squeeze bag). The book may actually be very helpful if you don't have first aid training, but its knowledge that is needed before a crisis occurs and is best taught by qualified instructors or first responders.

If you just need one small kit to throw in a backpack or glove compartment, and don't want to go through the trouble of building your own or upgrading something else, then this is a good start. Otherwise you can always add a Quik-Clot or Celox to a more complete kit at minimal cost.

California Baby Calendula Cream

California Baby Calendula Cream, 2 ozThis is great for babies with sensitive skin or suffering from eczema. I think it comes from the sweat during the warmer months. None of the other baby lotions or creams work as well as the Calendula has for us. The itching would make my daughter scream for hours on end. It was really disheartening. No matter what we tried we couldn't get her any relief unless she soaked in a bath, and we could only do that for so long. The calendula helps eliminate itch and inflammation which seems to have worked well. Be aware of the ingredients thoughmarigold being the main ingredient could have adverse effects for children with allergies.

My daughter also gets a lot of diaper rash from not only going to the bathroom but the combination of it and sweat. For that, I use a specific natural diaper rash cream by DesitinDesitin Creamy Diaper Rash Ointment + FREE Baby Ganics Thick N' Kleen (Fragrance Free) Baby Wipes. It's an ointment but it's creamy so it absorbs quickly. A dash of the Calendula on top of the diaper rash cream seems to help soothe the pain a little quicker for her.

The Calendula also has a really pleasant smell. It works on the entire body. I just avoid using it on her face in case she were to ingest it. Even though it's natural I feel more comfortable shielding that possibility. Make sure you find the original blend though, I've seen a lot of complaints of a 'new formula' but I've yet to encounter it myself.

Reformulation on California Baby Calendula Cream Be Aware: In the old formulation, water and calendula were the first two ingredients -the new formula Calendula is the 8TH INGREDIENT water, caprylic capric triglyceride, cetyl alcohol, stearic acid, glycerin USP, cetearyl olivate and sorbitan olivate, canola oil and FINALLY Calendula! This formulation is much cheaper for the company and yet they still charge an avg. of $5 an ounce!! I'm pretty outraged -if you use California Baby please let them know how you feel about this change in formulation and look to make sure the products YOU use haven't also been reformulated. ---Please note that my son who has severe eczema used to have NO skin reaction to the old formula and now he has pain on application and redness in his skin for up to an hour after it's applied.

I also want to note that it wasn't until my son started reacting to it that I even compared the labels --no notification of reformulation on the new containers at all -completely unethical -so very disappointed.

My son had horrible baby acne and a friend recommended Calendula Cream to help it. What an amazing difference it made in just a few days! I used it 2-3x a day after washing his face and results were almost immediate.

I have eczema on face / very sensitive skin. Immediately after applying the product my face burns for a good minute and then it stops. The product is intended for dry skin which I have due to my eczema however, after about an hour or so my skin feels dry again so I have to apply more of the product.

I read some reviews about how the crème with the new label has a new formula which isn't the same as the old label crème. Maybe due to the formula change I'm experiencing the burning sensation.

Want California Baby Calendula Cream Discount?

Both our children have eczema, and have since they hit about the 15 month mark. They have it during the summer months and the winter months. They get it from sweat when they're wearing formaldehyde-drenched Chinese-made clothing and when they're wearing Oeko-Tex certified organic clothing from Peru. They might be allergic to foods (the possible allergen list is a mile long, and it's not like the doctors could possibly test for everything; elimination diets have been futile). They're certainly allergic to that big hickory tree over their play equipment. Cats, dogs, mold, dust, you name it.

So, when all else fails, and you can't weed out the source, you want something to make the symptoms go away. In the case of eczema, you can either suppress the immune reaction (topical steroids) or combat the resulting itch and moisturize and heal the inflamed, damaged skin. California Baby Calendula Cream performs the tricky combination of controlling the itch long enough to heal the skin. It works reasonably well the majority of the time.

Calendula (or pot marigold) extract has been proven to have anti-inflammatory properties, among others, in plant pharmacological studies and has been used topically to reduce inflammation and soothe irritated tissue for centuries. Of course if your child is allergic to plants in the marigold family, calendula would (obviously) have the opposite effect.

I wouldn't be surprised if this has chamomile in it as well, though the label doesn't disclose the contents of the 'proprietary oil blend'. It does have a pleasant tea-like smell to it, and chamomile has been noted to have similar soothing effects.

The rest of the ingredients are dedicated to moisturizing the skin. Because of the density of this cream, it stays on the skin, and because the first ingredient is purified water, it is quickly absorbed. It leaves skin feeling incredibly smooth, but not at all greasy.

The big drawback here is that if your child has severe eczema, you might have to apply this 3 or 4 times a day to the most affected areas. Our children do have severe eczema, and this can keep it at bay if I remember to apply it frequently. Of course I don't always remember. Then there's the cost of applying this cream multiple times per day to two children. We go through one jar per week easily.

So, why not use another moisturizer? Well, in our case, almost all moisturizers we've tried (Aveeno, Nature's Gate, Cetaphil, Eucerin, and others I can't recall now) actually irritate the kids' skin even more, whereas this and the Sensitive Skin California Baby lotion do not. Vaseline works as a barrier cream, but it ruins clothing (mine and theirs) and isn't easily absorbed by the skin.

So, we keep trying other things occasionally, and keep coming back to California Baby. While it is not a miracle cream, it is a heck of a lot better than the other stuff that's out there. (It should be at that price.) It works pretty well most times, sometimes clearing their eczema entirely for brief periods. Another reason to like it is that it rates fairly low on hazardous ingredients according to the Environmental Working Group's Skin Deep Database. All the other mainstream lotions we've tried were considered to be moderately hazardous, and when you read a bit more into this stuff, they just don't seem like good things to be applying to a baby or young child's skin. Most common lotions have ingredients that are actually considered to be irritants, which may explain the children's reaction to other moisturizers.

If your child has eczema, and you're at your wit's end trying to find something, anything that will improve their quality of life, it can't possibly hurt to give this stuff a shot. Pricey as it is, there are so many days I'd give anything just to not have to watch my children irritably tearing at their own skin. This calendula cream has definitely been a source of relief for them and thus, for our whole family.

First Response First Response Gold Digital Early Result Pregnancy Tests

First Response Early Result Gold Digital Pregnancy TestI chart my cycles (using a BBT), so I knew exactly when I had ovulated. Since my chart turned triphasic about 7 days after ovulation, I had an inkling I could be pregnant. I had a bunch of cheap internet HPTs that promised to detect down to 10 miu of hCG (that's extremely sensitive -even the ones that tend to be considered very sensitive are usually around 20 miu or more). At 10 days past ovulation (5 days before my period was expected), I finally got an extremely faint line on a 10 miu test (so faint I wasn't even entirely certain I was seeing it).

I decided to pick up a digital to see if I could confirm. My research pointed me to the First Response Digital Gold as being the most sensitive digital test out there. Given my extremely faint line, I assumed the digital would be negative (since it appears to detect at 18 miu, which is less sensitive than the stick I used earlier). I held my urine for about 5 hours (after my original positive test in the morning), and did not eat or drink much during that time, so that my urine would be nice and concentrated for better results.

Testing with the First Response Digital Gold was easy. As soon as you remove it from the package, it activates (don't remove it until you're ready to test!) You can either aim it into your urine stream, or pee into a cup and dip the stick. I chose to pee in a cup and dip. The little icon on the screen began flashing a few seconds later to indicate that it was working. And within 3 minutes, I had an unquestionable "yes+"!

I loved that I was able to place the cap over the wick, so I could put the test in my purse without fear of getting urine all over. The package warns that the test will need to be thrown out after 30 minutes, and the digital display will stop working. However, the battery lasted about 5 days for me. It was exciting being able to show my husband the "yes+" later that evening.

I was using cheap pee-stick pregnancy tests from here on Amazon, because I like to start testing really early, and that was ok.

By the time we got to the day before my period, those showed a very light line, which my husband agreed he could see, but he wasn't convinced that a very light positive result was really a positive result.

So, we bought a pack of these for about $15 at Walmart, because we wanted something digital. I was a little nervous about using it, because I didn't want to accidentally get the plastic part wet, so I used a dixie cup, and that worked fine.

The little clock thing started going, and my husband and I watched....YES+! It was nice to get a clear result that we could both agree on.

I kind of like how this test has a plastic cover for the end. We took our positive test to show his parents, and that would be awkward and gross without the plastic cover, but with the plastic cover it seemed totally fine. His mom understood right away what it was, and she was excited. His dad said, "Oh, what's that, a thermometer?" "No....well...kind of...but, no..." "Oh! It's a glucometer!" *we all grinned* "Nope!" "OH!! I know!! Congratulations!" So, that was pretty funny.)

The female pharmacist was adamant about this one, and I liked the yes or no feature, so I bought it. Ten minutes later I got a positive, three days before my period was due. Nine months later my son was born. :-) The result remained displayed on the screen for a few days, btw, not just a couple of hours, and the urine collection strip is removable (so you can take it out, clean the stick and show it to your hubby or best friend or your mom later if you want). I highly recommend!

I do not, however, recommend ANY early detection urine test if you've recently had a miscarriage or given birth. These tests are designed to pick up on miniscule amounts of hcg running through your system that a doctor might correctly read as a negative in a blood test. Which means they might also detect a chemical pregnancy, and only a doctor reading your blood test can tell you for certain if it's a progressing pregnancy or a chemical one. Always get a blood test to confirm.

Update (Sept. 2012): I used this brand again recently...the first test in the box came back negative. And it was correct (though I was hoping it was wrong). Two months later, I used the second stick (three days early again). Positive! I'm now 5 months pregnant with my second. So far this brand has been right every time!

This is the best pregnancy test. It is very sensitive. I found out my pregnancy only after 10 days I ovulated. First I tested with the regular FRPT, there was a very light pink line. In order to make sure, I used the digital one and it said "Yes+" It was the best day of my life. I'm so thankful to this product because of telling me the results sooner than later. I started taking care of myself from really beginning.

The Dot Girl First Period Kit

The Dot Girl First Period KitA great gift for every tween girl! This sweet and discrete kit has everything she needs if she starts her period when she is away from home. It will give her peace of mind and the confidence to handle herself with grace when her period starts. They won a Mom's Choice Award for this kit, too!

My 9 yr old daughter and I have gone through the American Girl book, "The Care & Keeping of You," some additional internet info, and "The Dot Girl First Period Kit." This kit is very nice, smallish, well-made, and includes supplies, a heating pad, hand wipes, Q&A booklet & a way track their first year. I can see her refilling the kit and carrying it in her backpack for years. The kit is roughly 5" dia. and 1 1/2" thick. At a recent sleepover, the girls compared the kit with the information in American Girl book. I think this kit is a good healthy way for young girls to be prepared.

Adventure Medical Kits Fox 40 Rescue Howler Whistle

Adventure Medical Kits Sol Rescue Howler Whistles , 2 - OunceThese Rescue Howler whistles are the same as the yellow Micro whistles except for the package label. They even have the same "Fox 40 Micro" imprint on them. Although they used to be different compare pictures of the two whistles where the lanyard is threaded through to attach they're the yellow Micro whistles, now.

And yes, they are EXTREMELY LOUD when blown properly. If given a half-hearted puff, the whistle produces a weak sound such as J. B. Turner complained about.

Personally, I think every child should be issued a whistle when on a hike or camping. These whistles appeared to be ideal. It is lightweight, and very shrill/loud when I blow it. What's not to like? The answer for me is the energy required to blow it. My small eight year old daughter seems to have a bit of a problem blowing it and getting the desired sound. It is much easier for her to produce the sound with the the fox40, or even a classic referee's whistle. It could also envision a problem if a badly injured adult is attempting to use it for signaling. For that reason I'm sticking with the fox 40 for my kids.

The idea behind this product is a good one. But i found that you need to put quit a bit of brerath behind it to get the level descibed in discription. If you take into account that some one injured may not have the ability to put all that much air into blowing the whistle it's not a good thing. In an emergency situation when you realy need it you are out of luck. Just my opinion, never the less i believe a good emergency signaling whistle should take into account that possibility.

I got these whistles for my emergency supply kits for home and auto, for me and family. I like the fact that they are pealess, that is, they don't have that little pea-sized ball of cork or plastic inside that makes the whistle work. In that sense, they are supremely reliable and will work as they should so long as the holes are not plugged or obstructed.

The noise they let out is attention-getting and positively ear-splitting. These are good attributes and exactly what you want in an emergency whistle. Also, they are well-made and thick-walled.

The issue I have with them is that I really had to blow hard too hard, in my opinion to get these to sound off the way they should. In some situations, say if you were injured or trapped in a structure after an earthquake, it may not be possible or desirable to really fill up your lungs and bear down on this thing. While recognizing that there is some relation between air pressure and volume it seems that there should also be a way of generating an effectively loud signal without maximum pulmonary effort. As a reference, I am a fit and athletic man in his early 40's and not a frail asthmatic.

So, I have to give these whistles excellent marks for quality and for a sound that you could probably hear for miles. I give them fewer stars, however, as some in need of a rescue would not necessarily have the capacity to really give their lungs a workout on this whistle. I'm not just considering what I would be able to do with this whistle, you see, I am also considering whether my wife and child would be able to use it.

You need to blow pretty hard to get these whistles to sound properly. If you do, they're really loud and shrill. If you don't, they sound pretty pitiful. As other reviewers have pointed out, children or injured adults may have difficulty blowing hard enough, so make sure to test these out once you get them.

3M Micropore Surgical Tape with Dispenser

Micropore Tape with Dispenser 1' x 10 yd Box: 12For 30 plus years I have used it to tape an eye shut every night (against drying). No other tape can match Micropore's gentleness and effectivenessl

Need to apply patches every day so we have bought a lot of this tape. I like the dispensers and the cut-off. Tape sticks well, but if you don't fold over an edge it might be hard to start removing. Thin tape but strong.
